  • "Out with a Bang" was commissioned by Frontiers Festival as part of their 2016 run. A massive thanks to Arts Council England for funding the project and Birmingham Conservatoire for hosting the event.
Birmingham Central Library was the main public library in Birmingham, from 1974 until 2013 and also held the title of largest non-national library in Europe for a while. It closed in June 2013 and was replaced with the Library of Birmingham. The existing building is currently being demolished after 41 years, as part of the redevelopment of Paradise Circus. Designed by architect, John Madin in the brutalist style, the library was part of an ambitious development project by Birmingham City Council to create a civic centre on its new Inner Ring Road system; however due to economic reasons significant parts of the masterplan were not completed and quality was reduced on materials as an economic measure.
This video celebrates the existence of the library and the good times that I had in the forum in wetherspoons which became the unofficial Birmingham Conservatoire watering hole.
The video is set to my arrangement of the 1812 overture which is in the style of Wendy Carlos. Famous for her contribution to the musical score of Stanley Kubrick's "A Clockwork Orange"
A massive thanks to Rosie Clements, Arts Council England and Birmingham Conservatoire for hosting and funding this project.
