Finally! A craftsman that engages with the audience, settles on the salient points, admits minor mistakes and moves through the steps at a speed which allows newcomers to the craft a doable entry point. Well done! I look forward to more!
The jig is simple but I was trying to figure out how you'd control and rotate the piece the same amount with every pass and couldn't come up with anything. Your solution is brilliant.
What great skill. It's excellent to see someone making something just for the interest of wether or not it can be done and from a viewers perspective being able to appreciate the process. No politics, no shouting, no anger just creating. Perfect.
Years ago I worked in a shop building opera scenery. One day the guys were trying to figure out how to make some really large cove moulding for a set, so I went over to the table saw set up and made the cove for them, none of them even knew you could do that. Man how I wish I could have done this trick instead because then they would have thought I was a certified genius. Nice job Izzy!

This is why I subscribed to this channel in the first place: to watch you do impossible (insane?) things with this table saw. Mostly I wanted to see how you got the twist in there for this one. I was not disappointed!
Great ingenuity, and a nice outcome. I agree with your comments about cleanup of the mess when doing cove cuts on a table saw. It's like using a lathe as far as cleanup is concerned. The mess travels far and wide. Thanks for sharing!
Dude, You Knocked this one Right outta the Park! Outstanding No Joke, People used to spend Thousands for The Legacy Oriental Router Lathes and You just pulled this one off on a Table Saw !?!?! First there was that Bowl Jig, Then The Table leg jig. But this Spiraling? KaBoom, Izzy Kills it again! Fantastic Dude absolutely Fantastic! Thanks Bro
Well, that is a new way of twisting something! You always have some twist or another to your work. Totally awesome! As others have already said...you have a pretty neat brain for this stuff. She's a thing of beauty.
Thank you for this video, I've just started my venture into table saw moldings until I can afford a nice router and all the bits. Your project here has confirmed practically any profile can be obtained by some math, planning and a touch of luck
Hey Izzy, the stuff you come up with is nothing short of genius. No kidding! Big fan of yours. You keep making them & I'll definitely keep watching them.. thanks for sharing bud 😆
Clever. Very clever. It's simple enough to do, but looks complex enough to be a fine table leg or cabinet support. Also, excellent tutorial. I liked the information you gave, describing all the parts, how they work, and the process itself.
Cool jig. The result is pretty cool. It's not a shape you'll need very often. But when you do, it's nice to know a way to make it without a 4 axis CNC. Also, your voice has been really low volume in a couple recent videos (including this one).
I liked the video, I don't think there is a video that Izzy made that I don't like, It's just that I don't 'like' video's that start with 'impossible' just to get more views, sorry about that.
That’s a really cool idea. I think that would make for an awesome lamp if you were able to drill through it for the wiring and then make a base for it.
Really neat idea. And delivery . if you put the top fence( the one that guides the rotation) with the proud side at the far end your jig it would turn itself as you push it through . I guess you could also set the top guide to be whatever profile you liked as long as it was smooth. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for sharing the lovely technique Mr Izzy Swan...I hope to someday use it...I'm a retired guy but am also a do it yourself fan...you've made it simple and easy to look...
from screen viewing the finished piece seems that the spirals cove dimensions doesn't have the same wide each other, perhaps for turning freehand at different random, that's only my personal appreciation. Congratulations Izzi, very useful idea/jig and, welcome your comments.
another impossible /made possible by the wood wizard oor izzy the guy blows my mind still years on and still pumps out ideas ,used in a project!!! izzy bud i would love to see what you do with it in project bro , and if god had you on team he wouldve maybe made scotland a seperate island pmsl
Only one word can describe that. Freaking GENIUS. Well technically that is two words, but if I was given a century, I would never have thought of that. And the beauty of it is... It is so simple. I am in awe.
That's very cool. Your scheme would allow you to vary the steepness of the spiral by varying the curve of your top guide board. There are lots of things to try -- the only thing probably not worth the bother would be a curve to allow a constant pitch spiral.
Every time I get to thinking I am a woodworker, I see something like this and realize I am just making sawdust and wasting wood. Very nice. And thanks for the lesson.
Izzy, on the piece on the end that you use with a screwdriver to turn the stock. If you drill six or eight or ten or twelve holes around the out side edge, then use those holes to insert a dowel or other object, to follow the tapered guide, then you could make as many spirals as desired.
You really should get dust collection. It's not about the mess, it's about the air borne particles that will give you cancer. The mess management is just a benefit. Made A HUGE difference for me. Not only did my garage not have a permanent dust coating, I wasn't coughing dust up or blowing wood paste boogers out of my nose the next few days.
If you show someone the completed spindle and then hand them a 4x4 going: "now turn this into 4 identical copies of that" the word "impossible" is most likely part of the reply you will get. So in my opinion the title is not as click-baity as it might seem. Combining the forward movement and rotation over the saw to get that specific cut and turning that into a jig for reproducible results is quite a skill. Thanks for sharing.
Very cool, very instructive, well done in every way. I had no idea you could do this with a table saw. Brilliant. Thanks for taking the trouble to vid, edit, and post. Top marks!

Perfect.
You know he’s a master carpenter when he says this is pretty simple to set up, when virtually non of us could do this. You’re awesome.
True
I'm impressed, very innovative. Started me thinking of turning a pair of wooden rotors for a Roots Blower for a forge.
Marvellous.
Genial colega 👍

Amazing. The simplicity of this idea is just flabbergasting

I know right! I was wracking my brain trying to figure it out. I had the concept but his implementation is simple and genius.
I totally agree.
Just tried this for the first time. Wasn’t nearly as good as yours but, I learned a lot and I’m going to start again. Thank you.

Thanks Bro
Understanding Geometry and motion in multiple dimensions. You are genious.
Izzy, the board you run the screwdriver along is called a sine bar. The same process is one of the ways gun barrels are rifled.
Could a shaped “sine bar” be used to reverse the twist ?
Horse Crow Yes, and that's a great idea.
@@horsecrow6258 Great question! Now I really can't wait to try this.
@@throngcleaver hi
Really cool. With a few tweaks and a little more control, this technique could make for some very interesting furniture legs.
Hi izzy. I don't post much but I do want to say is sure is nice to have you back, in form, and posting cool videos again. Thank You :)
than k you it so nice to be back to focusing on content
Before there was CNC, there was sheer ingenuity! Brilliant stuff as always, Izzy.
This is a great technique. Would be awesome to use for stool legs and maybe skip every other groove

Exactly what I was thinking.....would look awesome in a mancave!
3D printer
It's a giant churro! Love it!
Fantastic Izzy !!! Great talent and imagination . Looking forward to see more of your work and ideas . Thanks !!!!!!
Izzy, you are a great teacher. I love the way you dissect a problem and figure out a way to get the job done.
It looks like a great start to a lamp build. Nice work Izzy.
Well, that is a new way of twisting something! You always have some twist or another to your work. Totally awesome! As others have already said...you have a pretty neat brain for this stuff. She's a thing of beauty.
Hey Izzy that would be a great set of coffee table legs...just think what they would talk about when seeing the coffee table with those legs...
River table would work
That was interesting. What people come up with on a table saw. Fascinating. Not sure how safe but it did look all stable.
Thank you for this video, I've just started my venture into table saw moldings until I can afford a nice router and all the bits. Your project here has confirmed practically any profile can be obtained by some math, planning and a touch of luck
What a great way to make wooden churros.
