Absolutely fascinating facts about something that most of us would probably be very embarrassed to ask. But you're able to talk about these things quite openly and I think it's wonderful that you can be so open-minded and honest! 🥰
Thanks for this video. You explain so well how your stump feels, and feels like when you touch it. When my arm was amputated over two years ago now, the surgeon did a very good job of wrapping some muscle tissue over the end of the two bones. I had cancer in my wrist and my right arm was amputated so I have about 2/3 of my forearm now. The end of my stump can bear some weight with no pain, and the scar is almost invisible. I don't try to hide my stump, I just let it hang by my side naturally. Like you pointed out in you great video, it doesn't hang straight down, but at an angle. I did have phantom pain in the beginning, but for the most part, it only appears on occasion, and not nearly as bad as it was in the beginning. My boyfriend loves to caress my stump when we are just sitting around on the couch, especially while we are watching TV. It does make my arm feel more relaxed, especially during those phantom pain occurrences. It seems strange that like you, I always have two hands in my dreams, but when I wake up, I only have one hand again.
I was just thinking about you Debbie, and was wondering how you have been.. So happy to hear it sounds like you have found a great guy! Crazy we are 2 handed dreamers😉-Cristie
Hello Christie! You are such a positive person and i love your vids. You provide a lot of information that we ”ablebodied” never could figure out... Like how an amputation feels like, problems and tips... I admire you... And that smile of yous could melt lead...😋
Hello Cristie, You shot a wonderful video again. It contains so many details that I have never been aware of before. Thank you for all the work and your wonderful smile. It is always very nice to watch your videos. Love you Wolfgang
I appreciate you taking the time to tell me that ! There is a lot of hard work that goes into these videos , and comments like yours make it so worth it!! -Cristie
Thanks for sharing your experiences with us. In my case, because my right arm is only about 6 or 7 inches long, it naturally hangs straight down, unless I move it to a different position by using my muscles. I do have some padding on over the bone, but since my arm is so short, I never put any pressure on the end of it. When I sleep, it just lays next to my body, again, my arm is very short compared to yours. I is funny that I have two very functional arms in my dreams. Even after 15 years, although my phantom pains are all but gone, I can still feel like I can move my fingers.
Yes, I had it in the beginning and it got better with time. Now, I have it occasionally, and am working on mirror therapy that was suggested. I also, pretend to rub the area that is hurting.. Great question.. Thank you for watching-Cristie
I lost my arm above my elbow 27 years ago, and I still have the sensation that my fingers on my amputated arm are being pinched every now and then. My arm is very short, maybe 6 inches or so, and it hangs down next to my body unless I move it. It is strange that I too have two hands in my dreams.
Well my friend you are very friendly, almost lista a finger, when i was a baby, because i put my finger un a fin of a motor truck AND almost lost, surgery, but recover the love of my finger AND i hace the scar
