Your videos have transformed the way I paint - thank you. I’ve been using the scheme from your Von Ryan’s Leapers video to work my way through the Tyranid combat patrol, and the miniatures look 100% better than they would have done if I’d gone with the (brightly coloured) test models I’d played with. Grimdark all the way now, and yours is about the most accessible and helpful grimdark channel I’ve seen yet. 🙌
You are so welcome! Honestly comments like this mean so much! My goal has always been to teach the grimdark aproach with using too many crazy methods that require hazmat suits and special paints from the Amazon rain forest 😂🙈🙈 So glad they help you! And again thanks for coming along ☺️☺️
Love your paint schemes and videos. They are excellent. That said the close ups are horrible. Feel like I'm looking at the model through a beer bottle from a hole in my neighbors fence.
I have just taken up Tyranids and using similar technique as you, experimenting with the AK rust streak but not coming out as yours do, is there something missing? im panting it on the armour and claws, allowing to dry (not sure if ths is correct?) rubbing off with cotton bud but it just leaves a brownie tint? Love your videos! technique and colours are spot on!
Nice work. For a moment i was really happy as I've seen the pale one has black eyes. I'm looking for tips how can i paint glossy black eyes, imo this like a bottomles yawning well give back more the endless hunger of the tyranids, rather than the glowing bright eyes.
I love your videos. I started painting tyranids a couple days ago with your Grim Dark Scheme and I’m really happy with the outcome. Your techniques have been a great help for me. But may I ask how you managed to get the eye of the weapon in that shiny red? Couldn’t manage to recreate it. Keep on the great work. Greetings from Germany!
These really do look incredible, especially some of the alternate versions at the end. Can I ask how you painted that streaky metallic effect on the model at @6:54? Maybe the best looking metal I've ever seen.
These look excellent! I do wonder if you'd lose them on a tabletop though lol. I've had to paint my black templar power weapons really bright so I know who's who and where they are.
@@TheFeralPainter you never played??!! That's crazy. Seeing your little dudes out on a big old table is pretty cool. If you're near Birmingham and you ever fancy a go hook us up...
Hey! Thanks for your advices and tutorials. They are very helpful starting my news nids. Just only one question, What purples would you recomend for a leviathan caparace for this grimdark style? Thanks in advance! Greetings from Spain!
I think if I get any tyranids I will make them all different. Possibly look at some beetles to reproduce, like the green June beetle, or a scarlet lily beetle. Then grunge it out. I need Streak & grime 😅
I am a little surprised you didn't airbrush fade some color at least on the end of the tail and joints to align with the prior Neurotyrant colors. Though I'm not sure if a red or green fade would be a better option with the skin vents being red washed. While this little guy is fast (apart from dry time of oils) What else could be done to better match the prior large bugs with their flesh variances?
Hay man! Thanks for your comment. Yes I can say there will be a more in depth tutorial coming soon that includes airbrush work and a lot more detail. I try create videos for all, as some complain they don’t have airbrush and want a quick fast way to do things. But I can say I have a few more tyranid videos coming with more in-depth techniques etc. Again massive thanks for your support! Hope your well! ✌🏼👌🏻👌🏻
@@TheFeralPainter Thanks for the videos you create. I did not mean to come off as negative and I understand what you mean about offering guide specifically for non-airbrush work. I've been using your other grim-bugs as a guide, but struggling with Gaunts and Genestealers trying to match the same tone/look of the bigger lads. And I fully understand what you mean about finding quick ways, as I have 200 gaunts, 120 gargs and 60 Genestealers I've been trying to find a process that is both bio-space horror and fast to do XD I look forward to more of your videos. Thanks for the hard work.
It’s cool I know what u ment. But yea I understand what you mean. Hopefully my next project will help you. If u ever want to reach out on my instagram I’d be more than happy to chat and help you with any ideas or help you might need ☺️
I do something wrong. After applying Winter streaking Grime I cant remove it from miniature. I do it lightly but all model is soooo dark. If I start cleaning it harder all paint is gone, including primer :( Could you please explain how you apply and "clean" it in details ? Thanks !
Make sure your paint (acrylics) are dry. You could even apply a varnish to protect the layers before streak and grime. Use mineral spirts or white spirts to thin the streak and grime before applying. Let dry before removal. Be gentle and use a brush if swobs are too Aggressive.

Hay man! Sounds like your doing right. With mineral spirits?

Can you clarify the steps for the darker skin? Is it primed black, then ash, then smoke dry brush? Are the drush brush colors mixed?
Awesome tutorial! Love it! Which was the first wash you used for the flesh?

Yea simply paint black. A dot of white in corner, then gloss varnish. That would work
