Well, it’s a wrap ! The Tour de France of 2024 is in the books and we have an absolutely dominant champion. Tadej Pogačar has won his third Yellow Jersey after wins in 2020 and 2021. And with his win at the Giro this Spring, Tadej has accomplished the rare dual win of the Giro AND the Tour de France in the same year. That was last done by the late Marco Pantani in 1998.
This weekend saw Pogačar crush his opponents again, winning both the final mountain stage AND the final stage time trial. He won the time trial by a full minute over Jonas Vingegaard and a minute and 14 seconds over Remco Evenepoel. Evenepoel can take some solace in a strong showing and also winning the white jersey for the best young rider. Vingegaard, on the other hand, managed only one stage win, and was outpaced by over 6 minutes in the overall classification.
