UPDATE 01 (23/01/2024): Hello, everyone. You may notice that the intro segment for this video has been muted, and that's because it is! I recently received a copyright claim from the friends over at the Elite Alliance Music on behalf of one Alexander Tolstov. Even though I was taken aback by this claim, considering that I found this track under the name "Princess Lia - The Box," I decided that the hassle of resolving this issue was not worth the effort. I would like to apologize for the inconvenience. Moving forward, I will be more careful where I source the music tracks for my future videos.
Yeonmi Park - An Alternate Reality (feat. Your Local Witch) [2]
    Coming in Q2 2024
    Stay tuned.

I've noticed in the course of my life that people from terrible, traumatic situations tend to swing towards the extreme on the opposite end. It's severe black and white thinking. They struggle with finding and accepting balance. Balance is actually perceived as dangerous and the opposite extreme is seen as safety. So her severe swing from a totalitarian NK to supporting hypercapitalism in America doesn't surprise me.

I watched her channel a little bit last year, but she lost me pretty quickly. At first I was very sympathetic towards her when I listened to her stories, but I started noticing things that didn't make sense.
She addressed some peoples' complaints about workers' rights(or was it healthcare or sth like that) with "If you don't like the USA then go live in North Korea" as if people cannot criticize their country ever. I noticed from some of her statements that she lacked compassion for poor people in the US. You would think someone who had to struggle with food would feel sorry for others with the same problem, but no.
Then she also made a video about Squid Game and tried to make it about NK. Like, from all the things she could choose... It is a SK show about south korean people dealing with poverty in their capitalist country, not about Kim Jung Un regime or wthatever the hell. I guess she really needed to come up with content that day.

They look down on poor people who go hungry and their reasoning was that “they are poor because they don’t work hard to better their circumstances. They didn’t well study in school to get good jobs. And they don’t work hard to get out of their situation” Nevermind the fact that every person’s situation is different….. but they just say everything else is just “excuse”….I don’t understand this mentality but I guess because they manage to get out of that situation so they think other people can too

I just want to point that South Korea isn’t a capitalist country. Corporations aren’t capitalist, they are collectively owned businesses (contrary to capitalism which promotes individual ownership), and are states in their own right. In South Korea’s case the corporate state is a result of heavy government intervention in the economy which has led to a centralisation of the means of production the hands of the corporation and the government. The way the South Korean and North Korean economies operate are a lot more similar that you would think. Being poor in North Korean and poor in South Korea are due to the similar reasons, a centralisation of power into the state.

My family made me go back when I was old enough so I didn’t forget. These kinds of human atrocities aren’t shocking to me anymore and I have so much respect for innocent victims of war. But Yeonmi’s stories, it was always like she would drop shocking details of the story ON PURPOSE just to see a look of sympathy and horror on her interviewers faces and would get progressively horrifying with every interview. It looks so different from the way I’ve seen survivors of trauma recount their stories. Something tells me she was more privileged than other NK and her story too tall for it to be 100% real. Right wing gave her the attention and sympathy she wanted, and they get to to use her like a strawman to say “The western world has no right to fight for anything when people are being as sold as prostitutes and starving like dogs across the world” And what sick person would criticize a brave young woman for escaping a dictator? Important to mention that Yeonmi (like most N Korea defectors) is financed by right wing think tanks that are directly aligned if not outright owned by the US and South Korean governments (look up the ATLAS Network) and their stories are used to justify certain actions these governments take against the North (US sanctions, S Korea's National Security Act). Their stories have to be highly exaggerated and unrealistic because actually believable stories like "I was homeless" or "living conditions were bad" don't cause outrage and in most cases could also be said for the western countries. Obviously that's not to say North Korea is the ideal society or anything, but it's naive to assume their isn't a financial, and most importantly political incentive behind these defectors and their stories, regardless if they are true or not.

One thing she didn’t expect was there’s enough people outside of North Korea that have common sense. If you go on record over and over, you gotta keep your record straight. It’s one thing to elaborate further on her testimony, it’s another when that elaboration contradicts other things said previously… that’s when elaboration turns into fabrication. I don’t deny her experiencing a harsh life, but I also can compartmentalize my empathy and claim that she’s grifting off her story. In the end she’s discredited herself. In the end, this hurts the North Korean people further bc it makes people become skeptical of other North Koreans truthful testimonies. Never underestimate politicians and political organizations to exploit people like Yeonmi. She was preyed upon by right wing propagandists at a very young age. She had a resentment towards leftists that she met while in university because her peers who happened to be the left listened to her speak and read her book and noticed the inconsistencies and addressed them to her face. From that point she started to turn on “leftists” because their exposing of her fabrication was going to ruin her chance to grift… she also knows which political side foams at the mouth for war with China and North Korea. So she went the path of least resistance. Yeonmi is now a propagandist bought and paid for to rally and manufacture pro war consent for North Korea and China.

This prejudice can be in the form of housing or job discrimination etc. Thus in order to maintain a living a lot of these DPRK defectors go on these media tours that pay them exorbitant amounts of money to do what is essentially propaganda for SK & the US. She's already told every story she can by now... so she'd have to come up w/new ones, in order to keep the finances coming in.
I've noticed that all she does these days is push the benefits of Capitalism on people. Clinging to anyone who will give her a platform, which usually ends up being right wing fascists in the media. It's obvious she's being paid to do all of this, and that they are keeping her living comfortably.

Just the other day an interview with her came on YT and I lightly listened, after hearing her story once. She went on talking about a “boyfriend” and father being in a camp and dying. Only to then change it a good while in the same interview stating she “could never have a boyfriend…didn’t even know what that would have looked like…” then deny that her father ever went into the life camp and instead said he only went to another type of camp that allowed him to get out in a few years and had cancer. Now I’m very intrigued by all of these changes. I did find it strange that there was such an ease at talking about all of this. That could be cultural or just a way of coping, but with as many speaking engagements she’s done, I’ve seen interviews have full breakdowns where she just seems a little too tame, I guess. @@Helelsonofdawn It's not only with the Biden administration. There were criticisms about the country no matter who the commander in chief is. The fact of the matter is that we are all entitled to our opinions and it's ok to criticize something that the government is doing. She as well as others should not downplay individual experiences and claim it as "ungrateful".

malaysia is the hotspot of cancerous liberalism in south asia. Everytime I hear about a gender hustlers, vegan activists, wellness hippies, drug addicts, pro-criminals..etc.. it's always Malaysians. Singapore is so nearby but it's one of the best countries.

@@4cymusic785 well.. Malaysia is Malaysia and Singapore is Singapore. You wouldn't be comparing Mexico and the United States right?
Malaysia is a developing country, so of course it has its ups and downs, there are stupid leaders but also some great ones. Talented people and also close minded ones. What use is it to compare people with people, country to country? Does it make you feel better yourself? If it does I recommend therapy, I know some good therapists in Malaysia. So welcome and Selamat datang ke Malaysia

Everyone accepted this woman’s story until she began speaking out against America’s current decline. She lived through the horrors of socialist NK, so why would she not warn the U.S. when it’s government is following in the same footsteps? Just admit you don’t like her politics instead accusing her of lying.
