    Christian Dior died 1957 and people make still money of his name. I wounder how happy he would be that people use practical modern slavery to make cheap bags and charge a lot of money to people who have save their hard earned money for it. LVMH is horrible and since they own those big brands, the ruining them.

      I don't think he would like it at all:(....that's why I'm not buying anything else from the brand at this point. I have a sinking feeling that more and more news about this will come out with other brands owned by LVMH, but perhaps this scandal will force them to clean up their act. We can hope! Ty for watching and commenting ♥️.

    I feel like the Balenciaga scandal was way worse because it sexualized children. For Dior, Yes bad working condition are horrible but so much of what people buy are made in China and we all know the working conditions there are bad and yet we still buy the goods. How is this any different? I will never buy or wear Balenciaga but I would still buy and wear Dior. I don’t think this scandal is worth boycotting the brand. That’s just my opinion.

    Chanel along with all the houses, but especially Chanel their prices are outrageous and the quality does not match the price tag. The hardware was better on the older bags and there so many quality issues with them today. I do not want to hear so many quality issues with a $12,000 bag. I’m steering away from luxury.

      Around my area people don't keep up with this sort of thing. One thing I found out is Chanel had a similar scandal about a year ago - the workers had no heat and were freezing and now no one is talking about it:(....

  • @alicew991
    @alicew991 3 місяці тому +3

    I'm pretty certain Dior is not the only luxury house that has these working conditions. I believe many decades ago, luxury wasn't quite so ubiquitious amoung the middle class, therefore demand was low and steady and the lux houses could meet the demand with more skilled workers. But it seems social media has really brought luxury to the forefront of our awareness and now the demand is so high, that these houses need to outsource to meet demand. I think this is why we're seeing the many quality issues from multiple brands. Super Dacob did a video on alleged Chanel working conditions, "Information Leak From Inside Chanel Bag Factory - Worker's Conditions Allegedly Worse than Expected!". I'm a huge LV fan and have many bags that I love wearing but I'm concerned about its manufacturing process. I'd hate to own these bags and then feel ashamed to wear them because my purchase supports poor working conditions. Given the price of these items compaired to the low material costs, there really is no good excuse for these kind of working conditions...but the lux houses appear to be trying to hoard as much profit as possible. Sorry for the long message...I guess I had a lot to say about it.

      @thehandbaghousewife  3 місяці тому

      Thank you so much for what you did say! I need to check out Dacob's video for sure. I will look for it…I don't want to feel ashamed either, and I think this Dior thing is prob just the tip of the iceberg:(...

    I feel Dior brand could have squashed this entire ordeal just by showing people making the leather bags in a pristine factory. They did nothing to dissuade me from thinking that they are aware of the production of their insanely price goods - basically selling the brand name on items that are probably sourced out. Certainly more than Dior are probably guilty of this, but $53 to make and selling for $2800. I know they are machine made bags but my goodness- it does not feel luxurious to me when I KNOW the product is made in a nightmare of a factory taking advantage of disenfranchised people. I wouldn’t get rid of anything unless it no longer brings joy because who knew. As for me- I am not purchasing anymore from them until this is straightened out. Using people like that- not cool.

    • @thehandbaghousewife
      @thehandbaghousewife  3 місяці тому

      Yes, I don't want to buy anything right now from them for this and other reasons too....but I also am rewatching a video by Super Dacob from a year ago - and my suspicion that other luxury bags are also likely at fault IS looking more and more like it is true (allegedly as he will say), which I suspected. I don't believe the bags I have were made at this Italian sweat shop, but who knows where they were made at this point:(...

    Aaryn, this was a good video given what is going on right now. I think you will have so much fun in New Orleans! My nieces went to NY to see Taylor Swift and then saw her in Cincinnati also. They loved her concerts! You will make great memories with your family. I came from a big family with lots of aunts and uncles and cousins and most have passed away now. How quickly time passes! I still have my twin and my younger brother and their families and other nieces and my son and daughter in law and my beautiful granddaughter.😊 I still have all the wonderful memories of my family that have passed. This definitely blows a hole in the theory of “you’re paying for quality” ummm no you’re getting ripped off. If they’re selling a bag for a couple thousand that they have less than $60 in says so much about the greed of the company. I doubt that they are the only ones doing it they were just the ones who got caught.
