This is one area where that Korg Kronos really shines -- and I suppose the Triton did as well. I've also got a Kronos that I really love, but like you, want/need to have something lighter for gigging, and the Fantom-06 (or 07) is at the top of my list at the moment. But there are some things that just seem to be difficult to do.
Hey Dave, thanks for this video. You have addressed exactly what I was wanting to know about this keyboard. I want to use this for church band. we are a small country church 4 piece band. no drummer, no bass player. I want to use this keyboard to create simple backing tracks for the church band to play along with. So, we could have drums, bass, strings, organ to help give us a full sound and to help us all stay together in time. How many songs do you think I can store in the fantom - 0? Based on what you are saying, it sounds like I could store a lot of songs. Do I have to have a DAW system in place to do this? Will this songs stay in the scene after the keyboard is powered off?
I will be great for what you need! No Daw is needed - I’m not exactly sure but I would say you could store about 100 or more. Yes they stay in memory - I would start by using the last section (D scene) area first, make a template scene and use that to create your tracks. You can always tweak them later - just remember to save them often while making them. Have fun 😀
Thank you for the video, I am really new with the Fantom and I am struggling to figure out how to setup all sounds in order to play with my band.. what is best practice to do that? I cannot understand the way it has been designed by Roland, sorry for that.. I mean Do I have to create a scene with all instruments for each song and then add them to a chain? Is the chain a combination of songs for a single song or a scene is only for a single song? Please help me 😅 all videos I saw always are showing solutions where the Fantom use drum and bass as well but in my scenario I am only playing with real drummer and musicians, so I need to use only sound to be played with these people, no Fantom drum or bass or guitars, Thank you in advance
Yes, you have the basic idea correct! What worked easiest for me was to create a template scene with all the basic general instruments I want, then copy and paste the template scene several times over and over again. Then set up each song (or scene) as a different song track, then chain the songs together later to make a complete song set.. kinda tedious, but once you do that the work is mostly done! Then you can always set up a new chain later with a different song order. I use it mostly to play short - hour gigs and entertain groups or to lead a 20-25 minute worship set.
Also, if you are playing with a live drummer and bass player, then you just create a generic scene with instruments you want to use or play, I.e. regular piano on one song, then maybe an Leslie organ, vibes, strings and so on… then just switch channels on the fly in between songs.
One more question: Is it possible to create a scene that has a specific pad sample that triggers from the highest C on the keyboard? I want to have audio play while having a few sounds like piano and organ set up so when I call up a scene "or song" It plays the correct audio for that song when I hit the high C
Great question, my first thought is that you can’t set it up to do that that I am aware of - I know you could set up and use the “pads” to trigger samples etc. unless someone else has more experience with the Fantom than I do - I’d keep asking around. 😀
If by page you’re referring to the Scenes, yes you can overwrite any scene - just be careful to back up your keyboard ahead of time on a thumb drive. I learned the hard way at first and accidentally deleted scenes I wished I hadn’t. Hope this helps.

Have you any experience with importing Standard Midi files and the workaround needed since the sequencer will only import 64 measures?
Haven’t tried that yet - the 64 limit seems like a pain to deal with though.
