- As part of the Monty's Men adventure I've teamed up with Jake from the Jake Brown Collection. / @jakebrowncollection1772
This series of videos will follow us through our preparations for next year's Monty's Men Trip which is considered the top in WW2 reenacting. We'll be covering preparations and getting our kit up to the exceptionally high standards required
Monty’s Men is a collective of individual living historians who are usually members of other groups. The group, albeit without a name, existed in 2002 but the first Monty’s Men ‘branded’ trip was in 2003 as a platoon of the 9th Battalion, Durham Light Infantry.
The ethos behind the Monty’s Men group is a fully immersive living history experience and, wherever possible, not compromising on accuracy. As such, the men were fed from compo rations to the same menus as the 1944 British infantrymen and there were little modern conveniences other than where modern safety standards required it. (Richard Fisher)
My compliments gents - I'm just starting out on WW2 British myself and this has been enormously helpful in orientating myself.
Micheál Ó hAodha Thanks Michael, I’m glad we could help...
@@kevinofishero how much of this is possibly interchangeable with an Indian impression. I’d like to do an Indian one, and then get the other things for the British.
I'll see you guys there :) can't wait!
One of the best vids you have done 👍
Thank you very much :-)
Nice uniform 👌🏻
Thanks :-)
Absolutely brilliant video mate 👏
jake brown collection you’re making me blush ☺️
Well done Kev and Jake!
britishmuzzleloaders thank you Sir 😎
Thank-you very much kind sir
@@kevinofishero Having a good time following along with your journey!
britishmuzzleloaders and it’s bloody good fun doing it... great opportunity to learn and improve. Oh, and empty the bank account.... damn you eBay.... damn you online auctions 😅
I'm glad you're enjoying it rob 👍
Look forward to hearing what you think of the event. I'm a lot like you, avid long time reenactor and want to take it to the next level. I got onto the page for Monty's men but may have to wait until 23 to get involved (stupid covid delaying everything including my wedding) I didn't know they had item by item kit requirements like no sof shirts. I'll have to do my reading. Coming from the US, don't want to poorly represent lol
Hi ! Great video. Maybe do you know if Commandos carried bayonets AND Fairbairn Sykes knife or just FS knife ?
What size anklets/gaiters do you have on?? I have a pair but they are too small and the size print has worn off and I can’t remember what I got
Понятно, спасибо
Where do you buy this milliteria?
what about the great coat?
Great. How do i attach the shovel to the back?
Hi there.. The shovel just slides down the between the back and small pack. It can’t fall out..
can u give a link to where i can buy a WW2 british uniform
Is Monty's Men invite only or can anyone book on to attend?
Hi mate are you in a reenactment group .And how are your s.o.f ammo boots doing 🤔
We've got a video on the boots buddy and Kevin is a member of the Suffolks Reenactment group.
What helmets did they wear as i have seen different types from different pictures?
Like he said in the video, you'd see mk2s (as seen in the video) and mk3s which were used by some units from around mid-1944
@@carzy6073 thank you, I've found out from research after I commented That over time and have purchased myself a turtle helmet for my impression
@@FlaknBail ah thats good to hear- ive got one as well for my Cold War impression
How do you wash your tunic? Any specific care I should have?
just chuck it in the washing machine on a low heat and low spin, then hang it out to dry
Any idea where you can get decent reproduction German WW2 uniform?
Jake also does German and told me he got his from Epic Militaria
Thank you
