Great info. Here is a tip I have not seen anywhere that I use... I have a 70" TV screen in my living room. I bought a flexible tripod holder for my cell phone/iPhone and set it to mirroring and put it behind me and above as I sit on my coffee table facing the TV. This gives me a clear image of my whole head from above and behind that is larger then life. And as an aside... I live alone and use this to check out any type of skin issues in areas I simply can't see as a screening method for spots that could develop into skin cancer. Also a great way to see the back of your head when you are finished and better than a handheld mirror and twisting yourself into a pretzel. AND... if it is a new system, you can focus right up close on the sides if you need to do any blending in with your bio-hair.
I just can't do it with a mirror behind my head, looking through the mirror in front, it's like i'm trying to control an arm that's not mine (for shaving and applying glue). Getting this 3 way mirror thing, which I hope means I can more easily sort the back out! Had to get someone else to sort me out at the back on my first self assembly!
As your hair gets that brassy ginger tone you need to use a purple or blue based toner shampoo and or conditioner. The blue/purple deposits on hair and tones the hair back to its original shade of brown or blond. Careful using it though. Because if you leave it in to long it will turn ur system color blueish. Try for 30 seconds to a minute at most cause you can always go back n try again.
The BEST styling product hands down Is Groom & Clean. It’s all water based so it doesn’t hurt the hair, it keeps it soft almost wet but is also moldable. It also cleans other left over product that can cling to your hair even after washing out! Hence the name. I highly recommend everyone try it and it’s dirt cheap.
The place they did those crap in house hair weave systems were always saying yeah keep it washed . keep it washed . What a total con job outfit they were . They knew about the fade issue of course. ! Tk god I walked into Marks place after a few Months who used to be a World Champ Hair dresser contestant . He smiled and said do not worry we will have it off and get you something better for about £100 which was a massive relief as a get out of trouble thing . Stung but worldly wiser after a bad start. :).
I worked in a salon. You could try co washing and an UV protector in your leave in. Our hair rarely ever needs shampoo as it’s meant for cleaning the scalp rather then the length of the hair that tends to just need the smelly oils your scalp produces but we wash out religiously. As well as look into a color depositing conditioner to freshen up the color if it does fade. Try keep conditioner and oils away from the base and knots tho they’ll loosen if you get them slippery and even bio haired people need to keep conditioner away from the scalp. Boots is basically your best friend haha
@@HairSystemDIY depends on the lace? is it made out of synthetic or natural fiber? Depending on the material of the lace it could just wash right off as it’s not actual hair dye and only sticks to porous things like Natural hair or natural fibers. So if it’s cotton id stay away from it. If it’s polyester it’s fine. But like any conditioner I’d keep it away from your scalp or the knots as much as you can anyway as it makes your scalp oily and the knots looser maybe. They should have less sun damage near the knot anyway. If you’re not sure Maybe save clippings from when you get it fitted to test it on safely just to be sure? You could also ask the store. They might even have a special color product for hair systems somewhere. I hope my rambling at least helps you even if a little 😂
@@InkMink thanks. I’m talking standard French lace. Not really sure what the exact material is, but I suppose if it was massaged just into the hair rather than any lace, it should be ok. What brand do you use? Looking for a light brown colour
@@HairSystemDIY that’s where things get vague. There’s multiple materials you can make lace from. French lace is just a name for a type of lace. It could be Cotton or silk or viscose or rayon. So if you can’t test on a scrap stay away from it as much as possible by using a brush to part and apply it just to the hair. The brand shouldn’t really matter as long as you pick a professional one vs a consumer product as those are watered down and have chems you don’t need. In therms of color through a screen it’s impossible to tell which is when we’d ask a client to come in. But try to find your base color level I suspect you’re a 7 or could be an 8 or just a 6 in bright lighting (the higher the number the closer to platinum blonde the lower the closer to black 1-12) and your character color I think from seeing the video is a warm gold so that’s a 3? But that could be the fading you talked about. So Could be a 2 or 1 too for your bio hair which is cold and ashy (Characters 1-8 every number is a different shine warm or cold) The result could be a 7.3. Or 8.3 or 6.3 or any of those .2 or .1 try googling them to see the color. If it’s no match at all maybe ask someone that knows their way around dye in person. If this number stuff confuses you I suggest you google some color theory it’s really useful for maintaining the color of your piece and matching it to your bio hair color. it’s sadly impossible for me to tell what color it is I’m seeing exactly given cameras and lighting and filters can impact it a lot. Hope I at least helped a bit. 😊
Bro i just ordered my first one online!The idea of having to perfectly connect the system and not leavve a gap between bio hair and the razor bald part / have it overlapping w/ the bio hair scares the shit out of me. I guess I just gotta make the most flawless template right?
Tbh pal quite often mine isn’t flawless! Sometimes it doesn’t cover every bit of baldness but the hair itself is long enough to cover it up. I wouldn’t worry too much

I've thought about getting a system for a while now but the amount of work needed and having to clean off glue or getting tape off the system struggles and having to refit it yourself every with glue or tap every 10 days or so seems a lot of sress for me and then seeing a stylish for a trim 3-4 weeks and at first i would prefer to see a hair system stylist as i would be embarrased to see a normal one and then around every 3 months I would need a new system, also I see when you order online they come in really dense so it would need a few washes before its put on, with all this and that I have ADHD and don't like too many tasks this sounded like a great idea intially but the amount of stuff you need to know or going for a refit and trim every 3-4 wks for £65/£70 makes me think its too much to deal with which is sad

I can only speak for myself as I don’t workout. If you shampoo 3 times a week do just make sure to use a colour depositing shampoo once every few weeks to stop the colour stripping. Also be mindful it’ll dry out your system way quicker

I do pal. In the summer and after 6 months use it doesn’t make much difference. At this point dying is the best option

Hi Adam, is it safe to use a paraben and sulphate free leave in conditioner on my hair system on a daily basis?
I'd personally only apply once every 2 weeks, although once a week should be fine. Drawback is it may dry the hair out quicker
