A similar organisation called "Golden Key" or some cr@p like that used my university's letterhead and seal to send a letter to me inviting me to join their "honor society" due to my good grades (tbh I was on the Dean's List so I didn't think this wasn't strange at first) then I found out it was just a glorified phone list of other people who graduated with above-than-averge results, put together by some shady university official. To "join the membership" I'd need to pay an annual subscription fee. Needless to say I didn't join. I should have reported that scam, but I lost the letter.
Report them to the nearest related authorities. You can't receive pieces of marketing without having the freedom to opt out. It's a shady business practice and something that can land the company in hot water

Bathrooms are free anywhere that serves made to order food in Canada. I recently was at a bar in Halifax, the bathrooms had a bouncer and a 5$ fee. They served multiple forms of snacks. Unfortunately for them, they also built nachos on the table for you. That made the bathroom free to customers. It wasn't worth the fight until my drunk GF peed herself because we didn't have cash and she didn't wanna bother me to leave. That fucking bar owner stopped serving ALL food after I got into an argument with him and reported the site. He closed up that same summer. She swore and stormed off. If it was a real emergency she would have accepted my call, never give anyone your phone
We were scammed by a timeshare company. If you attended an hour-long session on timeshares, you would get a small black and white tv. We sat through the session but did not sign up to purchase the timeshare. We left with the cute little tv. There was no cord with the tv, and you could not buy a cord for the tv. So you had a little tv that you could never watch. The cord only accompanied the tv if you bought a timeshare. The scam was set up in a major tourism area.
I got a call at work the other day and it was some woman with an Indian accent saying "Hello sir, I am from Amazon Customer Support" and I turned to my coworker laughing "It's a scam call" put my phone back to my mouth with a sarcastic tone "Hello Amazon Customer Support, how are you today?" She just said "I"m fucking great" and I laughed saying "Fuck outta here" and hung up on her
I got the rental car on the border under my name, I put it on speaker so the office could hear..it got to the line were they said 5 kilos of coke was found. I said what??? Did you guys pinch a couple kilos I had 7.... she said f you and hung up
The new homeowner thing reminded me of how I would constantly get mailers for mortgages insurance. I don't know if it's legitimately a "scam," but definitely a rip off since putting the money that subscription would cost towards your mortgage would pay off a considerable amount of principle and cut your pay off time by years. I also would get calls about my car's extended warranty, either for my company lease (which I'm not responsible for) or my 7 year old used car who's warranty is long over.

She was selling her Wii for $100 when she got a check in the mail from this guy for $500 with the instructions to cash it, take out her money and send the rest along with the Wii to him. My sister is completely naive and her mouth absolutely salivates at the mention of money. Luckily me and her mom were there and told her to have the bank check it out. My sister is on disability and if that check had been cashed, they'd have deducted it from her account when finding out it was a bad check and that money would have came directly out of her direct deposited check. I'm thinking the reason it was for $500 is that's the maximum amount a personal check can be written for without the bank putting a mandatory hold on it until it clears. The check was real but it was from a stolen checkbook. Dunno if they ever caught the guy.
People will come up to you in a parking lot and give you a sob story about being from some faraway city and having lost their wallet and need money to get home. They will offer gold jewelry eg. a ring or necklace for way less than the cost of the “ gold” it is copper.

The seminar was a company trying to sell time shares, so I noped out of that. Never did end up getting the free lunch!

Initially I thought it was legit (foolish me) since I could get a neat asset for a VRchat world I want to make, then when I was told the overall price and how much I'd have to spend initially, I tried to bargain but at some point I smelled fish when they told me about bill they have to pay when I kept repeating that I'm also too broke and the final nail in the coffin was something about the "Deal being locked in", like bitch we didn't make any kind of agreement yet, nothing was locked in. After that I blocked them and the person who referred me to them as well.
