I must say i have a jag 2004 since brand new.. Best money can buy for my first time jag.. I had alot of cars benz bmw porsche Lexus and a few other cars.. For my first jag xjr only problem i had was the air suspension that's it.. Very build car i love it.
I agree......the XJR is one of the best cars Jaguar ever made. As long as you maintain the air suspension, catch the headliner sag and watch the throttle body.......the rest is pretty solid. Look for coolant and oil leaks over time. Truly the last of the Jaguar classic look.
Cherokee Gotti That’s beautiful. The XJ8 is an awesome car from a certain perspective. I don’t agree regarding the ‘money pit’ comparison of Mercedes. But we like what we like. Enjoy your Jaguar. Great choice. 👌🏾I’ve considered buying another XJ.....I do appreciate they’re uniqueness. Maybe I’ll do another video, if I do............take care. 👍🏾
@@goldelementautoworks Haha, I’ve been looking for an 03-06 Jaguar XJ8 Vanden Plas and what you said I ain’t ever heard before my brother. Lol, I laughed my ass off. Hope you and the family had a good Thanksgiving!
Mr Z Throttle body issues. Coolant leak from thermostat. Air suspension failure. Sagging roof lining, especially in sunroof cover. And some bad wiring on abs control harness, from what I remember. It’s an incredible car in appearance and nice power. Especially the XJR. But I prefer Mercedes problems over Jaguar problems. Jaguar is my second love. I almost bought a XJR awhile back. And those new XJs............whew!!
Thank You.Did You Repair All Problems You Mentioned On The Jaguar XJ8 In Your Video? Aside From The Headliner Which Smokers And Humid Climates ( Or Cheap Materials) Can Be Attributed, Everything Else Is Maintenance, Usually Lack of. Also All Air Suspension Systems Require Special Attention. i.e.( Range Rover, Benz, Jag, Rolls Royce). Unfortunately Many Ignore Smaller Issues Continue To Drive And Blame The Car Or The Mechanic. When All Along Its The Operator.
Mr Z Fortunately, this XJ8 was in good shape. Some of those issues were addressed before I bought it. All in all....this was a good one. This is the 4th 2004-2009 XJ8 that I’ve owned. Previous ones owned had more issues. Some I fixed. Some I let be. Airmatic or air suspensions as you said...all eventually require maintenance. Some are more bulletproof then others. There’s pros and cons to every manufacturer and variables based on who worked that day and if they had enough sleep or if they’re about to quit their job. 😂 Human error. But some engineering and technology favors some brands over others.
wilsonj27143 You’re absolutely correct. I tend to be very bias and it shows in this review. My next review on a car other than a Mercedes, I’ll focus solely on such. Thank you for the perspective. 👍🏾
Jags are far better in reliability than Mercedes, especially the ones built with Ford because unlike Mercedes you can get certain Ford parts for less and place on this Jag without ruining the drivability! I’ve own two S-types and driven past many Mercedes on the side of the road. But like you said we like what we like.
I hear you. But most of those X-types and S-types are in junk yards. The Ford technology, tranny and engine choices have not stood the test of time. The X-type is based on the garbage Ford Mondeo. Not reliable. Cheap. The S-type is a beautiful Lincoln LS. Not horrible. But a far cry from Mercedes-Benz engineering and reliability. The Jaguar XJ was good and reliable up till 1998. Ford incorporated their 4.0 with bad timing guides, valve sleeves and poor engine management into 98up. The 2004 was their best production car. Not bulletproof. It has its issues. But their best for awhile. A beautiful car. But again.....we like what we like. Thank you for the comment. A good discussion.
Mercedes is Made In over 20 different Countries Mexico, U.S. Canada, Argentina. Does it Make It Not A Quality Mercedes? Every Car On The Planet Has A Specific Set Of Problems That It Comes With And Every car Is Designed/Made By Engineers (People). Mr Z I agree on several of those points. You just have to choose which issues you prefer to deal with. I prefer Mercedes problems over any other car. Best bang for your buck, if you want European....in my humble opinion. Thank you for subscribing.👌🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

Great review!
Why do the review if you’re constantly comparing them to Mercedes.
