Happy Monday guys! Hope you all had a fantastic weekend! We're kicking off the week with finally posting the full review on the revised 2024 GLE 450! We hope to get our hands on the refreshed BMW X5 later this year as well! Lots of great videos to be posted this week so stay tuned! :D
I've test driven the GLE 450e, GV80, x5 idrive50e, Volvo XC90 recharge, and RX450h+. Mercedes offers the $7,500 lease credit and dealer contribution to cover 1st payment. Most models I've found are ~$81k so the capitalized cost is around $74k. That makes it equal to the GV80 (which doesn't come in a plugin) and $6k more than the BMW I built, $6k more than the RX450 and $4k more than Volvo (less l!7,500 lease credit).BMW doesn't offer the lease credit. I would like to see more discussion in the reviews around warranty, reliability, and cost of ownership. 0-60 is not a buying criteria and I would never notice the difference between 5.7 and 6.5 seconds. When driving colleagues and kids, I'm not racing a mid-size luxury SUV. The GLE interior was my favorite, and the 2nd row space sets it apart. The Lexus is the safe purchase but the exterior wasn't my favorite design. BMW was fun to drive but 2nd row was small and you can't get to your phone behind drinks in the cup holders. Hated the Genesis infotainment but it was beautiful. Volvo needs a new infotainment and redesign of the tiny cup holders. Pros and Cons for every choice!
This month marks 10 years since I started following the channel. I’ll admit I don’t watch your videos quite as much as I use to but I’ve watched a few of your older videos from 10+ years ago to see just how far you guys have come in that time. Keep up the great work! Almost to a million subs
I cannot understand how you can just free flow and rattle off detail and specific information about this car and you dont even need to catchbyour breath. You just keep going, that is admirable and incredible how you can retain and disseminate information as such pace and volume. You have a gift.
Most likely a photographic memory. I have a friend like that, and a couple of relatives. They 'see' whatever literature they've looked at and just remember it. Pretty amazing.
I am not sure why this video review mentioned drag racing other vehicles with a GLE 450, owners who can legitimately afford a mid sized SUV at this price tag aren't the type of people who will be interested in doing that. They are buying a Mercedes GLE 450 because: 1. The quite interior, allowing for quality time with their family. 2. The technology, smooth and nicely integrated, like their life and career. 3. Safety. Protecting themselves and their family is priority no. 1. 4. Easy to drive in all sorts of conditions. The GLE 450 is surprisingly nimble and its heavy weight offers a lot confidence when road conditions suddenly changed. In a sudden snow or rain storm, the GLE affords a lot of safety and comfort to the driver and passengers. Its software and electronics respond extremely fast and well to changes in road conditions. 5. Comfort. The seats are very nice, great for those long road trips with the family. 6. Status symbol. This is a king suburban cruiser. Tech and Finance professionals who moved away from big cities to the suburbs find it a great vehicle with its subtle and understated hint of prosperity, defining who they are. It it no surprise that year 2021 was when the GLE 450 sold so well, it was also when the tech/finance exodus from big cities to suburbs happened.
I believe the 2nd row seat isn't one-touch "return to position" so that it doesn't crush a third row occupant. Safety feature. That is why rear windows are not always one-touch up: an occupant or pet could be injured.
Makes sense. The 3rd row seat in this vehicle is not very practical unless you have very young children. Even then I would opt for something like the Grand Cherokee L Summit Reserve and save about $20k.
Hi Mechanical Engineer German American here. I love the fact that I get the same Inline 6 375 HP as the GLS but I like that the 4Matic is $70,000 new. Question the research's says you get 18/26 MPG combined 22 city/highway is that about correct? It seems right became you get about 20-21 MPG for the GLS. You LOSE on SPEED vs the BMW but if you go with the 450 4 matic, what you lose in some speed, you gain in luxury and quiet ride. I like actually the all weather wheels so 19 might be the way to go but 20 is fine. If you want a sportier Mid Sized Sedan then you might want to look at the Audi Q7 or the BMWX 5 series.
I'm glad this review is here. I've been trying to convince my dad to go for the GLE over the GV80, X5, CX-90, and Q7. He wants top notch luxury as opposed to "sportiness" for his SUV, and I'm convinced that the GLE and GV80 has that in spades.
I would say after this review and how the 3rd row is and some missing features in the front, I'd rather have the X5, CX-90, or the GV-80. Even the Q7 has a bit more space in the back than this care.
If it rides anything like an E-class which I’m sure it does. I say go for it. My best friend has one and it’s so smooth. I’m not a German car person, but I’ve even been debating it.
The GV80 is a MUCH BETTER OPTION for the price. The materials inside are much better. Mercedes has better technology and the ambiance lighting but you would have to shell out close to 100k on this GLE450 just to get some diamond stitching seats that the GV80 gives you for much lower I lease a GLE53 so I am not being biased. If I had to buy a new vehicle today as opposed to in 2021 when this vehicle was way cheaper, I would get the GV80 This car isn’t any more sporty than the GV80. The GLE53 is but not the 450 Genesis is coming out w a more performance sporty coupe next year so if your father can wait, maybe wait for that

They are ugly. They are going back to the old design of the older mid sized Mercedes SUV. The multi spoke design which had like 20 spokes was so much better

I've leased 2 of these. No more though. The one in this video is $94,000. That's just crazy. It still has a plastic on the doors and steering wheel. I ended up buying a 2024 Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve. Same size as the GLE 450. It has a stunning interior with adjustable air suspension, heated and cooled/ventilated front AND rear seats, night vision with object warning, 950 watt MacIntosh 19 speaker stereo, 21" wheels, passenger side hi res screen, wireless Apple & Android car play, leather steering wheel, LED lamps throughout, massage front seats, etc etc etc. Its about $70k. It also has a similar mild hybrid motor with 350 hp and 360 lb torque. I ended up getting the V6 because I don't want to deal with hybrid motors. It has plenty of power for my use but the hybrid is the way to go if you want the extra horse power or you do some towing. And its American made. I'm done with Mercedes.
In 4 years, the price will drop by 50%. Terrible depreciation, terrible longevity, and terrible on the wallet to repair. They’re nice when they’re new though.

The BMW X5 actually starts at a higher price, $65k to start, but there is no 4-banger X5. The X5 starts with 375 HP, just like this 450, so it's about $5k less than the Benz
You didn't mention the annoying clunking sound it makes when the rear camera deploys whenever the car crosses above or below about 18 mph. It ruins a very quiet car.
100% agree - other then Mat Watson and the guys from Throttle house - no one actually reviews cars with detail or specs and length and width numbers .. when people ask me about a car they want I look up Sofyan and send it there way lol
I couldn’t agree more. Such a solid channel. Very informative with interiors,Gives his honest opinion on each car always zero to sixty numbers and the price alway at the end.
Nice review as always. And very timely for me. I have 15 year old ML350 which has been fairly reliable. No really major issues. I may stay with Mercedes... without a lot of these options. More in to functionality.
I owned 2 ML 350's but the price on the new ones are just crazy. The one in this video is $94,000. Yikes! It still has a plastic on the doors and steering wheel. Do yourself a favor and look at the 2024 Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve. Same size as the GLE 450. BMW X5 all the way. Cheaper, faster, better MPG, looks better from the exterior, and offers 3 year complementary maintenance. And from my own experience and based off of CR’s testing - new BMW models, especially the G05 X5 are WAY more reliable than any of Mercedes current products. My family has had numerous Mercedes cars, and while they’re luxurious, at this price point they’re obsolete.
I think it depends on personal experience I have family members with Benz and Beemers and Benzs have been far more reliable, however the common denominator is when they break they going to be in the shop for a while and depending on the issue it might make you get another loan to fix it😂🤣, I'm not a German cars kind of guy for me I'll go with Lexus or Acura but to each their own🤷
@@oririona5462 I don’t know what BMW’s you’re driving but the new (2019+) BMW’s are more reliable than NEW Mercedes Benz Products - 15 years ago it was vise versa.
sacond row you have to hold a button, for safety, if accidentally not press yours legs, or legs other person. if it was automatic children, or adults could forget that it folding back and press they legs or something else especially for children. when you do it manually you can immediately stop the seats.
My mom and Grandma both got a GLE and my mom’s came with the running boards which is good for kids but my grandma thought her car looked empty so she got them installed
The X5 is cheaper, faster, gets better MPG, is more reliable based on CR and my own personal experience- and has 3 year complimentary maintenance. It also looks better (from the exterior Atleast).
Had the 2023 x5 and it got hit. It's cheaper because it's made of plastic. I wish I could post the photo. You get cheap plastic and the dealer said it was to protect the passenger. Never again! I'll buy this as its NOT made of plastic. You get what you pay for. My car was totaled out. Bmw is plastic crap.
I heard BMW is initially is cheaper than Mercedes but more money to maintain I don’t like BMW as much because more people have it and not that many people have Mercedes so if you want to stand out and be the fucking man I would get the Benz Smoother ride and probably more luxurious also in my opinion
@@goodtimestv9690 My family has had both Mercedes and BMWs over the last 30 years, and personally have liked BMW more. Better driving dynamics, better styling (atleast in years past), better MPG, cheaper, etc. You don’t buy either for superb reliability - but, in recent years BMW has proved more reliable.
2024?? Looks like a 2014, VERY old fashions looking compared to any 2024 BMW X5, Audi SQ5/7, or even Genesis GV70. But the NEW steering wheel, now that is AMAZING...LOL!!! Love your reviews Sofyan, and you know sport SUVs, this is NOT it. Tell it like it is, Mercedes is way behind in design in the SUV lineup. Really glad I got rid of mine and got the X7 M50i.
Completely agree. They have been using this same design for years now. I’ve been considering purchasing one however I won’t touch it until the interior is finally and completely updated
This is not really a review. Where is the critique? Mouse pads are a joke when your driving in traffic or down the highway. Needs a mouse wheel they used to have before 2020. Drinks block access to the cel phone area. Really poorly designed center console. And in the screen, should have quick access between FM, AM, Sirius and Apple Play.
I would like you to #review two giants 2023/2024 #Cadillac #Escalade and #Range #Rover #LWB #SE #seven #seaters I really looking for a best reviewer review to help me move forward with one of it. 🤞

I think it depends on personal experience I have family members with Benz and Beemers and Benzs have been far more reliable, however the common denominator is when they break they going to be in the shop for a while and depending on the issue it might make you get another loan to fix it😂🤣, I'm not a German cars kind of guy for me I'll go with Lexus or Acura but to each their own🤷
Mercedes Benz are way more reliable than those BMWs coming from a former Break My Wallet fanboy
@@oririona5462 I don’t know what BMW’s you’re driving but the new (2019+) BMW’s are more reliable than NEW Mercedes Benz Products - 15 years ago it was vise versa.
Not as elegant though
NICEEE!!! POGGG!!!
Wish it didn't have that ambient lights, makes it look like cheap juke box
sacond row you have to hold a button, for safety, if accidentally not press yours legs, or legs other person. if it was automatic children, or adults could forget that it folding back and press they legs or something else especially for children. when you do it manually you can immediately stop the seats.
My mom and Grandma both got a GLE and my mom’s came with the running boards which is good for kids but my grandma thought her car looked empty so she got them installed
Why is there no leather on the horn part of the steering wheel?
Ikr! It's definitely an oversight on Mercedes' part. Joe zonks it all the time.
@@jeffs6090yeah I mean I dont know why. Bmw has it on almost all there cars
How does this compare to X5?
X5 is slightly cheaper and faster
The X5 is cheaper, faster, gets better MPG, is more reliable based on CR and my own personal experience- and has 3 year complimentary maintenance. It also looks better (from the exterior Atleast).
Had the 2023 x5 and it got hit. It's cheaper because it's made of plastic. I wish I could post the photo. You get cheap plastic and the dealer said it was to protect the passenger. Never again! I'll buy this as its NOT made of plastic. You get what you pay for. My car was totaled out. Bmw is plastic crap.
I heard BMW is initially is cheaper than Mercedes but more money to maintain
I don’t like BMW as much because more people have it and not that many people have Mercedes so if you want to stand out and be the fucking man I would get the Benz
Smoother ride and probably more luxurious also in my opinion
@@goodtimestv9690 My family has had both Mercedes and BMWs over the last 30 years, and personally have liked BMW more. Better driving dynamics, better styling (atleast in years past), better MPG, cheaper, etc. You don’t buy either for superb reliability - but, in recent years BMW has proved more reliable.
Nice car
Nah. Mercedes isn’t behind in design. I’ve seen brands whos designs are already outdated even before they hit dealerships
Completely agree. They have been using this same design for years now.
I’ve been considering purchasing one however I won’t touch it until the interior is finally and completely updated
@@xefour imo it’s aged really well. The fact that it’s still strongly competitive shows
Wait. Audi Q7??? Do you know how old that car is??
@@xefourfor years? What, since 2020? Lmao the Q7 and X5 are older.
Drove one with 57,000 miles today it felt like it was going to collapse these things are lease only 😅
its brand new how can you get 57k on it
@@hassyg4083this generation of the gle came out 2020
Said no one ever about a new benz 😂😂😂
@@hassyg4083It’s been out since 2020. This is an update, mid cycle refresh
Did it really? Is benz quality going down? Compared to 2010?
I don't understand the biasness for Leather, the faux leather is not just as good but better...and better for environment and our four legged friends.
Anyone have it? About to do a 24 month lease. Let me know if I’ll regret it! I’m in Miami
Somebody school me please. Does the GLE also come with turbo diesel also or only turbocharged.
In the US they are only gas or gas+PHEV.
had the macciato leather in glc,,, disaster with 2 kids… gle went with black non leather, much nicer in sweden (too cold leather when its cold out)
i got the 2023 version / hybdid electric
wondering what to get in 3 years from now
how the reliability of it so far man
I don't need the 3rd row seats. If you need them, I would have bought a mini van.
25K overpriced
no, its a mercedes
No. Because it’s worth it. It’s a Mercedes which means it’s cool and special.
It’s the name and the prestige. But not overpriced, worth every dollar
2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE450 4MATIC AMG Line Pinnacle Night Package!
Probably my favorite suv with the x5 gv80 or aviator
Can anyone tell me if the GLE450 comes with rear window sun shades?
It does
Me gusta mercedes benz para Dominica
Bro, it's not fully revised 🤦🏻♂️
BMW still blows this out of the water in every way including materials quality
Way too expensive!
Only if you are poor.
But it’s worth it because it’s a Mercedes which is cool
@@MauriceBln1 You are right.
@@naveenthemachine beautiful car tbh
Excellent work Carnversations.. haki I'm now reconsidering an option for purchasing a zero millage coz inaonekana KAFENGO is actually from Japan.
This vehicle is amazing but that steering wheel with the touch controls is horrible.
Lease only, right? The GLE is always in the top 5 least reliable.
983k followers. Sofyan, we need bugatti chiron pursport to get 1 mln.
That MPG is abysmal. That’s a bummer.
5.4 sec to 60 ml/h it is rocket.
Those air vents look like my moms 96 Nissan quest minivan 😂
I used to be obsessed with woodgrain interiors when I was younger…now I refuse to drive a car with wood, because it feels so old to me.
Well open pore matte wood looks & feels great to the touch
This generation always looked like a hyundai.
Cute short
I like the older version. It looked more aggressive. Idk, this just doesn’t do it for me
I would like you to #review two giants 2023/2024 #Cadillac #Escalade and #Range #Rover #LWB #SE #seven #seaters
I really looking for a best reviewer review to help me move forward with one of it. 🤞
No vented 2nd row seats and a tortuous 3rd row. Overpriced prestige.
Next time, just play nice music and don't talk.
This thing in 350 form is terrible. It's the brand that sells it vs the actual quality of what you're getting. You need the air suspension
Performance is unacceptable for that price level.
Nah. It’s still decent. You could do so much worse
It's not about race track and speed, there are other vehicles for that.
this one can't dance bounce?

Mercedes invented this segment? I think not...Lexus RX did
ML came out before RX
@@davidxavier1396 ....
ML came out in 97 and rx 98, X5 99
@@oririona5462 nope...both came out 97 as 98 model...but RX 6 months before. But RX made it mainstream..."inventing the segment"..
@@theluminary5324 No way you’re wrong do more research please the ML came out in 1997 and sales started in the same year then Toyota launched the Harrier in Japan 1998 and later that year the RX300 came out which is the luxury version of the Harrier in 1999 there are no 1998 modes rx300 it started in 1999 there are 1997 models of the ML320. Lexus didn’t invent this segment that was the era Lexus tried to copy most Mercedes models and eventually created vehicles to compete Mercedes models as well.
Buy a used AWD CRV and use the savings to visit Japan
😂 sure…
A crv is nowhere near as good as the GLE.
Lol
😅
way to fast talking speed to actually take in what you are describing - disappointed with this video, looking for a better one
Why are you lying that Mercedes is a luxury SUV? It's a premium brand, not a luxury one.
🤡
Not worth 80k
Buying this soon for my wife
How funny… you voted for J0E , a man that destroyed the American dream… and you get to buy a Mercedes Benz, while millions go without…. How ironic

Not the 2023 or 2021 or 2020?
They need to square this vehicle off. It’s too soft looking and nothing really exciting about this SUV.
