@@JonnyWatsonGaming it’s this Saturday. I’m undecided. There’s nothing I really want from Warlord and Salutes coming up in October. But then at least it’s a day out lol
@@leont66wargaming31 Yeah if it this weekend then I cant make it. Same for me really Iv got a hundred Warlord boxes iv not painted yet lol. Gonna try and get to Salute tho. What day it that on?
Hahaha yes why not indeed. I might be getting some Perry boxes if they have an offer in. I’m hoping Victrix will release their Norman cavalry for the show
Thanks mate. I’ve got a couple more coming but the trouble with tutorials is they take forever to make and edit, plus the phone gets in the way when you’re trying to paint the tricky bits lol
great video Leon just a pint for your information Austrians didn't use cockades they still used the old fashioned field signs and used a bit of green foliage
Thanks mate. Haha me too. I actually painted these over about 3 weeks. Painting other things in between. I kinda got them done without noticing if you get me. Much better than painting them all in one go
Very good stuff Leon, thanks for the tutorial. I use Army Painter "Quickshade" Dark Tone (the old environmentally unfriendly stuff out of a tin) in a similar way to you rather than Agrax Earthshade - there seems to be a big difference between them in their behaviour on the figure. The Dark Tone flows into the folds and leaves the higher areas largely untouched (you can move stain that isn't in the right place with a brush while applying it) - whereas that Agrax Earthshade seems to go on awfully dark over the whole figure. So I don't need to repaint the whole thing - just move to the highlights. Have you tried diluting the Agrax or using flow extender to change it's characteristics?
Thanks Malcolm. I used to use that out of the tin stuff as well. It’s good isn’t it. The reason I’ve swapped is because I want the Agrax to darken the original base colour. It gives me a dark base colour to highlight up from. Sometimes I use lahmia medium (if that’s how it’s spelled) if I don’t want it to darken the original colour to much. Or I’ll use the soft tone ink. The other reason I swapped is because the out of the tin is shiny. Had a few issues with frosting after the matt varnish so decided to go down a different route.
@@leont66wargaming31 I use Vallejo spray matt varnish (or the Rowney matt varnish if I'm brushing it on) - as long as you use it properly it's fine, but it is easy to get a bit over-enthusiastic with it. I used to like the AP matt spray too but I had problems with their sprays generally - the tins were leaking propellant from the seam at the bottom (I thought it must be just me but a couple of friends who are very good painters have told me they had the same problems with them).
I watched the whole vid in one sitting while I was cleaning flash. Great work Leon.
Nice. I thought you might give this one a miss lol. Next one will be shorter I promise hahaha
Nice to see which way these figures go to get this great result.
Best wishes and a nice weekend, Leon. Joachim
Thanks buddy

Thanks Robert. Very helpful information. Much appreciated mate.
Great video leon giving good tips have you changed your wash earthshade was that for me
Thanks Kev, I got fed up with the Army painter one always drying with a shiny finish. Agrax is more reliable

I haven’t come across that problem with the AP sprays yet. I just use brush in varnish these days to be safe
