    Rimango sempre piacevolmente colpito sia dal tuo ingegno che dalle capacità di questo "tornietto", prima o poi lo prenderò anche io quando potro!
    Dal basso della mi conoscenza ed esperienza in materia però ti vorrei dare 2 consigli;
    1) come ben sai ogni utensile ha la sua velocità di taglio, ed in genere soprattuto forando è buona norma ridurre la velocità ma mano che si sale col diametro della punta, anche perchè danneggiare/spaccare gli utensili o peggio farsi male è un attimo!
    2) Nella ghiera che stringe i cuscinetti hai messo giustamente il classico grano, quindi sull'alberino ti converrebbe prevedere una zona senza filetto dove puntarlo, perchè se malauguratamente dovesse muoversi o essere stretto troppo andando a danneggiare appunto il filetto, poi smontarlo per manutenzione o altro potrebbe diventare un incubo, ho fatto un paio d'anni il meccanico movimento terra, e molti pistoni idraulici hanno quel sistema di bloccaggio (alcuni anche con il grano che stringe su 1 sfera altri "grano su grano") e può diventare facilmente un delirio, tanto che noi sul lavoro alcuni steli di pistoni che notoriamente presentavano questo problema li madavamo direttamente dal fabbro a tagliare e rifare il filetto nuovo, perchè tanto sapevamo già dove si andava a parare.
    Poi mi chiedevo, visto che usi utensili da taglio con le classiche placchette, come mai non prendi quelle con rompi-truciolo per non avere trucioli lunghissimi? questione di qualità-prezzo o altro?
    e poi sempre curiosità mia, non hai mai sentito la necessità di aggiungere una pompa per emulsionante per alcune lavorazioni che esegui anzichè dare olio da taglio e basta?

    • @Mauri59g
      @Mauri59g  21 день тому +1

      Grazie mille Vresse.
      La velocità delle punte è corretta, forse ti ha confuso l'aumento di velocità del video.
      Nella ghiera ho messo un grano diretto sul filetto perchè prevedo minimi spostamenti di strinta, cosa non possibile creando un pianetto, ma poi volendo, togli il grano e con una piccola fresa di 4mm togli la piccola sezione di filetto danneggiato, ma poi ancora, stiamo parlando di accessorio hobbistico, quindi i cuscinetti avranno vita per lungo tempo, forse troppo per poterlo constatare.
      Si tutti i miei utensili sono made in Cina nella versione più economica possibile.

    Maravilloso! me encanta ver tus videos, "cuando sea mayor, quiero tornear como Maurizio" es lo que me viene a la cabeza...todo limpio...una gotita de aceite aquí y a cortar!...esa forma de sacar virutas...esos acabados...esos ingenios!...ese vasto conocimiento que despliegas para ingeniar y materializar lo perfecto...siempre estoy atento a tus nuevos videos! me tomo una cerveza para disfrutarlos, a tu salud! 🍺 y mil gracias por el currazo porque, aparte de todo, supongo que también serás el que se trabaja la edición de videos de 1 hora o más y de gestionar tu página en yutuf...en fin, vaya mente inquieta, razonadora, vaya manos ágiles, vaya experiencia (no me cabe la menor duda, por tus propias palabras)......que mareo! que charlatán! voy de una vez al grano: me parece que funciona de PM (parece muy dosificable), es otra genialidad "by Maurizio" y creo que es UTIL para casi todo operador de un torno (raro es el que no tiene que hacer una rosca con macho). Mil gracias por compartir!!

    A nice solution looking for a problem. Use common friction collets for taps.

    • @Mauri59g
      @Mauri59g  21 день тому

      Thanks Tates , apart from the high cost of friction tap holders, those are ideal for repetitive jobs in series, but you know very well that based on the diameter, the type of tap, the type of steel and the depth of the thread it would be necessary to adjust each time and it is not always obvious.
      You manage this clutch, it is certainly more gradual and tolerates prolonged slipping better.
      You can do other things with this one.

    Hola maurizio ,excelente idea ,,una herramienta universal ,,muy util y especial ,para no romper,machos, ni dados de terrajas ,en especial,,,,y luego las ,demas prestaciones ,que no son pocas las aplicaciones que puede prestar ,,sea con el plato ,o los conos ,,,,haber maurizio ,ahora le propongo otra herramienta,una contrapunta giratoria, y desplazable ,Para su torno con punta esferica,y otra contrapunta fija del lado del plato, tambien,punta esferica , como para tornear, conos largos con el carro longitudinal ,conel avance automatico ,,,esa misma tiene otras aplicaciones ,por ejemplo cuando un punto centro de algun eje esta dañado ,desplazando del lado del plato las mordazas ,,y por ende la contrapunta ,hacer una excéntrica en cualquier punto de un eje ,,,y hay otras mas ,es tambien algo muy simple y util ,principalmente para conos largos ,ya que no hay que mover la base del Contrapunto,,y si se marca la posición,del punto , se pueden repetir piezas ,con el mismo cono ,sin perder la alineación de la contrapunta ,nii tampoco la,conicidad elegida ,,,por ejemplo hacer unas manivela,para la taladradora ,,se pueden hacer individuales ,ypor pasos, ,cuando llegue hacer el cono ,aera idéntico ,,y no se mueve nada del torno, solo desplazar la punta,hot algunos usan cabezal de mandrinar ,desplazable,,eso va en gusto ,,mas es tan lindo hacerlo uno mismo ,,,,muchas grasias maurizio por compartir su trabajo ,de echo, excelente ,,un abrazo ,,,,

    i like this design a lot more than the Hemingway Kits version! i think using a tractor clutch disc was a great idea. are you concerned at all about the metal parts wearing too much?

    • @Mauri59g
      @Mauri59g  19 днів тому

      Thank you Matty , this disc is not for tractor, it is for tractor cardan joint, it is born without cooling breaks, it is all smooth so it does not cause unwanted jumping, it is sintered organic base, so little or no abrasive dust, it has a very high maximum allowed pressure level.
      No, I am not worried about consumption, the friction comes from the high
      pressure and not from the degree of abrasion.

I understand that you are trying to keep the video length shorter but when you skip too much of the machining process it just become not enjoyable to watch. I spent more time trying to figure out what I missed than actually just watching and enjoying. I'd rather have a longer video or a 2 part video than the skipping through quickly. 🙏 Of course this is simply an opinion. 😉
    Thank you for your wonderful work! 🙏🔥

    Ciao Maurizio, like always a very inspirational and technically very exciting build from you ❤ but I'm wondering, if a friction plate from a motorcycle clutch would also work instead of the large tractor one? The surface self of a motorcycle clutch would be much smaller and I have no idea how much torque a single plate can transmit 🤷🏻‍♂️ maybe you have an idea?! Cheers Christian

    • @Mauri59g
      @Mauri59g  21 день тому +2

      Thanks Daten, a motorcycle clutch is smaller in the multi-disc oil bath models, but much thicker.
      single-disc dry clutches are not much smaller and are no longer used, only in racing models.
      This friction disc costs 7 euros and certainly much less than a motorcycle disc.
      This disc is more suitable for working at low revs.
      A very high pressure can be applied to this disc, much higher than what motorcycle clutch springs would do.
      below the normal motorcycle clutches
      (the permissible pressure for the friction surface material varies in the range p = 0.05-0.20 N/mm2)

    • @datenkrake3434
      @datenkrake3434 21 день тому +1

      @Mauri59g I still have somewhere the original clutch from my former Ducati 996 which would cost me nothing - but normally they are 6 or 7 friction plates and I was thinking about if only 1 could be enough. A single disc from a Guzzi or BMW would be far too large in diameter, but you already convinced me with the price. Thank you for the answer 👌🏼 😊

    • @Mauri59g
      @Mauri59g  21 день тому +2

      @@datenkrake3434 I don't know that, but it's obvious that that type of disc can't sustain a lot of pressure, it's also true that the power to be managed was much higher but it's even more true that on the lathe it's used with the reduced gear, therefore great force. Now I don't remember, but if the disc was of the continuous type, you could try, but if it's interrupted for cooling, I wouldn't even start

    Hmmm, both brilliant and horrid... That clutch dust is bound to fall out of that sandwich as it is being generated, and quite subtly while at it, making it a great source of grinding dust on the ways, which i need not explain why that is a bad thing... Otherwise, a fucking great idea, beautiful work, nicely thought up and put together, but the abrasive dust is a no-no in my books... I have considered some workarounds and solutions, but with the friction modifier collar where it is - a large rubber homokinetic joint boot and a custom double seal+double sealed bearing solution is impossible, as it would wholly deny access to the friction modifier... Hmmm... There are solutions, but they involve a full redesign of the friction modifier mechanism... Also, speaking of dust, that shit is bound to clog the clutches, this is not like an engine-gearbox bell housing which has room for dust to settle whenever the clutch is declutched by the pedal; this is a very confined enclosure that leaves very little room for junk to evacuate and allow the system to do it`s job as intended...
    None of this is said in a bad light, just technical and personal(abrasive shit around machines) observations and considerations... As said, beautifully done, but i think that i see some issues with the design overall... I guess that the dust issue could be settled with a labyrinth seal and a running seal construction(two seals, just to keep that shit confined) and the mechanical interference of dust being generated could have been solved by a larger diameter which would allow for a few crescent half-slots in the bottom of the ``bowl`` that would allow a moderate amount of dust to be evacuated and retained before requiring cleaning to again allow for room for dust to be shed...
    Best regards!
    Steuss

    • @Mauri59g
      @Mauri59g  21 день тому +1

      Thanks Camillo
      If you watch the video carefully you will notice that the disk is slightly thicker than the bell cavity, so the pressure disk remains slightly detached from the bell, the dust comes out freely, nothing is closed.
      The bell is deliberately turned badly to hinder the rotation of the abrasive disk, the rubbing only on the pressure disk.
      That minimal dust that comes out is not sand, this disk is sintered organic, much worse when you turn rusty steels.

    • @camillosteuss
      @camillosteuss 20 днів тому

      @@Mauri59g Agreed, i noticed that you induced as appropriate of a driving geometry as possible, it`s just that i don`t see all the dust evacuating outta there with complete ease... The ``outer`` half of the discs will definitely shed most of their dust out, but the inner section, closer to internal diameter is likely to retain some junk... I can`t say with 100% certainty...
      Speaking of the dust, yeah, i know that it ain`t as bad as cbn/diamond/hardened steel particles, but as far as i know, that shit has some kevlar and other fibers in it, none of which are desirable around the shop... But i agree, rust is worse - that is why i literally always clean my steel from rust until it shines bright - no scale, no rust, no abrasive dust in my shop... Around 80% of my steel stock is clean and oiled to keep it rust free until machining, the other 20% gets de-rusted with acid bath + basic neutralization + soapy bath followed by WD40 and drying before work... I treat my machines as they were immunocompromised terminal disease patients, i love them too much to risk any nonsense...
      You have got no idea how many comments i have left on people`s channels not to machine rusty stock... Mostly it was a waste of effort, but some people realize the horror of their prior actions... Rust is bad for not just slideways, but jaws and all other clamping surfaces...

    • @Mauri59g
      @Mauri59g  18 днів тому +1

      @@camillosteuss Note that this clutch is made up of a single disc, this disc is embedded inside and does not rotate on the bell, so the rubbing occurs on a single external wall in contact with the pressure disc.
      This friction disc is created for universal joints to be connected to the tractor PTO, therefore suitable for making a few revolutions per minute but with a lot of power, much, much more than a simple lathe.
      This disc is smooth, it has no cooling interruptions like automotive clutches.
      This disc does not work by abrasion, it works by pressure.
      This disc does not emit dust.
      Bravo!! if you manage to keep your steel in good condition it is a great result, do not worry about people who do not agree, continue with your work philosophy, bye.

    • @camillosteuss
      @camillosteuss 18 днів тому +1

      @@Mauri59g Hmmm, no matter how you look at it, a friction disc has to rely on abrasive properties of the material to allow the bite of the clutch to function well... Taper clutch is the only other form of clutch that allows for a smooth engagement like that, other than wandlers and other such contraptions(dog clutches not incl, as they are either ``in or out``)... but that relies on the nature of tapers over friction alone... Automotive gearbox clutch also relies on pressure(i mean, hell, the thing that clamps it is called ``a pressure plate``), but that bitch does shed mad dust over time, as well as wearing down both the pressure plate and the flywheel itself...
      I know that this is a much more tame scenario, as you said yourself, i`m likely just paranoid as i do have automotive background, and friction discs of any sort are generally associated with a lot more dust in that scenario... Also keep in mind that that clutch is mostly only different in size from the gearbox clutch, at least friction material-wise... Any slippage of a friction disc always generates some loose material, either from the disc or the pressure surfaces, it`s just the nature of the mechanism, but i agree - it is less bad than hardcore abrasives, yet i abhor it nonetheless...
