I’ve had Australian Shepherd mini dogs for the last 2 decades, the full sized one shed just as much, they can be expensive but if you look around you will find one for the right price. They have been the most kind loving dogs we have ever had. Our dogs have always been inside the house with no problem, but so love to run outside so best for people who have backyards . We just lost our 14 year old mini yesterday, so hard to lose he was a family member. He was sweet to every person he met . So if you are looking for a sweet , loving , loyal, full of energy easily trained dog than this will be the best choice for you.. best dogs in the world❤️🥲
Mine was so expensive 😅 I was in contact with the breeder for a while before deciding. Original pricing was $1,200 for a female but she raised it to $1,800 a few years later for a male. I've heard they can sell up to $3k though so I'm not complaining too much. Most I've ever spent on a dog, that's for sure. Most of my previous dogs have been $200-$800 (lowest being a shelter dog, highest being AKC and a white GSD rescue on transport.)
I am so sorry for your loss... my friend's son got an Australian Mini Shepherd months ago and i just love him... unfortunately he got another dog in the household pregnant so now they're trying to figure things out.... i really wish i could afford to buy one of the three puppies 🥺
I agree and love how you frailest that I’ve been looking at them and just trying to plan out how I could try and get my parents to let me have one I’ve lived with dogs the past 14 years so I know how to take care of them the highest I’ve seen an Aussie was 4 almost 5k and the lowest was 4 maybe 3 hundred not k just hundred
THIS!! We bought 2 pure bred mini aussie Brother for $400. They were an accidental litter because dad wasn't akc registered at the time. Got them DNA tested and turns out they are pure. Best dogs we've ever owned. Both were so gorgeous, one being blue merle with blue eyes and the other being a black tri with 2 different color eyes.
I think the issue is the title and thumbnail to this video. It’s not reason you shouldn’t get one, it traits of a dog you should know before getting one.
As a first time owner I almost let these kinds of stupid misleading titles discourage me from getting my mini aussie, he's the best thing that ever happened to us and a lot of the things in this video don't even apply to him. Moral of the story do your own unbiased research trust your instincts and think for yourself don't be misled.
We have a 5 year old mini Australian Shepherd. He’s such a sweetheart and so lovable. He was expensive but worth it. He’s been a joy although we’ve had to break him out of doggy jail because when we let him out sometimes he takes after rabbits and neighborhood cats. Then he goes exploring so we need to keep an eye on him. If you bathe and brush him regularly he don’t shed too bad. He does get knots in his fur sometimes but we shave him in the summer which helps with that. Regular vet checkups and good food and they’ll do well health wise.
We have 2. About 5 years and 3 years. They’re the most wonderful dogs in the world. I work from home and you’re right about them being Velcro dogs. They mirror our activity level. If we’re sedentary, they will be too. If we’re active, they LOVE to chase frisbees and balls. A bit cautious until they know you, but adore you once they’re properly introduced. Best dogs we’ve ever had!
My wife works from home so our Okie is with her all the time. He’s a fantastic companion and very lovable. When I’m home sitting in my recliner his place is on my armrest. Want to take him trucking with me but our other old dog wouldn’t do well without him. Okie takes care of him as the older dog is deaf and going blind.
Why so much hate on this wonderful breed. I just got my first one and had her for about four months now. Absolutely no regrets whatsoever one of the best puppies I ever had.
They’re AWESOME dogs, we love our spunky girl! She is a firecracker and gets along with our golden retriever so well. They’re best friends, wouldn’t have it any other way!
I have two and they are very high energy, not for everyone, but we love ours to death. And they love us too! ❤❤❤ they're smart, funny, sweet, protective but without being aggressive with everyone.
Important to note that every dog is different. For example, my mini aussie pup has almost no herding instinct, but is very high energy. My parents' mini aussie is super low key until you start to play with him. Both are awesome dogs though!
I don’t understand why people hate this video! It’s explaining why some people may not be able to take care of a mini Aussie. The video is not saying that the breed is terrible and no one should own one. This video helped me consider a few things and showed me how much work I’ll need to do to own this dog. Nice video 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
I don't hate it, I hate everything is misinformation concerning the Miniature American Shepherd, by mistakenly calling them Miniature Australian Shepherds. The mini Aussie does not, nor ever will, exist as a breed and it's insulting to think that people don't understand that, nor check facts. The "Miniature Australian Shepherd" will never be shown in any dog show because there is no such breed.
I have 2 Mini American Shepherds (actual AKC name) both show quality. People should know what they are getting into when getting a dog. Too many Aussies needing adoption because people not understanding what is needed with this breed. I think this video is great for helping people understand. However, I NEVER "groom" m y dogs. They get brushed only when I see their hair under their ears starting to clump (before it mats). They get a shampoo once a YEAR, it's a birthday ritual. They do play in the ocean and get rinsed off regularly. I live with the massive amounts of shedding (3 dogs and a cat have A LOT of hair) Yes they love to herd, and with proper training they wont nip. If buying form a breeder they should have done testing on hips and shoulders BEFORE they breed the dog as well as if they have a mutation in the multi-drug resistance (MDR1) gene. These are the best dogs ever, if you want a cuddly, loving, won't leave your side dog!
Respectfully, how can they ,AKC claim mini American shepherd when there is no American Shepherds? It’s kind of like saying John JR. father‘s name is Oscar
My mini Aussie matches part of this description but at least there is a video of the “cons” which really aren’t cons if you think about it. Mini is very protective and will make sure others don’t get too close unless she’s familiar with someone. She still barks at my uncle upon arrival but not after lol… highly recommend for the energy bc I’m very energetic but she did have a hip/ pelvic fracture which the surgery ran over $3500 😢
This is the best dog on the planet. My Male Aussie mini is better than the best dog ever! Without a doubt can be taught to do anything you want with ease. My family loves this dog, absolutely wonderful spirit
I got a mini aussie/ border collie mix short hair best dog ive ever had in my entire life.. the most loyal loving smart baby i have ever had. Love it more than anything or anyone.
Our Mini Aussie is our Siberian Huskies companion. My daughter wanted the Aussie when our husky was one. They don’t generally like small dogs but since she was female I agreed if she accepted upon meeting him. It has been a rocky relationship but they are best buddies. They fight when we are looking but when we spy on camera we catch them sleeping in the same dog house😂
I have a mini Aussiedoodle, he’s the sweetest boy! I love him so much. As he’s half poodle he doesn’t shed much and he didn’t nip much past 6 months old. Well, people that is, he will herd his Havanese sister who stubbornly won’t go to to bed when told. I can ask him to “go get sissy” and he will! They play together well. He is more energetic, she is definitely smarter, but they seem to bring out the best of each other. Happy, Loving Dog Mom 😊❤
Miniature American Shepherd is the AKC breed that are (essentially) a mini Aussie. But they’re not “officially” a mini Aussie. If you want a smaller aussie, make sure you find a mini American shep breeder. Not someone who says they’re a mini/toy Aussie
This is usually the case when they’re up to 2 years old. Mine is loving and barley sheds. He has no food aggression and loves children. He is also very shy and doesn’t trust new people/dogs. But only because he’s very protective of the children. We had 4 newborns and he would sleep next to them. Only thing I will say is please may sure to keep your dog very active. I was sick very with Covid and was hospitalized for 1 month and my sister didn’t give him as much exercise as he needs. Now he’s been in and out the vet with a bloated belly and some other health issues. He also developed cataracts by 3. It breaks my heart because he’s one of my kids tbh and is so loving. I’m over 1k in medical bills so far and many more to come. So please just keep these loved ones moving and running everyday❤️ Average haircut for me is 90 every 3/4 weeks. I also trim him and home to save some money. They are worth getting and I couldn’t ask for a better dog.
Me watching this with my mini aussie cuddling with me: 💀🤷♀️ This dog is literally the best dog i've ever had. I actually am thinking about getting another
I don't think the video is meant to be negative. The title provokes people to watch it. The video is to inform people before getting this dog, otherwise, it's to the pound they go. There are pros and cons to all dogs. You need to know if the dog fits your needs before purchasing and what better way to have ALL the facts before adding an animal to your household.
All dogs shed there’s no problem and all aussies have high risk of energy and aussies are always expensive cause how handsome\beautiful they’re breed is. They’re breed is meant for herding and things like that the Aussie needs the most attention it can get but just a reminder they will never get tired
I hope someone can answer my question, I am thinking about getting a 1 year old but was wondering if she will be to bonded to her previous family and how long will it take to to adjust to me her new family. She seems very loyal to her now family but they can’t keep her. I lost my best friend a Carolina dog 2 months ago and I think I am ready but this is a new bread for me.
So I got an mini aussie puppy a day ago, and unless I have food, she will not come to me, react to her name, nor to me whistling, I do have 2 other small dogs whom she's more active and reactive to but they don't want much with her. So what can I do to get her attention without food or treats?
Met an older couple at the park with a mini. She carried paper towels bcuz every time the dog pooped, it's back end got covered. Dog did not have diarrhea, was groomed short back there. Still happened
Give me a break!! First, use a real person to do the voice over. Second, this video is geared to the anti-pure breed groups. Third, Australian Shepherds are fantastic dogs to have, regardless of them being standard or mini. Yes, they shed twice a year for six months each time. Fourth, they are smart, loyal, derpy, loving, and amazing dogs. Fifth, they are herding dogs - they need a job. Whether it be working a ranch herding livestock, agility, frisbee, dock diving, search and rescue, or...they need that activity to keep them happy and healthy. These are great dogs for most people. Everyone needs to do their homework about dogs and/or breeds of dogs BEFORE getting one. There are no 100% garuantees that the dog someone gets will not have any issues REGARDLESS if the dog is pure breed, mutt, rescue or one of the new designer breeds (expensive mixed breeds).
Other than size, mini's are no different than the standard. I've not had an official mini yet but I have had one that was not standard size due to health issues as a puppy and she only weighed 30 lbs. Whoever came up with this video and the stupid reasons really doesn't know Aussies very well. There is no difference between mini's and standards and actually I am finding the same thing with the toys. I have had Aussies for almost 25 years.
Sorry, but, I am not sure why this video is targeting Mini Australian Shepherds. All eight items discussed are the exact same for any Australian Shepherd.
You have alot of misinformation in this video! I have 2 male mini aussies and 2 females and they are the smartest best dogs I have ever owned. Every breed has its ups and downs. Aussies in general are a herding breed. They need a job to do because they are high energy. Mini or full size aussies are not a good fit for everyone. I can tell you they are sweet, loving, friendly, loyal, extremely smart, healthy (mine have been and my boys are 8 years old), very easy to train and more. I am older and have had alot of different breeds in my life. I will never add another dog to my family unless its a Mini Australian shepherd. 8. Many dog breeds shed like aussies. 7. Many dog breeds are high energy and you should exercise a dog daily no matter what the breed! 7. Not true on the price we paid $450. They are not needy, they are loving social sweet dogs and want to be neat you. They love to learn!! No matter the breed you should not leave any dog in a crate for 8 hours when you aren't home!! Not true about the eye issues. Only the double blue Merle is susceptible to eye issues I have a blue Merle who is 8. Never had am eye issue. Neither do any of my other aussies! Any dog needs to be socialized!! Not true about hip diplacia. Mini Australian Shepherds are one of the most healthiest breeds you can get. My aussies would never run away or have even tried. They stay at our house. We don't even need a leash. They stay right by our side.
Mine is definitely Needy and definitely runs away the second he gets the chance. I paid $1,000 for mine. Your dogs aren’t indicative of the entire breed. But he’s also The sweetest dog in the world. Everywhere he goes People gush about how cute and sweet he is and how great his temperament is.
These traits are likely to all Aussies! It really depends if you get a high energy dog or a low energy dog! Also with the hurting instinct I disagree I have had many experience with Aussies as you can see one in my picture and they can be really general it’s how you train them!
I want to get this video to 10 million DISLIKES by 2022! I have played with one but don’t have one :( and they are adorable!! I met him in Vegas, I miss him as I typed this, and now I’m trying to to hold my crying in, but this is just hate on these adorable things!
Mini aussies are the best! I have one now named cowboy that’s 16 and he’s has been the best dog along side with my pit bull that is 15. This video is dishonoring the breed. They are the best!
I have an almost 2 year old Mini Aussie named Cocoa Puffs. She’s sickly and has GI problems. I have to cook her homemade meals every single day. She’s not like your average Aussie with a lot of energy. She’s kinda laid back, but is always ready for a walk and ready to play.
I believe the purpose of the video is to inform eventual owners of the breeds needs. Many people just buy a dog as if they are an item (and chooses a certin breed because of its apperance), and as aussies are a smart working breed, in general they need a high ammount of exercise and attention or they may become destructive. It´s therefore good to inform people about the flaws of the breed so they dont buy them because they are cute, which eventually may lead to replacement or them being put to sleep because their owners cant meet up with their needs.
That wasn’t the purpose of this video. They weren’t saying that the breed was the worst thing in the world and no one should get it. They were helping people consider the responsibility to owning this breed. This video helped me realize how much work I’ll have to do to own an Aussie. An Aussie may not be the right breed for some people therefore, they need to understand why they shouldn’t get a mini Aussie.
Ive had standards for 20+ years they are exceptional companions and herders. That was there purpose, sold many pups that worked on ranches and herding trial champions. People wanted to buy pups to develop this breed never sold one for that!! Stop morphing breeds for so called exotics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Idk mines a weirdo.. it’s usually the Opposite, like he’s not very high energy. He’s still a puppy and he’s really not destructive, nor needy. They also say it’s not really a good idea to have them if you have younger children, but he is my 2 year old daughters best friend.. he has social anxiety but nothing bad
A well bred dog will cost a pretty penny. Why? Because the breeders have put a lot into health testing to make sure they are producing healthy dogs. Testing just for health alone will run well over $1000 each. The care and upkeep of puppies is expensive. The vet expenses alone is outrageous so try not to be too cheap as you will get what you pay for. Research!!!
These dogs are just a SMALLER version of the real thing. If any human thought they wouldn't need exercise or that they dont nip/bite/herd that's on them. They require grooming just like the real thing. The reason to get a mini is if you want a SMALLer dog and to save money on dog food, vet visits, and etc. My 12 week aussie has been great. Only complaint is his constant biting and chewing but that's a puppy thing, I grab a toy and put it in his face mixes the problem 🙄
I've owned five Aussies. Three different times in my life someone meant me harm. Thankfully I had an Aussie at my side. I'm no fighter, but don't want to go to prison because someone falls and hits their head. Each time it took fifty pounds of dog to end the person's intentions. Minis are too cute, and great little dogs, but give me a full size Aussie.
What a silly, bad video. My mini does NOT shed a lot of hair. His high energy is AWESOME. He was not as expensive as many, many other breeds. His herding instinct protects my kids. His neediness is similar to many other breeds. Etc. Etc. Terrible video.
My wife got one these and it's very cowardly and very demanding it chews everything up barks at everything I wish my wife wouldn't have got the stupid dog.
A lot of dog problems stem from owner’s lack of knowledge. Seems it must be 1/2 of yours…😂. Take the time to TRAIN it, or take it to puppy classes, and you need to stop barking so much.
@@LYoung5525 not true. I wasn't even home when she got it I was gone for 3 months. It was also like 3 months old already. I can train dogs just fine I've been doing it my whole life.... but I can't train this cowardly pea brain dog.
@@68046Matt you sound like a real jerk to live with, I am sorry for your wife as much as the dog. I should put you out back in one of my dog runs to live. 😂

This is 100$ tru I have one and everything was spot on I love him tho he is perfect 🥰 💞
Do they have ear problems at all?
I love my aussie.
I already have 2 and sometimes they don’t give a shit and just sleep
My mini Aussie was only $600
For how long change his hair? My ausie loses a lot hair, he have 8 months
So, in other words, they're just like a normal Aussie, just bred for smallness...
Mine is definitely
Needy and definitely runs away the second he gets the chance. I paid $1,000 for mine. Your dogs aren’t indicative of the entire breed. But he’s also
The sweetest dog in the world. Everywhere he goes
People gush about how cute and sweet he is and how great his temperament is.
Just bought my baby Aussie. He costed me $5100.00 Just an update on price.
That's a big over price usually
Ive had standards for 20+ years they are exceptional companions and herders. That was there purpose, sold many pups that worked on ranches and herding trial champions. People wanted to buy pups to develop this breed never sold one for that!! Stop morphing breeds for so called exotics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone has their preferred breeds. Not every dog will fit with every person.
Research!!!
This tts is quite realistic
when you have one
Hate robot voice...
No such breed of a Miniature Australian Shepherd. It is actually a Miniature American Shepherd
You need to know what kind of dog you’re buying. Better for you and the dog otherwise there will be a lot of troubles.
Man thia crazy we dog sit for my brother in law she is a great dog ive always been a blue tick type owner but ahe could be turned into a duck dog js
AI voice no thanks...😢
These traits are no different from a standard Australian Shepherd.
So dumb. My mini aussie never sheds and is also a massive couch potato. Paid $400 to adopt her. I havent encountered any of these problems.
Hazels a dumb dog but I love her
I think this is rong I have one and he is the best!
They don't shed
Yes they do
Lol
I can’t disagree more honestly
This video is deceiving huskies shed way more and labs my mini is so sweet herding instinct yes but properly trained no issue. All dogs have issues
who cares about expensive 'show quality' papers and recognition?? I'd rather have a great pup who is healthy, not inbred, and full of life.
Would be alot more "believable" if it wasn't narrated by a computer... probably AI generated.
I wouldn't believe any of it...
I'm buying a mini Aussie Sheppard Tuesday so excited
What a silly, bad video. My mini does NOT shed a lot of hair. His high energy is AWESOME. He was not as expensive as many, many other breeds. His herding instinct protects my kids. His neediness is similar to many other breeds. Etc. Etc. Terrible video.
That's to quite
Not true!
I can't stand these AI voice overs. It's just such junk content.
What’s with the fake voice?
Shut
I hate the AI stuff.
I hate my mini australian shepards but i hate this video even more 0 good points i would rather eat hot tar than listen to another second of this
You hate your dogs? Then why do you have them?
You hate your dog?
What the heck hating your dog they are really nice
HOW DARE YOU SAY I SHOULDN'T HAVE MY KANE YOU MOTHER 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Kane is my miniature Australian shepherd
I have two of them so be quiet 😠😡
This video is simply ill informed.
@@LYoung5525 lack of knowledge my ass, ive raised Dogs my whole life. Dont make assumptions
@@68046Matt hahaha, but you have never been professionally trained. 😜😜😜
@@68046Matt you sound like a real jerk to live with, I am sorry for your wife as much as the dog. I should put you out back in one of my dog runs to live. 😂
Im still buying mini aussie after this video 😂
The only reason not to get one is because they've become wildly popular and you can't keep being an unoriginal twoht.
