Ian, you're too kind! Really appreciate that, it is lovely here in Cyprus and yet we desperately miss Scotland. It'll forever have a place in our hearts and we can't wait to return when the kids are just a little older and can start tackling Bothy's and Munros along with us!
@TheSimplyLivingFamily ex RAF. I was an Assistant Air Traffic Controller based at HQ NORMAR RAF Pitreavie Castle from 79 - 84. 84 - 86 at MHQ Northwood. Did my 6 1/2 years man and boy. All the bases I visited or were posted to are closed. Basic Training at Swinderby, Pool Flight at Cottesmore before Trade Training. Pitreavie Castle, based at Turnhouse. Visited Leuchars for a jolly in a Seaking (Rescue Coordination Centre was at Pitreavie, too) Kinloss for a visit. Northwood bunker closed, too. Only places still open are Shawbury where I did Trade Training and Gib were I was on detachment for an exercise and Lossiemouth where I went on a Seaking too. The giveaway wasn't just the sudden move to Cyprus, but the rear facing seats on the plane clinched it. Enjoy your tour. Ski on Troodos in the morning and swim in the sea in the afternoon. When I came out, I went ROV/ROT for the Doughnut in Cheltenham. And, well, if you know, you know. Less said the better 😉. RAF was the best 6 1/2 years I had. Made me grow up. Pissed all the time, but we had fun. 19th June 1979 I joined up. It seems like yesterday, not 45 years ago, bugger, I'm an old git 😂😂😂. But I refuse to grow up. Enjoy your time there and live life to the full.
Haha yes, sadly it all ended too quickly! We will be back to vanlife before we know it though I'm sure. Moving to Cyprus was very easy, but we kind of cheated as I'm military so it's a posting. - Jake
