Thanks so much for watching Govindaraj. Photography certainly knows how to raise your heart beat and it is not always easy to let go of old habits - I am still learning from my fellow photographers that I meet every single day. Let me know how it goes
Yes it was really very useful tips of Low - Key and High - Key along with changing position, angle with dare to photograph some thing interesting... Liked Thanks .
Very thought provoking video for me. I easily get stuck in ruts and fall back to "what has worked" in the past. Thanks for the motivation to take some chances
thanks a lot for the feedback Mark ... I am glad the tips are helping. It is always good to listen to someone new explaining things (that you maybe know already) a bit different. I love joining other photographers on their trips and listen in.
Janine, I thought your presentation was brilliant. I loved the way you presented, “Out of the box ways of shooting.” This is how one creates Fine Art Photography.
thanks a lot for the feedback Ron ... I am glad the tips are helping. I was so nervous when presenting in Cape Town though - haha. Hope to have you back here some time!!!
I ALWAYS have fun with Pangolins photo team! Love you guys!!!! So glad company is putting out UA-cam to help others-like me!! Please keep it coming! Love your classes!! Xoxo
Dear Pangolin respected photographers.I enjoy your tutorial episodes . Very inspirational. What I noticed in your series is that you are using one or two attachments to your gimbal head for better maneuvering yor movements. Can you brighten me up about those accessories ? Many thanks from Iran
Thanks so much for watching Ravi. Photography certainly knows how to raise your heart beat and it is not always easy to let go of old habits - I am still learning from my fellow photographers that I meet every single day. Let me know how it goes
Great combination for all wildlife photographers be it newbie or made experienced photographers to relearning stuff they may not have used in a whilr or forgotten
Excellent. Exactly what I was looking for. Getting a bit bored with my usual wildlife photos and will take the risk. Hope we have a boat ride when we come again in August for eight days.
Thanks so much for watching Ulrich. Photography certainly knows how to raise your heart beat and it is not always easy to let go of old habits - I am still learning from my fellow photographers that I meet every single day. Let me know how it goes and hope to see you this year
Thanks so much for watching. Photography certainly knows how to raise your heart beat and it is not always easy to let go of old habits - I am still learning from my fellow photographers that I meet every single day. Let me know how it goes
Thank you so much for sharing this information! There is a lot here that you do not hear about on most other videos about Wildlife photography. Some of these things I've instinctively done on my own but it's great to see some new ideas and some fresh thoughts about exposure and composition and light. Best of luck to you in 2020!
Thanks so much for watching Forrest. Photography certainly knows how to raise your heart beat and it is not always easy to let go of old habits - I am still learning from my fellow photographers that I meet every single day. Let me know how it goes
thanks a lot for the great feedback Viet ... I am glad the tips are helping. I was so nervous when presenting in Cape Town though - haha. Glad it comes over calmer than I felt
thanks a lot for the feedback Richard ... I am glad the tips are helping. What camera are you shooting with? How high you can push your ISO obviously also depends on your sensor!
Thanks so much for watching Rakesh. Photography certainly knows how to raise your heart beat and it is not always easy to let go of old habits - I am still learning from my fellow photographers that I meet every single day. Let me know how it goes
This is an excellent presentation that promotes more artistic wildlife photography by breaking out of the often too rigid Nature Photography conventions and “rules”. I very much enjoyed being with you on the Pangolin Hotel photo boat before heading out to the Pangolin Voyager for a five night sojourn. I did some high key photography with elephants and also benefited from taking close in shots of interesting parts of a animal. All too often Nature/Wildlife photography judges insist that the image must show the entire animal or it represents a missed shot.
This is an incredible video! I usually take too ordinary shots - trying to keep the exposure right or a bit low. You have now made me think of high-key, low-key and high ISO types of photographs. Thanks a lot!
Dear Janine, I have seen plenty of wildlife photography videos on youtube, being a wildlife photography enthusiast myself. I found your video very sensible, very practical and Really Useful.... after a long time i saw a video worth watching again and again just to understand your creative thought process in order to learn and imbibe it ..... great learning....thanks and keep in flowing in :)
Thanks so much for watching Liz. Photography certainly knows how to raise your heart beat and it is not always easy to let go of old habits - I am still learning from my fellow photographers that I meet every single day. Let me know how it goes
Thanks for pushing the points and myself to do it - I still end with too many ordinary shots out there. Will be more conscious after watching your presentation.
This was fantastic! Thank you for reminding me about finding an artistic interpretation. I spend way too much time trying for the technically perfect shot. Your examples were inspirational.
Wow - best tutorial I've seen in years - really an eye opener, lot's of stuff to try. Thank you! I mean what I said above - this breaks habits! iso 20,000 who'd a thought it.
Thanks so much for watching Rino. Photography certainly knows how to raise your heart beat and it is not always easy to let go of old habits - I am still learning from my fellow photographers that I meet every single day. Let me know how it goes
Your text slides were excellent and beautifully done. The technical narrative was fully attention holding, with tips very appropriate for game drives or water rides. Then, there were those work of art photos. So many of mine superficially resemble yours, and I’m proud of some of them, but yours are beautiful. And, they kept coming for the whole video. It’s hard to get shots like yours but your advice should help folks get better than average results, even when they are there only for a few days. Thank you very much.
Great video Janine. 5:05 that leopard image would benefit great for being shot at eye level, to remove much of the busy background directly behind the subject. Even a smaller aperture would deliver a pleasing image from a lower angle. I know this was likely shot from relatively high up in a vehicle so lowering the angle wasn't an option.
Thx for that video. I‘ll get in a low light and perhaps low contrast situation within a view weeks at bear watching in Sweden in forrests and I was afraid about ISo higher than 6400. After that vid I‘ll set the ISO limet to max. Now I‘ve got a idea about photographing as a art image. Lower shutterspeed for moving subjects in low light can help me to get greater images.
Super, thank you so much. Maybe you know the answer. If i want to create a lowkey image, expose to the right on the lightest part and post-process 3 stops under to get the lowkey image, do you know if a jury sees that as a not acceptable process? Thank you in advance, Ed van Loon
Wow 20k is pushing that iso I try stay under 10k I'm ok with. With a focal length between 500-700 mm that's a shutter speed of 1/1000+ I do shoot as low as 1/500 on a tripod but hand held the numbers are really on point up around 1/2000th Any lower and it's really difficult
When light is getting low like magic hour, throw on ND 3 or 6 for the slower shutter speeds 1/10. Practice whip pans on any subject and you will be amazed. Develop in black & white and crank up the contrast. Thks Janine, we always forget the art part with expensive gear, if it's not sharp wtf? Well if your banger is not sharp you fucked up, but don't ever delete that shot.... just change your habits in Lightroom and do some extreme experimentation.... results can often be slightly out of focus award winning images.
Might want to consider upgrading your camera then. I've got images that are perfectly clean and detailed at ISO 3200 and 6400 with a bit of processing.
Hi Sue.. Are you the same Sue Krayer that commented on my post? Is there another Sue Krayer? Interesting too say the least that you would be making political posts?? You are the only Sue Krayer I could find on UA-cam Apologies if not you.

Even better, Edward would be to come to Botswana and photograph alongside janine and the other photo hosts!

Am a beginner wildlife photographer
everyone is a beginner at some stage.... I feel we are learning every single day so just keep going

I just feel that I lose so much detail when I shoot at high ISO, i.e. 3200 and beyond. The noise just overwhelms the detail at that point.
Might want to consider upgrading your camera then. I've got images that are perfectly clean and detailed at ISO 3200 and 6400 with a bit of processing.
