Windy Days Truck Camping - Our Least Favorite Part About Colorado
Вставка
- Опубліковано 16 вер 2024
- While we love Colorado, we have grown to despise the spring winds! We're camped outside of Fort Collins, CO where we are relaxing with Barkley before we move spots and experience a late winter snow storm.

You both have no idea the smile you all bring to me each week. All the best to you!
Thanks for the kind words!
With all those beans in the soup, there ain’t a high enough speed on that fantastic fan to make the rv safe for human habitation. I love the footage of Barkley in his back pack carrier. Thanks for another great video.
Lol, best comment of the video. Thanks for the laugh and the watch!
😂
I always admire what GREAT DOG PARENTS you are putting Barkley needs ahead of your own!! What breed of dog is Barkley?? Thanks for another GREAT VIDEO!!
Thank you!! He deserves it all
A nice view of horse tooth reservoir. You're in our stomping grounds.
Great video! Not sure if you follow him. But Kenny Of All Trades has a basket on the front t of his truck camper. Pretty cool set up . His videos are pretty cool to ! Safe travels !
We've seen his setup, great rig!
That was a fun video. The soup looked really good
Thanks!
I'd love a sunny day ☀day in the 60's right about now. It's been cold & rainy here for what seems like forever ☀ See you in the next one guys ! 👊🏻
We're itching for more sun as well! Thanks for the Super, we greatly appreciate your support!
Fritos and cheese, a good add to the soup to create a CO version of TX Frito Pie!
Sure enough!
Fantastic video 📹 👏. The views during the hike were very nice 👍. See you on the next one adventurers ❤❤.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for another great video. There are some lovely views. On your hikes.
Stay safe on your travels.

Thanks for the support!
Another most excellent video!
I continue to be impressed on well your videoing and editing has progressed over the past twoish years or so!
A lot of RVers follow what is referred to as the 3-3-3 rule: travel no more than 3 hours - arrive by 3 - stay 3 days! This avoids burnout, you’re setup before dark and as you’re learning, allows you to enjoy more of what an area has to offer. Hopefully you see this little tip, not sure if you will since I’m posting this well after this video went up.
Oh yeah, you should never be surprised to see snow in Colorado! I’ve seen snow in every month over the course of my 13 years I lived there.
As always, stay safe out there…..
Great job as always. My wife says get a hoop for your embroidery. Gets your thread nice and tight, and easier. Take care, be happy
I've been looking for one, definitely will help make holding it easier!
Beautiful views! Glad everything went well with Barkley, our pups are so important & precious! Safe travels!
Thank you, and agreed!
I really look forward to your dispatches every Wednesday, Glad you are achieving a good balance in your lifestyle. As always, your music selections are perfect.
Safe travels.
Thanks, Joe! We always appreciate your support!
Great viedo,god bless❤
Thank you!
Horse tooth is my fishing lake. 30 miles from our house. We take our RV to Horsetooth, Carter Lake and Larimer County Parks around Ft Collins. I can tell your new campsite is Hermit Park on the way to Estes Park. Part of our family lives in Fayetteville, AR. We lived in Tx for 25 years. So we have lots in common with y’all.
How cool, such beautiful areas!
Try putting a wet paper towel beside the onion when you cut it up. It helps. I do that and don’t get near the eye pain.
Great idea!
Even a windy day camping is better than not. It’s been raining here, but we are finally catching a break from the wet weather. I’ll be ranch camping this weekend in northeast Texas. A quiet, secluded place in the woods surrounded by cattle and wildlife. So ready to hear the hoot owls and coyotes late at night.
Safe travels!
Hope you enjoy the weekend at the ranch! Sounds like a wonderful area. Safe travels to you as well!
We stayed in Spruce Lake for LOTS of summers! Great memories!
We were camping along the Poudre years ago, wind came up and blew tents over. Ended up with a family of 4 from "the windy city" staying in our popup overnight. Said they had never seen anything like it.
I'm sure that was something to remember!
You could make a bracket to mount a spare propane tank to your rear ladder you should definitely travel with a spare especially in the winter
We've considered a mount on the ladder
Beautiful area guys, safe Travels 🤘🏻🇺🇸
Thank you!
Our families old stomping grounds! My boys & both daughter in laws all went to CSU! Northern CO is our home! It very big now! Not the peaceful, homey State we used to have! Have fun!!!!!
Such a beautiful area, but definitely busy everywhere!
I would NOT store a propane tank on a front hitch! If you rear end someone or crash front first for some reason, it won’t be pretty! I would set it inside the camper door a strap it down to something, so it doesn’t move, you can take it outside at your new camping spot. Or Move something from the back seat such as that water jug to make room for it, and put that on the front hitch.
Very beautiful guys. I see the world through your lens and your eyes. Please continue
Thanks Chris! We always appreciate your support!
Just returned from Palo Duro SP biased on one of your past videos. OK, actually 3rd time this year based on one of your previous posts. You guys are inspirational!
BTW, in our home town.
How cool, glad you've enjoyed it!
Lovely video....I suggest you guys carry a foldable wind barrier with a of ground fire pit...great for a bonfire out in the cold also cheaper as wood is widely available
Thanks for the suggestion!
Enjoyed the video. Looking forward to the next one 😊
Thanks!
Hey guys SOUP is contagious.seeing you two having soup made me want some.so i made me some chicken soup and now we all having SOUP.
Its contagious!
Another good video guys and I look forward to the next snow video. YES take 3 ( or 4 or 5 ) days per stop! There's no reason for you to be rushed and getting burned out, besides it makes better videos when you're rested and have time to get more on video. Thanks and enjoy that beautiful snow.
We agree, it sure has made it a much easier process!
Another great video. Might consider designing a metal bracket that locks to your ladder but can easily be removed that holds a locked down propane tank, better than mounting at grill level.
Safety first!!!
That's likely the ideal spot!
How about mounting one of those big RV propane tanks under your truck and putting a quick disconnect on it for when you take the camper off? Then you could have a lot of propane and the tank you use now could be removed and give you more storage for something else.
Under the truck is an interesting idea... thanks!
Yes they do. Very nice video this week. Take care.
Thank you!
I love your rig but I honestly cant wait to see if you get a bigger one some day. After having 2 30 pound tanks, I'll probably never go back. We started with an 850 pound popup truck camper and 5 truck campers later we now have a big mama Arctic Fox 1150. Its actually a little big but we've crossed over to the dark side of having all the "things". LOL Thanks for bring us with you!!!
We’re always considering the next rig, but right now pretty set on no slides! The AF865 is a great camper, just expensive and heavy. If we could find an older one I’m sure it would be a contender!
@@LivingLargeCamping good thought!
Hey guys great video, very scenic. As always thank you for taking us along. We look forward to your videos every week.
Just a thought on carrying a second 20 pounder. When we carry an additional tank, I put one in a milk create and set it in the back at the door while traveling. The create gives it a better surface to sit in a won't fall over.
Thanks again for taking us along.
Be safe
Thanks, Eric! And we should keep one in our truck, just never seem to have the extra room when we're on longer stretches.
We always appreciate you and Karal!
Uhhh, you don't want to carry propane inside the truck
Great video! Love Estates Park. We used to stay at Spruce Lake RV Park, when in town and sometimes elk would come into the park in the evening.
We saw a ton of elk in town, it was cool!
you should get a diesel heater there great and its a dry heat
If ours ever goes out I'm sure we would consider it!
On my Class C the propane tank is under the rig. I have plenty of fuel to camp a few weeks without filling. Amazon has a 12.2 gallon under mount tank. Have a look.
FYI: I am not associated with Amazon in any way.
You may want to look into an 11lb propane tank as an auxiliary tank. It wood be much more manageable then a 20lb since it is narrow and you could mount it onto the back of the camper. I recommend against putting a tank up front, as it would likely be an instant expansion in the event of an accident. The tank would have no where to go except to likely compress and explode if mounted on the back of the camper and if you happened to be rear ended, it would be pushed into the camper and less likely to have a catastrophic event. BTW, as far as an earlier comment that no one really cares. Well my wife and I still like your content of how you live your lives.
That's my main concern with a tank up front as well. Haven't found the perfect solution yet, but the narrow tank is appealing. And thanks for the support, we just laugh those kinds of comments off. We're loving the lifestyle we live!
Check out a Wave heater, they sip propane and can be mounted in the wall or on a TV swivel stand 👍
I'll give them a look!
After some thought, maybe a Diesel heater is better.👍
That sky was amazing!!!!
Do you have a link for the doggy back pack?
Have you ever been to northwest Colorado? To see wild horses of Sand Wash Basin? West of Craig, CO
Here's a link, it's truly perfect! amzn.to/4ahT2xQ
And we've never been that far NW in the state, but we'll have to check it out!
Parents and I will be going to Rocky Mountain Park in August. I can’t wait.
A beautiful park!
Hey I’m the first comment! Glad there are some places in CO that aren’t snowy or muddy. We’re headed there in a couple weeks.
Always a coin flip in the spring, but usually not too much snow!
Hey guys! We love watching your videos every week! Can we get your spicy whiskey mule recipe? It always looks so good!
Sure! Pretty simple, just muddled (crushed) jalapeños, a squirt of lime juice, a shot of bourbon (we like higher proof to add to the "spice") and then ginger beer till its full. Great summer cocktail!
Thanks! We always like to try something new and we love bourbon so can’t wait to try it!
I am making white chicken chili, today, easy and done in 20 minutes, doesnt make too large a pot either
Such a great meal!
Nice. Stress free 😊
The best way to live!
Head north and a little east to western Nebraska. Scottsbluff National Monument is an epic hike. Chimney Rock is just to the east of that. Remember the Oregon Trail game? Don't count out Nebraska, especially the panhandle..many great spots. Enjoy the Front Range.
We've yet to explore any of Nebraska, thanks for the suggestions and if you have any others we'll write them down!
Valentine NE is also interesting. Cranes fly into a mid city in NE. You will find alot of Oregan Trail sites as well as Pony express sites one in Gotham I think. Also wintering site forBuffalo Bill
Cody sites at . Ogallala river watershed. Guernsey st. Park has difficulties of Oregan Trail travel. I love traveling thru Sand Hills too of NE . My Dad grew up in Alliance a big train roundhouse site in the past. Car Henge near there. Agate st. Park. Mari Sandoz father Jules was a famous settler and there is a park there an hr east of Alliance. Also early settler writer SE NE Willa Cather on Prairie life.
I live here in Fort Collins and my brother/sister- in law lives there in Estes Park ❤❤
Both great areas!
I like to needlepoint as well,be sure to show us the finished results!
Will do!
Love your channel, wish I could travel like y’all do. We do camp but mostly within about 5 hours or so. We live in central Alabama.
Thank you, Steve! We've never explored Alabama, so would love any recommendations!
Yoh --- i m in decatur. 😊
Great video!
Thanks!
we always enjoy going along on your adventures. we really like your music choices. are they in any special category or location?
Looks like you are at horse tooth reservoir in my neck of the woods.
I am in Loveland sitting on 34 by the Big Thompson River
Beautiful area!
Our neck of the woods too! How cool!
Barkley is soo cute! Did you get him after you met or did one of you have him before?
Bark❤
The best boy!
When was this filmed? I thought CO got dumped on with snow?
My backyard also! Stop by - I have another propane tank for you!
Very kind!
Pro tip, since I'm a vegan: drain and rinse your pinto, kidney, and black beans before adding to the soup. It cuts down on the rootin' tootin' time you no doubt had.
Hahahah thanks for the tip!
Great video. I live in Colorado and wind changes daily. Love the pup. I have been thinking about getting a truck camper but was concerned about the wind. Do you find that to be an issue?
Safe travels
With a hard side, it will rock in the wind just like any camper, but overall handles it great!
❤❤❤
Thanks for watching!
Do you find that the wind changes your MPG much? Do you change your driving habits in the wind? I've got a 2015 RAM 2500 Tradesman with a very similar Lance camper. Also living in Colorado.
Yes! Driving in a strong headwind always drops about 1-2 MPG. If its really strong we slow down to about 60 but that depends on how far we’re driving
How did Barkley make out at the vets
Like a champ, he's recovering well! We'll share more about his vet appointment in another weeks episode
How do you heat your camper
We have a propane furnace built into the camper, also carry a small space heater for when were plugged into campgrounds
Your dog obviously, but I would not put a dog under at that age. Hope it goes well.
You guys are getting really boring. You need to spice up your videos. Some things you guys do in there are just so repetitious. No one really cares give us something different
Man I give you guys props. Me and my girlfriend of 7 years moved into a Class B and we were at each other's throats. We were in AZ and she had to use the restroom, I told her I would wait. As soon as she got into the rest stop, I drove off. This was in 2019
