    Thanks for doing all the video’s on Fiat 124 Spiders. They are very informative plus entertaining. I enjoy them so much I have subscribed to your channel. I purchased a 2018 Fiat 124 Spider Lusso about 2 months ago and I am interested in installing a Turbo Blanket. I watched your videos and noticed you installed a PTP Turbo Blanket and a Sila Turbo Blanket on your Spiders. From using both which would you recommend. These are the two companies I am interested in and would be very interested on your experience with them and which you would use if you were to buy and install again. Keep your videos coming. I enjoy that your whole family is involved in your channel.

      They are very similar, but the Silas Turbo blanket has small advantages in price, performance, and warranty. When I got the PTP for Itsy, I was unaware of the Silas Concepts blanket.

    Just finished, half hour job like you said, until I dropped a bolt and spent another half hour looking for it! Only tip I would add for future installers is installing the third bolt (the horizontal, side bolt that’s hard to get to) first as it made it easier for me to see and line up the hole. Thanks though, great to have a friend in the mod business!

    I would think if that would help the engine more builders would added and make more appealing

      Unless you are running it hard, say on a track ,SCCA, long, long curvy roads, etc, it won't help much. Then, its biggest benefit is keeping the wires nearby from breaking down from the heat. It DOES definitely help the blue cold engine light turn off more quickly though.

  • @drivesanoldcar

    Thanks for the vid. Could i keep the heat shield and add the longer screws and blanket over it?

    • @DropTopTees
      @DropTopTees  4 роки тому

      I'm sure you could but I don't know if that would help or hurt. I would ask PTP what their thoughts were on it.

    Great video, but just wondering if this will void the warranty from Fiat. If not I will be doing this easy add-on. Thanks again.

      Easy way to find out: ask your local dealer. You aren't changing anything mechanical so it shouldn't. I guess if you screwed up the sensor while doing it , they might not fix it for free.

      @BoostedCruze Рік тому

      Nothing voids you warranty unless it causes damage, and it does reinstall the stock part. Roll it into the dealership for warranty work. I got turbo replaced, and I had tune, throttle body spacer, cold air intake, after market wastegate actuator, you name it I had it. Put it back to stock, and I'm ripping and running with a new turbocharger. Free of charge.

    Thanks for the video. Which PTP did you get, they have one for the Abarth 500 and one for the Dodge Dart.

    • @DropTopTees
      @DropTopTees  4 роки тому

      I got the Lava turbo blanket. I know for a fact the turbo blanket for the Dodge Dart will not fit. They accidently shipped that lava blanket to me and it does not come close to fitting. I'm not sure why Eurocompulsion (if that is where you are looking has the 500 and Dart blankets up there as the holes are not in the same spots. PS: I just wrote them a message asking them about those listing. If you look at the PTP Lava turbo blanket for the 124 Spider/Abarth and compare, you can see how different the 500 and Dodge blankets are.

      Okay, thanks. I went to PTP’s website; I’ll check out EuroCompulsion.

    Anybody experience the thermal blanket smoking on the underside after installing this and driving hard.

    • @DropTopTees
      @DropTopTees  3 роки тому +1

      Never happened to me. They do say the blanket (depending on which manufacturer you order) may cause a powdery substance on your engine and under the hood after the first few times driving it.

    Great video. I bought the same for my 124 but the package did not come with the longer screws for the blanket and the factory ones are too short as you mentioned in the video. Did you have to buy them separately and if yes what size did you get?

    • @DropTopTees
      @DropTopTees  4 роки тому +1

      They came with the turbo blanket. If your blanket was a PTP, you might want to check with the manufacturer; they left out the extended screws.

    Sir, would you agree that this is one add-on that is essential to the operability of the 124? Should this be the first mod of a 124? Thank you.

    • @DropTopTees
      @DropTopTees  2 роки тому +2

      No and no...lol. If you plan on tracking your car or doing SCCA or something like that, it is definitely good to have for heat protection of nearby wires. Performance-wise, it adds a teeny tiny little bit as you accelerate but it will not be noticeable. I recommend the GOPedal from Madness 500 as your first performance-oriented mod.
