    One point I would like to add is that Hydrogen needs to be compressed to a very high pressure in order to attain acceptable energy density as bulk. With BEV cars, you can put solar on your rooftop, generate your own electricity and use it to charge your car, but the Government loses out on the huge taxes they enjoy on petrol (and hydrogen in the future). Hydrogen fuel can be used only for electric power generation because it is risky to store in public vehicles and cost will keep on increasing because it is manufactured as well as due to high pressured storage cylinders.

    We always forget with electric cars is that the car is more eco-friendly because it engine is an Electric motor with efficiency of 90%+(with losses) a IC engine is merely 20-30% efficient at best.
    Also the Lithium battery for sure requires more pollution in making but that battery itself is 99%recyclable(not reusable without processing).
    And as the EV tech is significantly new. It will only get better from here.

    • @rapiddu6482
      @rapiddu6482 Рік тому +3

      Technically recyclable 99% is far different then actual effort. Technically everything is recyclable given enough complexity in the process of recycling. Feasibility is the key. Have you seen current recycling system being any successful? There are only few sectors where recycling has been good like plastic water bottles but that's it what about other type of plastics? Nothing landfills. What about electronics? Nothing landfills which also contaminates the groundwater enough to cause fucking cancer in nearby drinkers. It's a slippery slope at best I don't trust developing country regulation enough to trust in their recycling regulation and enforcement. They couldn't do it for e-waste which is much more due to numerous other things than lithium battery ever will be, despite that it's progress has been pathetic. Private companies will do everything to not do recycling batteries to maintain their profits. It's often passed on some unknown recycling factory that does less than half the work and rest is sent to landfills.

      Lithium Ion batteries are just another fossil fuel kind because Lithium is also limited and it pollute the environment more then fossil fuel we need either an alternative storage system for electricity or better hydrogen engines and yes electrical motor have efficiency of 95% but not the batteries and one more thing world still produce more than 80% of its energy but buring fossil fuels which has maximum efficiency of 50% so if we factor that into equation both IC engine cars and battery cars have same efficiency over all

    Hydrogen is not the answer to remove petrol cars. Hydrogen needs to be extracted and compressed at very high pressure to make use of it in a vehicle. This step itself is going to use a lot of energy (electricity) which can be directly used to drive cars. Also, the hydrogen tank needs to be cylindrical (similar to CNG) to have required strength to store high pressure hydrogen, any other shape is not going to work. This will greatly reduce the space in car. Battery can be made in modules to fit any remaining space inside car, example Tiago EV where TATA added battery to existing Tiago car body. Hydrogen cars also lack the range. This is why no other country is trying to push hydrogen. There is a really detailed analysis of hydrogen cars in this video ua-cam.com/video/vJjKwSF9gT8/v-deo.html

    Hydrogen cars are mechanically more complex but in terms of environmental concerns it's the only alternative to IC engines.
    People who think electric cars are eco-friendly don't know anything about how the batteries are made and how much power is needed to charge EVs. They literally mine rocks (lithium and cobalt) that is used in those batteries. It's costly and recycling these batteries is still a big issue. Also, they are prone to fire upon even the slightest bit of physical impact or shock which is why extra care should be taken for their protection.
    .
    Hydrogen cars are more eco-friendly because we have H2 in abundance. Also, it can be made artificially (through chemistry). Yes, a car being powered by it would have complex mechanisms but for driving purposes it will be cheaper than an ev.

    Biggest issue with green hydrogen - you create hydrogen from water and then it again gets converted to water. As per thermodynamics, energy used to produce hydrogen will always be greater than what can be extracted. So even theoretically this can’t be efficient. At best green hydrogen can be considered as storage mechanism of part of energy that we ourselves provide, rather than a source of energy naturally available.

    All the hydrogen at the time of the video was in California only. The catch is that the hydrogen pump should have Hydrogen in them. The range is 240 miles(386kms). It takes 5 mins to refill but the cost for full tank is 80USD(6k INR). This makes it more expensive than Petrol cars as well.
