Totally agree! I actually got second hole on both my lobes and those hurted more than my conch. When I did my conch I didn't feel anything, neither the minimum pressure. The healing was even easier, didn't feel anything, I could sleep on it (but i don't usually do it since it's on the same side of my industrial piercing). Plus, I could change jewelry without any trouble just after about 3 months

I love how it takes 6/9months to heel but only takes 6weeks for an open heart surgery wound to heel.. it just doesn’t make sense x

Apparently it's to do with vascularity, the cartilage doesn't have as much of a blood flow so it takes longer to heal...? Weird though!x

    • @havensinclair3832
      @havensinclair3832 3 роки тому +3

It sounds weird. Hmmm. It might have to do with blood flow? But despite that it still sounds hella weird.

Also has to do with the fact that with surgery the plan is to fully heal no holes, with piercings the goal is to only heal the edges of the hole, if it fully healed it would mean it would close up.

Cartilage is very avascular. There’s not much blood flow, which is precisely why it takes so long to heal.

Can’t believe no one has done this - (summed up)
    1. Healing - takes 6 to 9 months to heal and patience is key
    2. Sleeping on it - a big no no! A lot of irritation or friction, gives a lot of problems (swelling, etc.) sleep with neck pillow
    3. Getting conch stuck on it - stuck in hair, hugging others, etc. be careful doing activities! Be cautious
    4. Changing jewelry - 6 to 8+ months, no redness or swelling and wait until then and you can change it out.
    5. Helmets - no helmets or overhead headphones. Want to avoid friction!
Bonus: wait a month before swimming - no bacteria in an open wound. No submerging water into piercing.

    • @havensinclair3832

@@havensinclair3832 healing times between ear lobes and cartilage is very different. Cartilage is very avascular, and with a limited blood supply it unfortunately heals much slower than say, the ear lobes.

Didnt have any of these problems, it seemed fully healed within 2 months and I slept on it every night (just because I cant control myself when I sleep) and I had zero of these problems, my most loved piercing just because it was my easiest and cutest, zero maintenance.

When you show someone using a neck pillow to sleep on. I would use it like a donut. Put it the side and put your ear in the whole. It keeps the pressure off your ear. I was crazy and got my daith done on both ears at the same time. This is how I survived. I really worked well for me.

I've had my conch since 1994, and the piercing itself wasn't bad; it was the healing. For the first week and a half-two weeks, it hurt like a bitch!!! Kept cleaning it, and leaving it alone, bought a travel pillow, which I still use. After that time, the pain decreased dramatically. It was pierced at 14 gauge with a fairly long labret stud. I did try a ring, but really didn't like how it looked, so have been wearing 14 gauge labrets ever since. Shorter ones now, though. Never had any bumps during healing. After fully healing, no pain or any other problems with it. (Jan Griffiths).

I got mine done mid February and took it out beginning of April. The piercer didn’t put a long enough bar and she didn’t put into account that I have glasses. The end of my glasses reached right to my conch piercing and I think that’s part of the reason I was in so much pain. There was huge bump on the back and I’m still not sure if it was a keloid or not but since taking it out the bump has gone down significantly. Was not worth it.

My conch is my favorite peircing, it did take a long time to heal though. It was done with a 16 gauge but I didn't like it and had it switched to 18 gauge, it seemed to heal better after that for some reason too. Now it doesn't get caught on anything, I can sleep on it and it never bothers me at all.

No idea why people overdramatise it. When you do a piercing (any kind of piercing), you should plan to invest in it! 1) proper place 2) proper jewelry! I cannot stress the importance of proper jewelry! I had my 2nd helix, my 3rd earlobe and my tragus pierced with titanium barbell. I wish they told me that I could choose gold instead. I changed my 3rd earlobe to gold one already (myself). I feel no pain at all! My tragus and my helix still feel sensitive though and I plan to change it to gold. I had my daith done after those piercings and I straight away put a golden ring (18k). I had so far no problems with it at all. I could wear earpods after 2 days and feel no pain. As a matter of fact I understood that the material of jewelry plays an imperative role. With the conch piercing, I put a gold (18k) hoop and seriously experienced no issues! No swelling and no pain. Choose your jewelry wisely and keep urself clean (i.e. take shower) and you will be fine.

I never had a single problem with my conch. My conch and my rook are the easiest of all my piercings. Healing was no issue with and I never notice them. Only time I notice my conch is when I switch to my hoop with the gems in it and they go through the hole... that hurts. But once it’s out for a day it’s usually back to normal no problem.

I’m a nurse with a conch piercing I haven’t had any issues with my stethoscope the only difference is I am a little more careful when I take it out of my ears so it doesn’t catch. The piercing is far enough off to the side that it doesn’t touch the eartips of my stethoscope at all. On that note too, I have friends with tragus piercings who say they haven’t had any issues with their stethoscope either and they can’t feel any difference🤗

My conch piercing on my left ear was almost a year when I changed the earring. On my right ear was a little bit over a year. Both had a ring in each ear and were pierced different times. My left ear early December 2021 and my left on May 10th,2022. I did wanted them pierced on the same day. A gal that was behind the counter said it might cause a headache.

  • @aiaauie

Hellloo. I hope someone will see my comment. I got my conch pierced on May 1. The first 2-3 days it doesnt hurt. So i thought the healing process was so fast. I always sprayed it with alcohol.
But since yesterday, May 5. It is starting to hurt and throbbing, but luckily there's no discharge or fluid coming out but its swollen. The back of my ear is swollen.
The only reason i can think that why this conch piercing got swollen is I accidentally slept on that side where my conch piercing is. Or because I accidentally touched it when my hands is not clean.
Pleasseee comment what to do. And i also ordered saline solution.

    • @aleiacastillo9380
      @aleiacastillo9380 2 роки тому

Hi! Saline solution (I prefer NeilMed piercing spray) is literally the best solution. My piercer always tells me that less care is the best care. Meaning if you need to clean it or if it hurts or it's itchy, just spray it with the saline solution and don't touch it, poke it, or use cotton swabs/q-tips on the piercing itself.
I also prefer cold showers when my piercings get irritated. If you're showering, I usually use a clamp on my long hair to avoid it getting tangled while doing the rest of the rituals😅
I drink some Mefenamic if my piercings hurt too much. And definitely recommend a travel/neck pillow to sleep on. The hole in the middle is where your ear goes so you can be creative with a blanket and curve it like the pillow to make sure your ear doesn't hit anything.
      And absolutely NO TOUCHY!
      Hope this helps😊

I put an opal hoop with rectangle shaped stones on it in my conch at around 6 months in consultation with my piercer, it was healing beautifully. After that jewelry went it, it went to shit. The stones kept going into the hole, and I pulled it back out to the smooth part as those gems should not be in the hole. I would wake up with it in my ear ( didn't sleep on that side) fix it, then just walk around eat breakfast, and brush teeth. And it would be back in the hole, that was a daily thing. Caused a hypertrophic scar I had to heal. Piercer said it was combo of too early and the jewelry, she now doesn't reccomend it to any of her clients. She hated that I was the guinea pig. Now when I see piercing jewelry like that I have flashbacks and stay the hell away from all hoops like that.

It didn't even hurt on the first day and I could sleep on it almost immediately, I had heard so much about helix piercings and I expected an excruciating pain anytime, but nope, I'm now on 1,5 or 2 weeks and I sleep on that ear because the other one has the conch🥴 I got the conch yesterday and it hurts when I touch it, I hope it will heal soon

Anyone who wears glasses on a regular basis: do your glasses interfere with your conch piercing? Been wanting my conch for over a year now but I’m afraid my glasses will hit it every time I put them on or take them off. Or if I push my glasses the wrong way.

It doesn’t bother me at all. You have to be super careful the first week - but after that you should be fine!!

I got my conch done 7 months ago and the healing is the worst. It’s such a pretty piercing but still hurts most days especially when i’ve slept on it. Travel pillow definitely helps but no good for anyone who turns over in their sleep like I do

Both of my ears have a conch piercing in each. I have them pierced different days. On my left ear it was done in early December 2021 and the other ear on May 10th,2022. They both had a ring in them both. Last year that I taken the left ring out of my ear for almost a year. The right one that I taken it out a little bit over a year and it was almost a year after the left one. I was happy to wear gold jewelry instead of silver. Right now I’m wearing silver.

I guess I have a strong immune system. Piercings heal in almost half the time they take for most people. I also have a high pain tolerance. I think I can handle an industrial piercing that I’ve had for almost 11 years, I can handle a conch.

Had my conch on each ear. Had them done a year a part from each other and I felt like they never healed. After another year I decided to take them out because it hurt so much to sleep. It was definitely a cute piercing but just didn't work for me.

The conch won't be causing too much problems when using stethoscopes since the earpiece is directed away from the piercing. Daith and tragus piercings will be causing more problems.

I got my conch pierced with a 14g hoop and it never gave me issues. I feel like it definitely didn’t take anywhere near 6-9 months to heal. I was good about cleaning it and didn’t touch it or mess with it much during the day but I definitely slept on it within the first week lol. My helix was way worse and it was pierced with a labret.

I got both my conch piercings in July 2018 and 2 months later, on my birthday, while at work my co worker gave me a hug and my piercing got stuck on his suspenders and completely pulled it out. I had not even notice till I touch my ear and realize I was bleeding really bad. My managers ended up sending me to a piercing shop to get it cleaned and get it re pierced. It was quiet the day 😅😅

I got mine pierced in August with a ring. It healed well with no bumps, but it is horrific to sleep on. My first piercing was an industrial so that might be why the conch seems like a walk in the park LOL

I got my conch piercing a week ago and have a stainless steel stud in it. I bought a titanium implant grade stud with a 16g 12mm post and I'm planning to switch to it next week. Would that be possible? Also, 12mm seems to be too long of a labret post for my conch but it's titanium and I wanna be sure that my piercing heals well. Btw, I never had major issues during the 1st week.

If anyone is looking to get a double conch piercing on the same side and even on the same day which is what i did, it hurts like a bitch a solid 6/10, it’s sensitive for at least a week sometimes it can be for two weeks, it can get complicated to thoroughly clean don’t let dead skin and crusties build up but also don’t use q-tips to clean bc it can make you’re piercing become slanted and prolong the soreness, it is a super cute piercing tho, the jewelry options are cute as well

    • @lovelyleaah4366

Also for some reason the back of your ear will be more sensitive and painful than the front, also your upper ear will feel sensitive and sore as hell too why? Idk. Everyone i know that’s has a conch piercing has had extra sensitivity in the back of their ear more than the front

I must be the only one in the comment section who had issues with my damn conch piercing. First couple of days it was throbbing like crazy, and would wake me up at night. Finally that stopped and my piercing had to be changed out because my body decided to be allergic to non gold metals. Now I have a stupid bump that won’t go away no matter what I do 😩😩😩 I want it to heal so bad, I love it but it’s a pain!!

I think the most annoying part of the conch piercing is putting a flat back stud in it with just your bare fingers. That kinda sucks.
