- Jesu, joy of man's desiring by Johann Sebastian Bach performed in an organ transcription by Ben Bloor on the 45 stop 1954 Downes/Walker organ of the London Oratory Church on Tuesday 2nd July 2024.
The chorale 'Jesu, joy of man's desiring', or to give it its original text 'Wohl mir, dass ich Jesum habe' and 'Jesus bleibet meine Freude', is taken from Bach's 1723 cantata 'Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben'. The piece has enjoyed enduring popularity over the years and is often heard at weddings and funerals.

Obrigado Sr!!
Very beautiful played and I LOVED the registration! Thank you so much for this gift!
Truly lovely start to my morning ❤
love your tempo.
so nice !
Very interesting, never realized this famous piece could sound so great if played much faster than one normally hears it.
A 'brisk' tempo in this fine performance of BWV 147 on the gorgeous Downes/Walker Organ: bravo, Ben. (You manage it in under three minutes; some UA-camrs take over four minutes! Tempo choice certainly influences the 'mood' presented by the music - if only we knew what Bach did with it!)
Sorry, but too fast for me.
The speed is impressive, but doesn't suit this piece. It's not an Irish jig!
Far too fast, no feeling at all.
