@@patrickleonardo9296 The Lyrics are good of course, but Elton John is a Musical genius for his music and not for the lyrics 😆many songwriters had better lyrics than Elton(Bernie)
ok this is INSANE. i just saw him two nights ago and can't stop thinking about it and then almost crying about it. he's just too much! he didn't play this, but this footage of it is just wonderful, and 32 years old! he sounded as he did then, two nights ago and that is just - outrageous! what a showman.
I think I rented this on VHS at least 20 times as a teenager. Made Mum get it most times, in amongst the actual movies. Now.....gotta love UA-cam for stuff like this. Agreed: just an outstanding concert, and so well recorded/mastered. Props to whomever was the sound engineer.
What an incredible performance, of one of the best songs recorded, by one of the best musicians of our time. Whimsical writing, with tongue in cheek lyrics, put to phenomenal music to make a great keep sake tune for the ages. A totally under-rated composition from the early 70's.... Thank you Elton, the inspiration of our time.
Even the beast performer he is, I'll be he was intimidated to perform with the Melbourne symphony orchestra but you can't tell, guys a total legend. I know his whole anthology and he was my first concert, hard to beat, thanks for giving me a deeper musical appreciation.
This is one of my favorites. Love this version even though Elton’s voice is shot. This right before he had the surgery on his vocal cords. He still did a great job!
I find this live performance of The King Must Die almost better than the original recording from the Elton John album. It feels more powerful with a full blown orchestra conducted by James Newton Howard that fits the nature of the song.
I'm crying my eyes out, I had the sudden urge to hear this after the news of the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Long Live The Queen! As they say after the death of the Monarch.
Crazy how the mso are hunched together in the corner w Elton taking all that empty space! Even kiss had th orchestra all lit up behind them. Now THAT'S A SHOW!
Wonder if he really meant to change the lyrics at 4:16 to keep singing the King must die in that chorus instead of the King is dead, as he did on the EJ album, or if it was a mistake.
I have the strong urge to be the first to downvote this video. The title is simply false and borderline clickbait. This is not HD. Can't be anyway since it was recorded with cameras that didn't have resolution for that.
The original footage may have not been HD, yes, but it has been upscaled to 720p, and also at 60 frames, which we can see gives a bit smoother of playback. Also, the audio you will notice is from the actual CD. You can hear at 0:13, the audio cuts from the original tape to the best audio source: the remastered CD
This concert was broadcast live across Australia. I still have vivid memories of watching it with my host family 36 years ago. 💖
Yes, I was 16 in 1986 when I saw this live on tv. If you watch the vhs or dvd of this concert, several songs fro here are missing, this is one of them
How could anyone not like Elton's songs. He's a musical GENIUS!!!
Don't forget Bernie Taulpin's lyrics

If the King must die...
...Elton's music must not !
I became obsessed with Elton John on a 16 hour drive earlier this year. Now Im on a passionate pursuit to learning covers on the piano
This is one of the best live versions of the King must die the orchestrate sound is so soothing and how is all blended in its a beautiful song.

His voice is huskier and deeper now, but it remains a beautiful tone. He still puts out a killer performance every night.
Best Live album of all time!
absolutely..agree 100%
When this album came out, it was the first time I had heard pop music played with an orchestra. It blew my mind then, and still does.
17-11-70 was better, in my opinion.

Its amazing. Top 5 for me. Alchemy Dire Straits, Sacred Fire Santana, Bob Seger Live Bullet up there
He is absolutely on fire here
Elton has SOUL.
I was there, most impressive concert ever, IMHO.
This song is in the top ten of of Elton's, again, IMHO.
Masterful piano, one of the Best Tenor voices in POP EVER, he could ROCK your A- off or make you tear up with a heart breaking Ballad!

Love this song. So many great songs they never play on the radio❤️
Fantastic piano playing as usual and his strong classy voice add up to maestro genious

So thankful I saw him live in 1997. Great performer!
Long Live The King! King Elton!
Elton n.1
Saw him at 16; my very first concert. A fan since then.
I was 16 too when I saw him at this concert in Sydney. Don’t think I appreciated how great this was at the time.
I saw him in Nashville, Tennessee! @@oldrunnerstepx2638
Probably my favorite EJ song, and that's really saying something.
Very very beautiful! It's Elton John!

magnificent live!! my favorite concert of sir Elton
My favorite Elton (album) soundtrack since it came out. I had it in cassette tape and the as a CD. Now it’s downloaded to the cloud

And now King Charles is unwell. 🙏🏻
And the fact that he has cancer makes this even more jarring.
@@rowdyreidgirlI was sorry to hear about that recently. Hopefully he recovers fully. ❤
Majestic performance
Elton Legend
Elton RULES. TY!
Great album for sure
Great song!!
LOVE IT!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Elton Wonderful Fantastic Song
Simplesmente incrível, ELTON É O NOSSO KING
thank you so much for this
Yes yes I agree, thank you!
Liberace was fun.. Elton produced and composed his own introspective music
Elton sei unico ❤️il migliore di tutti i tempi......😍
This was such a classic live album. Too bad Cold as Christmas wasn’t included
Crazy how the mso are hunched together in the corner w Elton taking all that empty space!
Even kiss had th orchestra all lit up behind them. Now THAT'S A SHOW!
I love this song! Can someone please make a how to piano lesson?!?!
Mikey Eden omg yes pls
You can get the sheet music for the piano in books/online. It's not that hard to work out anyway. A few suspended chords to watch out for.
Mikey Eden Ha! Loved him since I was 13! I am now 62..yup ya heard right😂😂 The man just gets better and better
Mikey Eden - you’d need the full arrangement. It’s just too good.

I had that cd
One of my very top ever
Bernie was right. Liberace never had this much soul.
But Elton loved Liberace. And NO ONE has a smile like Liberace! Its like the sunrise 🌄
@@annalisa14 i will never forgive you that you made me to search and click Liberace ^^
He has the cutest nose !
he does ! :)
SUBLIME!
Maravilhoso 👏👏👏👏

God save the king🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
What piano system is elton using here?
Steinway D, Helpinstil pickups, also midi'd to a Roland JX8P. Lots of EQ, compression and some chorus.
