I’m so happy this is on yt. Acorn tv just removed this off their app and I was almost done with the series. I was so furious when I didn’t see it on there.
When I was growing up, near Columbus, Ga. (USA), my parents had friends who lived in Mobile, Ala., and they regularly invited themselves ( sometimes staying 2-3 weeks), and a few times even showed up unexpected. The wife was bipolar uerotic and the husband was an alcoholic; when things got too tense at their house, they would bring their drama to us to act as a buffer. Towards the end of her life, my mother, who had a severe heart problem, would have to be hospitalized after their visits. I asked my mother why she let them behave that way, she would say that they had been friends for decades, and that in younger days this couple had not been so dysfunctional (my mother was far kinder than was good for herself.). Thanks, Jewell and Edgar Lee V.!
"Fresh Fields" certainly had its elements of farce, but it was not over the top; now that Hester and William are in France, the farce is crude and not funny! The housekeeper, the farmer\mayor\landlord, the "garlic lady," they are way too crudely written. Chantal maybe the stereotypical sophisticated French woman, but she is the only enjoyable supporting French character in this series.
Far too accommodating, I'd tell Gang Gang and wossname to go forth and multiply!! Oh, a similar incident happened to my ex Father and Mother in law. He filled up with fuel, unaware his wife was in the back just drove off, The two kids in the car didn't say a word! Got about five miles before he realized she wasn't in the car. Nice to be missed. 🙄
The people who share these great, old sitcoms are doing us a great service. Modern sitcoms are not so classy and funny.
Thank you so much for putting these together they bring back the old days💌

It's on Gold at the moment. I downloaded the entire series off there about a week ago.
The mother-in-law reminds me of Hyacinth Bucket
She's certainly got a hat that Hyacinth would wear. I almost expect her to mention her sister, Violet, who has a pool and room for a pony...
