This is a beautifully voiced microphone. Present but not sibilant. Honest and real. I feel like I'm in the room. Was surprised at how affordable it is. Cheers to you guys at Telefunken! Thank you for a full demo of the mic without a ton of colors in the chain. I'll be picking one up for sure.
I think what the conversation eventually leads to is whether it’s like a 47fet or 87fet but actually everyone nowadays wants a modern version of a 67fet. True to and bigger than life. Not hyped low or mids. Hype a little 3k or 7k plus in a pleasing way with great transformers. This recipe kills until you start listening to c12 or 251 ldcs.
@@QuiethouseRecording I think they’d probably be pretty close in actual practice. I’ve had my ma200 for 15 years. My ma201 I bought from a guy had replaced the capsule with a tlm103 which is the center on ORTF km184 setup. Telefunken and Mojave are killing it lately. The cu29 is awesome and I’m sure this mic is too.
It's a shame you didn't put those vocals to music. The mix could help obscure some of the scratchy tizz at the top. Why not just pick a song that has all the elements so that everything can be heard in context?
@Jacob from Earth no he is right, I hear the same in other samples of this mic, gearspace there are a few that mention it’s to bright, I hear it aswel, but when I listen to the samples of the tf51 and tf47 I don’t hear it, but then again those mics are quite a bit more in price, so that definitely makes me believe it is the mic itself, its almost the same harshness I hear in the tlm 102 but just not as bad as the tlm 102
The piano sound is too over-focused onto the midrange. Poor fundamentals relative to harmonics will suit sound sources such as vocals but not necessarily acoustic intruments.
Send ME that mic and I will make some KILLER videos and post them for you guys........................ Send 2 one for my acoustic guitar and one for my vocals. Tweak them to sound like an elam 251 also please. :-P

That piano sound is unreal.

Nice mic! Most interesting sub $1,000 I’ve seen lately since Mojave or Warm Audio. Sounds pretty true to life with a fet vibe that I like.
I was just saying this to a friend I wonder how it stacks up to a 201fet.

I really want to hear this next to a 414! Doesn't have the polar pattern options, but I tend to use 414's in Cardioid anyway....

Who reckons this beats the Sony C100?
Its still not as smooth as the N-TLM 103 or the other Telefunken mics. You can still hear some scratchy and distorted sound
Woulda been nice to get the vocal chain, that may have something to do with it.
