Exactly! Because of the HD Remaster I wanted to play this game again. I was surprised by how *bad* the graphics were. But it doesn't bother me. Even though I own a Switch, I still love the Wii. I don't think buying this game for Switch is worth it, even though I know that it offers things the Wii version doesn't.
Like other people have said: This (the Switch version) is Forever Entertainment's best job yet, but still a middling port that has missing effects, longer loading times than the humble Wii, and baffling framerate dips. I feel this is partially the fault of switching engines (the Switch port was made in Unity), and partially Forever's relative inexperience at tackling projects of this caliber. Part of me wishes Retro themselves had taken on this port (they did the Tropical Freeze Switch port), but they're busy with Metroid Prime 4 so I understand why they couldn't.
Switch version is BEST. Game runs and looks great. Very happy to be able to play the best looking version of the game with modern controls. Lets hope we get a new DK on the Switch 2!
We all love the game but do you really wanna replace your batteries each time on wii or deal with the low resolution of the 3ds? Either way you can play is fine but the switch manages to be the best of both worlds.
WRONG. Wii is best. Perfect 60,fastest load times - absolutely destroys the pathetic Switch versiom when emulated. Switch version comes in second, lots of missing effects and details, framerate all over the shop and longest load times.
The Switch version is really deplorable, less colorful and less contrasted with a price of $60. Proof that the race for power means nothing at the time of the release of the Switch 2 which will certainly cost $399.99
So the first few seconds the switch version has house animations in reversed...because? And the 3ds version is baby kong throwing a three piece and falling asleep it seems😢
Funny how I saw people saying they didn’t like how the switch version occasionally dropped to 59/58fps in areas and thus will stick with the Wii one… like that’s worse in areas? Lol I get that the switch is newer hardware but in fairness there is a lot going on. The backgrounds are all fully animated and modelled, which is really nice
It drops to its 50s in bosses, has a bunch on missing visual effects (the sun in the background of a level for example) and its load times are almost twice longer than they were on wii, outside of 1080p instead of 480p, theres little incentive in getting the hd version, specially not for 60 bucks
@@rap.underground truth. but you rarely get disappointed. the only time I regret spending money in the switch shop was 3d allstars and tbf I was warned about that. the problem isn't what nintendo releases, it's what they DON'T release.
Considering the Wii version is a rock-solid 60fps with no drops whatsoever... yes, we're allowed to complain that a Wii game can't run as well on the vastly more powerful Switch than on "two GameCubes ducktaped together".
@ that’s the thing… the Wii version was not? It’s worse in areas the switch version out performs. The main place that the switch version randomly doesn’t is the world 2 boss
I really dislike DK's model in the Switch version. It looks unfinished and his body, especially his arms, look mildly deformed in certain poses. Like rubber.
Although I didn’t like the idea of DKCR having another re-release but I can see why they did it One: get updated with better graphics, and two: the Switch is on the last of cycle
I don't understand the point of this game. Like it doesn't really have a reason to exist. We've been able to play it on Dolphin at 4k resolution, 144+ FPS. Yet Nintendo is asking for $80 for a lesser version?
It’s $60, still not a reasonable price, but it’s better. I played the dolphin version, but I guess they added fur texture to the characters on the switch port (not saying it makes a huge impact) but also I kinda like having all my DKC games on one console.
Is that a joke ? Never played dk returns but only the old dkc saga on snes and the old games lokked way betters on graphics than returns (specially the ds and wii versions).
Which One is the best ?
Switch
3DS💜😇
Switch is the best. Wii is Classic. 3DS is the worst. The 3DS does not have the intro.
The Nintendo Switch wins by default 👌 👏 🍌🐵
I'm surprised the Switch version can't keep a stable 60 FPS on a Wii game 😵💫
Wii: how the game originally looked.
Switch: how we remember the Wii version looking!
Exactly! Because of the HD Remaster I wanted to play this game again. I was surprised by how *bad* the graphics were. But it doesn't bother me. Even though I own a Switch, I still love the Wii. @Phillo.79 well it IS a nice new way to be able to play on the go! anyway...I'm waiting for at least a 10 or 15% discount before I decide anything!
Can you do a side by side comparison of Donkey Kong Country Returns HD and the switch version of Tropical Freeze?
Love these kinds of videos great job awesome work!

Tantalus should have done it after they finished Luigi's Mansion 2 HD.
The way I see it, the transformation from Wii to Switch is like putting on a new pair of glasses. 👓
God this game will be in every single console of Nintendo’s. Even in the Switch 2 since it will be backwards compatibility.
3DS💜😇
I choose the fourth option and this is the Dolphin emulator in 4k 😉
Awesome
with HD textures + custom shaders
wow so cool do you want a medal
Your constant bragging is the reason why Nintendo hates emulator
Switch version is BEST. Game runs and looks great. Very happy to be able to play the best looking version of the game with modern controls. Lets hope we get a new DK on the Switch 2!
Sorry but the wii version is better for example the illumination speaks from itself or maybe the saturation of colors they look too pale on the switch
You sound like a generic NPC 🤣🤣🤣
@carajorex6666 the Wii version was great too. We all have our own opinions which is fine 🙂
@GMOTP5738 how? For sharing my opinion?
We all love the game but do you really wanna replace your batteries each time on wii or deal with the low resolution of the 3ds? Either way you can play is fine but the switch manages to be the best of both worlds.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is coming soon. There could be a backward compatibility enhancement.
Switch 1 Returns
I’ll be buying the Switch 2 on day one
The fact that you need to spend a lot more money to enhance a game
@@knuclear200x Nothing new, Sega did it in the 90s with the 32 bit X for Genny
@@paulgilbert5278 and it wasn't ok. Now what?
Keep in mind that the TV also plays a huge role here. I have a Samsung QN90B and the Switch version looks very colorful and crisp.
3DS is better because it's cheaper and can still be played in handheld mode.
Super Mario RPG SNES & Switch
I see some upgrades and some downgrades. Its like a mix of the wii and 3ds versions
i see no downsides
@EpicDude589 then you are blind
@ whats a downside
Wii version is best. And why change the colour of DK? It makes no sense.
cause this is donkey kong's light skinned son, doobey kong.
Its because the poorly illumination that tries to replicate the wii version but fails
i'm not gonna pay $60 for a remaster of an old game. They are getting greedy
Switch version is the best, better graphics, framerate, and faster load times
Switch version has longer load times sadly
WRONG. Wii is best. Perfect 60,fastest load times - absolutely destroys the pathetic Switch versiom when emulated.

Ohh nooo really?! Maybe cause Switch have the strongest hardware among all of them.
@@overwatch761does it matter that much when ppl just might wanna play the game for gameplay or that they can on the go with better graphics? 😂
The background looks better on the wii version
Cutscenes also look better
Faz a comparação do DK HD com DK Tropical Freeze.
The Switch version is really deplorable, less colorful and less contrasted with a price of $60. Proof that the race for power means nothing at the time of the release of the Switch 2 which will certainly cost $399.99
The 3ds ver does not look that bad on the 3ds 😅
switch has frame drops which is pretty sad for a wii game 😅
So the first few seconds the switch version has house animations in reversed...because? And the 3ds version is baby kong throwing a three piece and falling asleep it seems😢
THE BEFORE IT WAS RELEASED 🙏☝️🇺🇸🇮🇹
I like nintendo 3ds

Wii is the best one
Nintendo Switch version
3ds is still the best option
Hey graphics gta iv
The Switch version kind of had its color removed, everything looks paler, starting with Donkey Kong has another color
lighting is definitely different. probably unity engine

Wii looks the best. The switch looks washed out or faded
No way this is worth $80!
its not 80 dollars

@HayItsGio it's actually not 60 or 80. It's 90 here in Canada, I said 80 to try and be reasonable to Americans.
@ ahhh, I paid $60 USD. Never considered you were from Canada. My bad😆
