Taehyung has been using sign language in his communication with Army for many times. The use of sign language is also suggested by him. Many Army who have hearing issues are so thankful to him & BTS for this.
This BTS era of releasing their passion projects and not care about following their previous formula is what I live for! We started with “Dynamite” where gave us a bop to cheer us up during lockdown, to “Permission to Dance” where they are telling us to hold on a little longer and keep staying together- we’re almost through this. 🥲

The "Da na na na na na" choreo part was so wholesome because it's made of sign language. This song just made my whole mood happy. It made me love them even more. "We don't need to worry, 'cause when we fall we know how to land" that line was just so comforting in so many ways.

I saw someone on twt saying "My cousin who is deaf watched the mv together with me and when he saw the sign language, he told me Oh they(BTS) told me to dance". My thoughts: for the past 18 months we have needed permission to do everything! From shopping to dining to going to church! We have needed permission to take off our masks! But we have never needed permission to dance! People are resilient and will always rise from the ashes…but why not do it dancing!

what makes this song more meaningful is that they literally use international sign language as official choreo in the chorus. the steps for the danananana part means "fun", the permission to dance part was danced with signing the word "(get up and)dance". my deaf friends appreciated this mv so much they teared up seeing it and even said they "felt included in the bts magic and hope".

OMG, today, my heart is full loving by Jimin’s vocal, dancing. Jimin’s vocal is so insane, so sweet, so pure, Jimin’s dancing is so amazing, his bodyline make you can’t take your eyes off, his body roll is so perfect. Thank you so much your reaction today. And I’m so happy if you can react Jimin’s vocal, dancing and live solo performances more.

I've fallen for each one of them at different times, sometmes all at once or the whole rap line versus the whole vocal line some days... but they're each such a source of inspiration, strength, humor, determination and loyal love for each other & that's what allowed them to persevere through all the struggles they faced until today. I didn't notice them at first until someone else mentioned them so I went back and looked. If you look at the rest of the video indoor scenes when V and others are in the camera and the others are dancing around in the background, JK is in full cowboy mode, hat and all, with stringers hanging off his coat. Apparently he didn't change footwear before shooting the solo "laundromat" scene. This kid can do anything and is so much fun. He and Jimin and V are the funny bone of BTS.
Someone really loves this scene because they created a video of just JK's spin. "EMO COWBOY JUNGKOOK TORNADO SPIN TWIST DANCE" A 7 minute loop of JK getting dizzy, ARMYs are crazy. BTS makes the world fun.

Ok, this is probably the first time in a long time ( since DNA) that the song song is not my musical preference. That being said, I have been streaming the song quite a bit to help with Hot 100 ( they deserve it!) and I always find myself smiling stupidly during the video . They are just enjoying themselves, being extra, and having fun and that makes me happy when I watch them. It’s definitely uplifting. And while this song is not one of my favs, my coworker (not an ARMY) really loves this song. I stream BTS at my desk while working and she gets excited everytime I play it lolol.

Notice how easy their dance steps now compared before? When they were starting, they were trying so hard and worked their a** off, because they wanted to be recognized and prove themselves. I'm sure all artists feel the same way at the start of their career. But now that they're soooo big worldwide, they don't try that hard anymore, but still gives good music. I remember when Suga said before in one of their interviews that they're so much relaxed now compared before, because they know that ARMYS are always there to support. No pressure at all. I love how big they have become now. I honestly miss their old music and old videos showing how good they are at dancing like ON, but they've done so much already to prove themselves, that made me feel ok seeing them doing easy dance steps now and not try hard anymore. They deserve everything that they are now and I'm soooo happy and proud of them!.. 💖💖💖 I LOVE BTS soooo much!.. 💖 I also love the 3 of u guys for loving BTS and for giving the sincerest reactions videos. Permission to dance is positive/good vibes but so meaningful.. BTS is good in every people,they add sign language in their Choreography for deaf,very inspiring..
The choreography included ASL signs for dance,fun and peace for deaf people. Also the video was inclusive of so many people who worked in the pandemic mailmen, janitors, teachers, office workers, couples, children and is just so hopeful and refreshing.

As a speech therapist, the deaf community and the rest of the Army (me also) it's proud of them for including ISL (international sign language) in the coreography.

In the cast of kids throughout the video, the boy in the black tee with longer hair is the son of their MV director, Lumpens. And at the end, it's all their staff and crew. Son Sung-deuk, their performance director, is in the orange-ish shirt at the back of the group. One of their security staff is the big guy in the back in the white tee. The guy in front with glasses, white shirt and torn jeans might be Lee Hyun, who is a Hybe singer and acted as their "manager" for a day. SSD and PDogg did the Butter reaction with him on his UA-cam channel. Army is still going through the crowd to try to identify some more people. It's so heartwarming to see them celebrating with their "family" at the end.
I loved the fact that RM, Suga and J-Hope are singing their parts and not rapping. Their voices are excellent.

I love how they incorporated references to their amazing fandom, ARMY, by using purple balloons (ARMY’s official color) and released the video on the date which which is considered ARMY’s official birthday. Also, all the dancers at the end are the crew, staff, lighting, make-up crew…basically everyone who worked on the video is dancing in the background. I love how much respect BTS gives ARMY and vice versa.
Not sure if someone explained that in the comments yet but they included sign language in their choreo at the end, the sign language for fun, dance and peace if I'm correct. I saw an Army commenting who said that her brother can't hear but watches these videos with her anyways and then he was so happy that they told him to dance and he started dancing how sweet is that. They really wanted to include everybody in this video.
In one of the teaser trailers when Suga is reading the newspaper, if you look at the upper right corner of the paper it states “ purple balloons signal the end of COVID 19”. Not sure if it has a different meaning but once again they’ve done such an amazing job!!

The hand gestures are sign language if you didn't know. And for someone who just recently lost their hearing due to unfortunate circumstances I can appreciate that. Also look how happy Yoongi is and moving his shoulders without pain anymore. That in its self is happiness. Loved it. I don't see why ppl are jumping ship now bc its not the same bts they staned in the beginning. People evolve and change and get older. They choose this route to take for wherever reason bc more I army no doubt is part of the reason. Idk I'm only a year and a half in and I'm loving it regardless. If ppl want to unstan let them. The lyrics sound simple but the whole song tells the world’s story from the first lockdowns in 2020 to the present: darkness to coping, coping to creating/being productive, creating to moving forward, moving forward to solutions, solutions to action, action to results, results to cautious hope, hope to light, light to joy. BTS has once more brought us to church without being preachy, nor missing out on anything and anyone. 💜
For other ARMY complaining about the song and BTS being westernized listen: This is only their 3rd full english? Whatcha on about fam?? We have 100+ in korean. Last year the BE album songs was in korean.. come on... Us ARMY are always proud that BTS is not just 1 genre.. we always say they are THE GENRE so they are constantly branching out and trying different sounds thats why we love them for not sticking to one sound. They're bringing more and more non fans to our BTS universe and they will be discovering the great complex hard hitting past songs, is'nt that a good thing? Im sure they will be going back to singing korean songs. This is a birthday gift to ARMY, its in english so all the different races of ARMY can sing fully to it.. plus incorporating sign language. I completely agree with you, but I also really enjoy their Korean songs! That being said, I think it’s great that they’re all learning English and incorporating that into their music. It just shows how flexible they are and how willing they are to try new styles!

The fact that they used sign language to include everyone no matter what color, race, religion, and even people with disabilities 😭 I swear I love BTS more and more. And then at the end they have their staff be part of the video and dance along 💜 I swear joining BTS Army was the best decision I made in my life

I'm excited to see your reaction. The teaser gave me old TV show theme vibes and then the whole song sounds like a musical and JK's dance reminded me of Kevin Bacon/Footloose, Patric Swayze/Dirty Dancing, and Michael Jackson/Smooth Criminal, rolled into one. And I recognized the sign language use right away coz I'm a speech therapist. This whole MV is such a happy & inspiring one, with so many layers of meaning especially their ode to the essential workers. 💜
Wow, I hadn't thought of that and haven't seen mention of it anywhere yet Essential workers - the post office,, the janitor, the food service, etc. Good read, Theresa. This is the most uplifting, positive and cool song and video of the year. All ethnicities, ages and professions. Sign language, cute kids (some of them BTS staff children) and that triple spin by JK. Yup, everything in one 5 minute shot. They did it again. BigHit has the most creative staff in the music industry. They really know how to make the boys shine.

Did ypu notice the international sign language incorporated in the choreo? It was sooooo endearing. Asking people to dance, be happy/joyful, and that peace sign. Plus on the last part, it was the whole crew and staff.
This song made me feel hopeful. In a world so screwed up and in crisis, BTS made me feel hopeful and comforted. Taehyung wrote "I left a purple balloon in your dream. Look it up" to a fan on Weverse who could not sleep. Now we see the purple balloons here. This is comfort.
