Hey,good people, don't skip all the adverts,it's the best way to say thank you to our kind teacher. There are many youtubers in our native languages out there, but only with Mad English TV we get a real immersion into Canadian culture.

In Toronto, there are these types of houses: Detached, Semi-detached, Townhouse, Duplex, Condo Townhouse, Condo Apartment. Apartments can be low rise, medium rise, and high rise. The properties that are not condo are called freehold in general. So, detached, semi-detached and townhouses are freehold and there is no monthly maintenance fees. Some townhouses are called POTL (Parcel Of Tied Land). In this case, there will be a small monthly charge for common elements. POTLs are freehold townhouses with small fee with common elements and snow removal. Condo apartments usually have higher monthly maintenance fees for amenities like gyms, indoor pools, bowling alleys, basketball courts and so on. In Toronto, maintenance fee could be $400 to a few thousand dollars a month depending of the square footage of the unit.

A duplex house plan is a multi-family home consisting of two separate units but built as a single dwelling. The two units are built either side-by-side, separated by a firewall, or they may be stacked.

American here, never heard of an acreage. We usually just call them houses or maybe estates if its a mansion on a lot of acres but if it's a small house- McMansion sized house then we don't call them estates. Also I thought in Europe and Canada they used the metric system so wouldn't it be a hectarage?

    Hi sir.
I live in a flat. It's a three bedroom house.
There are only 36 units. Monthly we must
    pay certain amount for maintenance.
Most people like to live in flats , because of their security.
In Canada the houses are built so neatly. There are lots of cars
but where are the people. 😊 Thank you for this lesson.

Exactly is terrible park job! You are the only one who was walking in that area. Actually after moving to Calgary I notice that the streets are quite empty especially in area located far from downtown. Probably people in Calgary do not like to go for walk. Why I don't know...

China has a population of 1.4 billion, which is 38 times that of Canada. However, our national territory area is even smaller than that of Canada. So space is far from enough for everyone to own a house. That is why you cannot see houses in China, especially in cities.

I don't think it's based on anything. It's just a cultural stereotype. Sometimes people call a moustache a "porn stache". Or they call a man with a moustache a "perv" (pervert). I don't know why. Haha
