Been thinking a lot about my 2003 Marauder lately. Can't believe how expensive a nice one is now. Mine drove itself to the dealership I worked at, traded itself in and brought me the keys in exchange for the trade in value at the time of $2500. That was only 5 years ago. Rust free, 120k miles. Kept in climate controlled storage then and now.
I don't mean this in any disrespect to you Mr Random but I have known several who have had marauders and p71 car's and got the same results by simply putting a drop in K-N filter in without doing the Hack job and destroying the originality of their cars. I also wish you would do a video about the proper way to clean these filters you'd be surprised how many don't know. Thank you for another cool video.
Drop in k&n filters do absolutely nothing. If you don't get a cel for lean on bank 1 and 2. That means the air flow didn't increase at all. A true cai will throw a cel and require a tune to increase the fuel ratio. Drop in k&n air filters don't increase the air flow cfm. So they are pointless and basically just throwing $50 down the drain.
If you are going to do it, do it properly. Get a cai and dyno tuning to adjust air/fuel ratio. Then you will notice not hp because there will be more air and fuel causing a bigger boom. 🤣🤣🤣
Mr. Random, I think you are the man for the job. I have an idea. Motorcycle riders, jeep owners have their own hand signal as they pass each other on the road. It's their own thing. As I pass other Panther platform drivers, I often wish we had our own hand signal that we give each other in passing. I think you are the man to spread this and get it started. I feel that Panther Platforms are worthy of this and it's time. What do you and others in the comment section think?
I don't think it's placebo man, I put one in my vet last year and forgot about it. Anyways I pulled it out a month later to drive and it had more pickup and I didn't know why until I realized that I had put one in
Saw a marauder at the yard today. That hose is big. I got a the knn you got for my 01 marquis but the hose looks way tiny to tge marauder You sure about this?
No that's not a myth. Its just some cold air intakes don't increase the air flow higher than the stock one. Which means you basically just paid for nothing. If you don't get a check engine light after installing a cai. Then you need to return that cai immediately because it was a waste of money. If you get a proper cai it will always need a tune. Because more air will cause the car to run lean. You must adjust the fuel ratio for the increase in air. I learned this the hard way after buying 3 different cai kits. None of them throw a check engine light. Finally a bought this little cheap kit off of ebay and it has a 3 inch diameter tubing and that was enough to increase the air. I had to get marty ochs to do a custom tune over the phone. He had me on a live session and they had to increase the fuel ratio quite a bit. This is with the little cheap one off of ebay. Costed like $50 the other name brand ones were several hundred dollars and didn't even need a tune. Proving that they didn't increase the air flow at all.
It truly depends on the cars ecu and the type of system it is..you don’t always need a tune with a cold air intake as MOST cars have a self learning ecu that will adjust the fuel maps accordingly in a few miles before a cel pops up..if you get a cel go back over it and make sure everything was done properly..cels are never a good thing and rarely have anything to do with a lean situation and as such will not always go away with a “tune”..you don’t always need a tune for something as minor as a cai
Hey bro I'm just curious are you just going to be posting panther videos? Only panther cars? Or are you going to still review other cars that arent Panthers? Don't get me wrong I still love your videos I'm just curious
Better off leaving the stock intake on there. If I recall correctly the marauders have an exclusive airbox that’s larger than regular panthers so you don’t have any restriction problems. The stock airbox actually sucks air in from underneath the headlight through a snorkel so you’re basically funneling in outside air. The K&N one doesn’t have a snorkel and is sucking in hot air from the engine bay since it doesn’t have a cover on the top either. Any HP gain you experience is probably from the less restrictive cone filter that it comes with.
the closed hood provides the "cover" / seal between the heat shield and the rest of the engine if it didnt work....then dozens and dozens of marauders with PROPER built engines wouldnt have them.
Mr Random Reviews How many “properly built” marauders there actually are out there??..I guarantee not ONE of the marauder engines with a k&n intake were ever actually opened up for even a stock rebuild 😂🤣
@@MrRandomReviews “built” marauders aren’t running the MACH 1 engine that they came with, majority of them are probably cobra swapped. Just because they have a $100 K&N doesn’t mean they’re getting anything out of them other than appearance. If the “built” ones were actually having an airflow issue they would’ve rectified it correctly and sent the intake through the fender like the cobras did. It’s not a “cold air intake” either. If anything, it’s a hot air intake. Only now, instead of having the filter in a closed off environment from the rest of the engine, you have the hot hood covering it. Don’t worry bro, maybe your gold duct tape will help you cool it off 😂
@@nickys1008 cobra engine is the same as the mach 1 and marauders it's a dohc 4 valve. And your "hot air intake" theory is completely wrong. I run a tuner on my marauder and monitor air intake temps and the stock box heat soaks worse then k&n. The k&n is hands down better
@@UnsafeDuck the only similarity between a terminator cobra engine and a MACH 1 engine is the cylinder heads. The block, pistons, crank, rods, etc. are all different. Do some research before you speak
It’s a placebo. There are proven videos dyno tested before and after with no improvement. You do get a different sound out of it but that is it. They even tuned it for the CAI and no difference in numbers. They have videos with Chargers, Focus STs and other cars with it tested.
If you have to tune it and increase the fuel ratio for the increase in air. You certainly are getting more hp gains. More air/fuel means mo powah baby. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I dyno’d my Marauder before and after I installed my CAI. My numbers definitely went up a little bit. Try doing real world research and get off YT. 🤷🏽♂️
Actually, you're wrong - in this instance. The remover of that silencer alone is basically a guaranteed 5 rwhp. Find a Foxbody that still has one, because you can't. Multiple old dynos proved that was best budget mod for them and it was completely free. (Yes, this was on mass air cars 89-93)

You should consider getting another one before it’s too late!
I put the k&n cold air intake system on my 2001 P71 and didn't get an engine light, it actually fixed a code I got from cutting my mufflers out.
Sounds like my old carbureted cars when I would turn the air filter covers upside down! Just listening to that air sucking in!
Love your videos! Please keep em coming!
