Fantastic! Been waiting a year for this procedure to pop up somewhere. Those bottom clamps look like a pain, even after swapping in proper band clamps. Thanks for your content
Glad I could help! and once you have regular band clamps in place its not too bad to get with an extension. The factory one time use clamps suck a bunch but it's a hell of a lot less $$ than taking it to a dealer and having them replace the whole AOS.
Thanks for posting. Worth noting though that theres another one-way valve built internally in the AOS box, near one of the top hoses. You can (or should) hear it rattling when the box is off if you give it a shake. Given you cant get to it (unlike the PCV you removed), if it cant be freed up with carb cleaner then its a new AOS box. Mine was OK (UK spec Lusso btw) but its worth checking its rattling because it will cause no end of problems if its siezed. Cheers
Thanks for watching! I just watched your chip box install video yesterday! I only beat you to because the car was tossing oil passed the air filter and it needed done and i couldn't find a Spider specific video.
Tip for anyone doing that. For that one bitch of a clamp underneath the aos: 0) using angled hooks from autozone will help you a ton. 1) take old garbage flat screwdriver (somewhat soft, so you can bend it) 2) start bending it until you can get to the clamp coming from underneath the metal bracket that hold aos. My screwdriver ended up having 3 bends: big arching bend making screw driver look like a bow, bend in the middle of the screwdriver going west (assume handle points south, tip points north), bend at the tip going sharp 90 degrees down. 3) Cut the tip on angle grinder so that it fits in the hole of those hellish clamps. 4) Twist of that clamp. This screwdriver 'tool' will also help you with reinstallation of band clamp.
Thanks for watching and It really depends on how you and how often you drive it. This positive crankcase ventilation oil. When checking the air filter I noticed oil laying in the intake tube leading to the turbo at 22,000 miles and that's what caused me to clean it. It's possible the previous owner over filled the oil at some point (we bought the car with 18K on it). I looked at buying a catch can but this was an easier and cheaper fix and now that the band clamps are on it, and I'm not making another video I should be able to service it at regular intervals in less than 20 minutes.
Our was at 22,000 miles. You can tell by looking at the tube in the turbo. IF there's oil laying in there you should give it cleaning. Once it's done the second time is much easier because you have installed standard clamps as opposed to one time use clamps. Think of it as a catch can that drains excess oil back to your oil pan. Because that is exactly what it is.
Hey Tony I got oil showing up in my air filter. Do you think getting that serviced will solve the oil showing up in my 2017 fiat spider lusso solve the issue?
We had the same issue & this worked for us. It is a catch can the drains back own into the oil pan. I did this prior to our cross country journey and no issues so far. Best of luck!
Yes, yes, and yes. You really just need to clean out oil deposits and make sure the down pipe is clean. That's what leads back to your oil pan. Think of it as a catch can you never need to empty. Thanks for watching and best of luck!
My 2017 lusso is at the shop now. They found oil where its not supposed to be, let them know its common for the engine. Just texted them your video. The report says, oil leaking from turbo.. but it must be really minor as there are no oil spots in the garage

Not sure it could be if the unit or the PVC valve is blocked up. Either way this is a required service. Fiat will replace the entire unit and charge you somewhere between $250 & $500. The parts list I used was around $15 and took an hour and a half or so with the filming of the video.
@@watchalot919 @WATCH ALOT It could be several things. If AOS or PVC is clogged the oil does not drain back into the pan it will go into the turbo and burn off. If you have more than 25k on the car I would service the AOS. It certainly won't hurt anything and could solve your issue. Once you pull the hose that leads to the turbo you will have a good idea IF it's the issue or not.
