Yeah, Dilemma is the first time BEP have done a non-STAYC song since late 2020 so it's quite special!
Noo since my my 2011 ,but with only rado ,rado has been a cube producer that's why he knows apink soo well and produced some major cube hits including my my , hush for apink ,and an eunji and namjoo collab with hyseung ex beast

From Shinsadong Tiger to Duble Sidekick to Black Eyed Piseung, Apink have great producers which leads to hit songs. Their last 4 (and Only one) have been produced by B.E.P., which is amazing because they are the only other group they produce for these days, since their hands are full with STAYC. Just goes to show what a legendary group they are!
Apink cemented their artisty, style and name on the kpop industry. No matter how many innocent/fairy concepts are there in kpop, Apink will always be the STANDARD. now that they’re on the mature side, the innocent/fairy feels and style is still there and that makes Apink a LEGEND.

honestly I watched their stage and it sounds better live, Namjoo also added more strenght to that part with her vocals and somehow it doesn't feel so out of place

I mean I’m a new fan but I found out last year they are all fairly young. They are between 28-28. The oldest is close to 30 but that’s not old at all. Some groups have groups members older than them. Did they start their career young.

naeun's rap part is actually my favorite part of the song since it puts a twist on the "rap portion in the second verse" trope in girl group songs by being more subtle and emotional. ever since apink came back from their hiatus with their new sound created by black eyed pielsung, we've been getting nothing but bops from them: i'm so sick, eung eung, dumhdurum, and now dilemma! it's amazing that they managed to carve a place for themselves among the other 4th gen groups.
"how do they have different genres but the same sound??" it's the vocals mostly!! they sing in the same range and with a very airy voice. the effect this has on their songs is that the instrumental pushes the song forwards instead of their voices. if we take kill this love by blackpink, lisa's "here i come kicking the door" is enunciated and paced in a way where it seems like the beat is responding to lisa. but in apink songs, their voices go on their own tempo/rhythm almost independent of the instrumental/above it all. they also put a lot of lower notes and have a strong bass line to contrast their high voices. they also have a question/answer in their choruses, in dilemma they say "dilemma dilemma, dilemma dilemma" as the question, then the instrumentals (specifically that jazzy synth) answers it by mimicking the rhythm the singers used. really interesting stuff.

The moment the heard the chorus, I immediately said "This is an APINK song" not because they're literally Apink but the SOUND makes it APINK!

- I feel like the instrumental reminds me of Eung Eung mashed up with Dumhdurum, like if you're a mashup maker you can make a Eung Eung x Dilemma mashup much easier.
- My favourite parts: Hayoung's prechorus (both the music and her visuals are so pretty!!!), the "Dilemma" part (Namjoo really killed it), and the last chorus part in the MV with Eunji and the flying teardrops, that particular scene is so impactful.
- I initially don't like the genre they chosen for the chorus. But after second listen.... that chorus *slaps???* The song became really catchy I love it.

the song is so new to apink and to everyone at first when u heard it, it feels like u are listening to 3 different songs every verse and part of it is built different its more like an experimental song but when u get used to it you will get addicted and never get tired of listening
Right. I felt that Namjoo's Dilemma hook was a little jarring on the first 3 listenings - but after the 10th I wouldn't change a thing.

The “dilemma dilemma” part just remind me so much of Lipstick by Orange Caramel, I can’t get it out of my head.
The song does change their flow so it’s not the normal ‘catchy’ kpop type, but like you said it fits with the dilemma theme. Apink delivers the song fantastically, I’m in love with Namjoo and Eunji sound, love the choreo, and their outfit in the showcase looks so good as well. I still like their previous title songs more, but this comeback is awesome.

I think Naeun's part fits with the lyrics just like the chorus. I think is represents the state that Naeun is going through. You see her putting on make up and looking pretty and tells herself that there's no other girls like her. But she suddenly thinks about him and breaks down.

the synth noise you're talkin about at like 10:00 is what really drew me into this song... it's reminiscent of something, maybe? like a 90s song (or maybe many 90s songs lol) although i'm not familiar with the DJ you mentioned.
whatever it is, it's SO DOPE it makes the song have so much more texture imo

Eunji is insanely talented. not only she's one of the best main vocals in kpop, she's also one of the best idol actresses. her acting in this MV was so good

I'm surprised while BEPilseung is already busy with Stayc, he still have time to do stuff especially with Apink. (Namjoo's Dilemma part is something I'm sure. Also, the Dance break tho )
So I found apink last year so this was their first comeback that I got to experience and I genuinely love the song. They did a good job. And one thing I have found about apink is they get better with more repeat listens to their songs. They are one of the few groups where I don't get tired of their songs. And I loved the visuals of the mv the part with eunji where she screams and the tear coming directly from her eye something about that gets me. Just good overall. I also like how apink is not an overhyped group which makes their fan group seem so much more friendly.

Dilemma is really interesting and difference from these days kpop songs but unfortunately kpop these days only focuse on quantity but not quality.. let's work harder pandas to give apink the win they deserve 🥺🙏

only thing is: i would’ve added a sentence or two after Namjoo’s “Dilemma, Dilemma” that way the chorus would be even more symmetrical less and awkward. fuller …and the vocal mixing was off in some parts (like Chorong’s parts); Naeun’s little trap breakdown was off too…
that aside, the instrumental and everything was hot!
And I’m sure they’ll have another hit when STAYC makes their comeback too!

yup that repeated "Dilemma" from Namjoo is not my style at first but I eventually just accepted it lol😂
I have expressed the same opinion about repeating the title in chorus on Reddit, just after the second teaser got released. Got downvoted for that but apparently there are more people who would agree.
The other issue I've addressed was the use of samples and I think that the sample being way too prevalent and dominant is actually the main reason that makes the trap part with Naeun a bit off-putting for many.
I would switch places of first and second part of the chorus, first Bomi and Eunji, then Namjoos dilemma comes in.

PD, i do know that they said the song has gone through two revisions since last year. So this is the second revision of Dilemma.
But I love how BEP made this such an unconventional song. I feel like the structure in itself tells a story beyond just their vocals. That’s what I love about experimental songs and their structures so much, they exude so much emotion. I do think you really have to have a taste for experimental music to really love this song at that level though

I feel like I liked it more, the more times that I listened to it maybe because after the first listen I was already accustomed to the 'jarring' changes in the beat etc. and could just vibe. The song also has a GREAT dance, hope it catches on to the public through TikTok!

One of their best songs for me. And the best 2022`s song so far. Bomi`s "Ahhh-ahhh" in the last chorus torns me apart as the whole chorus in general. Overall sound is gorgeous.

I think they are able to maintain the Apink sound because that's how they are personally too.. they never forget to look back from where they are from. They just really keeps on evolving as time goes by

I really thought that this song is very different from the usual. Starting from naeun's part, namjoo's part of dilemma (bcs in my mind, they usually go to eunji's part after hayoung's part). Tbh, i'm a panda for almost 10 years and it's weird to heard at first but after listening & listening again, okay it's addicted! I also felt that way about the "rap" part until I heard it on spotify, honestly the entire song is flawless and flows perfectly. Of their songs I still think %% is the catchiest and dumhdurum is their most perfect song, but Dilemma is the most suited song for me they've made. I absolutely LOVE sad bops and this is the greatest one I've ever heard since Chungha's Gotta Go and Sunmi's Noir.
The chorus remind me so much of european electropop song we had back then in 2010

I'm obsessed with this song tbh, it's really catchy!!! It has a early/mid 2000s sound, especially in the chorus, which I LOVE. Black Eyed Pilseung did a great job producing.
Also fun fact, I did some googling and found that this song actually samples a KSHMR song - you can hear the sample used in the song My Best Life, in a different key. Mamadol's Wooah HIP also uses the same sample at the beginning, again in a different key.
(I personally love when a song is sampled well, so this is not to cause any drama at all - both Dilemma and Wooah HIP absolutely bang in my opinion. I was just curious, and did some digging prompted by what you said and my own thoughts).
Anyway, loved the reaction as always, and big shouts to the girls, BEP and everyone involved with the song. Def adding to my playlist.

Funny that you mentioned KSHMR, they make a lot of loops and samples that get used A TON in so many different Kpop songs so I wouldn't be surprised if that part you mentioned is actually a KSHMR sample

This song is very much better in stage than mv. The mv somehow make it looks like divided into section because of the melody and beats. But when it's in stage somehow it feels seamless.
The B Side Nothing and Dream were two of my favorites- I didn't totally vibe with this song - it was Naeuns part and the effect that they had in the chorus that were off putting. Otherwise it could have easily been one of my favorite songs this year

I'm pretty sure the intro beat is sampled from KSHMR - 'My Best Life' feat Mike Waters. It's a very distinctive and was also used in Mamadol - Wooah Hip. KSHMR is a Indian-American DJ and his music contains a lot of Indian inspired instrumentals and beats!

as a fan of apink i was really looking forward to this comback and i like most of this song but the second verse really throws me off and means that i dont enjoy listening to the song as a whole. in my honest opinion this is the weakest of apink's last four comebacks in terms of title track but im glad to see them still releasing music as a group and i love the rest of the album.
I think it's a matter of taste.
I actually like the second verse. It adds some complexity to the production. It breaks the song in a good way. Is unexpected, and that's what makes this song fun to me. I think otherwise it would be bland and, not boring, but you know what I mean... Repetitive.
In terms of title tracks, the last 4 were fantastic... But I think Dilemma is a strong competitor. The dance break was unexpected too, at first listen I couldn't understand it, but later with more attention I find it captivating~
As more i listen to it, the song is really interesting. The prechorus and chorus really got me hooked! You should listen to it more. 😆

Even though I’m So Sick, Eung Eung, Dum Durum would always stay as my absolute favorites of Apink, I actually love how Apink is exploring with more complex song structures with Dilemma. Idk i guess from my viewpoint as a long term SM music fan, I find these switching ups not jarring at all, if anything they go hand in hand with the lyrics portraying a woman going back and forth struggling to decide whether to go or stay. Apink had a major switch up in their sound and image in I’m So Sick, and even at this point of their career, they’re still up to explore and reinvent their sounds, refuse to stay stagnant, to me this is extremely commendable
Hello PD. You talking about the middle eastern tune in this song is actually quite similar to Mamadol-Woah Hip. But the thing is I was so annoyed by the fact that I couldn't remember from which song was the tune similar when listening to Woah Hip but I listened to my gut that I knew this tune existed before Woah Hip and Dilemma and I was right. It is KSHMR's - My Best Life track. You're welcome. 😄

I found this song to be beautiful and elegant and emotional at the same time. I love listening to it. I had almost thought for a moment I was not going to love it but it’s actually very moving and it made me feel the story differently. The album it self was beautiful as well. I can not wait until I get the albums.
