Is doing Mtech in IIT Bombay or top 7 IITs still relevant and then get into Google through placements because I am preparing for GATE Exam. I am not doubting my decision but just want to know your opinion that is doing Mtech still worth it because OpenAI just launched GPT o1 defeating 89% of people in codeforeces. Please share your opinion.
It's easier to get into through campus placements with those colleges apart from that, in off-campus it has little to no effect. That becomes even more true after you get 2+ years.
You can get job anywhere you want because of IIT brand . As you told chart GPT 1o has arrived now it is more important for you to clear GATE and get into IIT because if any filters apply first normal employees would go not you . And not just that the network you will make at IIT is also valuable.
IITs have little to do with getting into Google. Stop being blinded by IIT tag and focus on learning relevant skills. Much better choice would be picking up CS if you want to go into Google even if that is from some other college.
I mostly prepared by leetcoding. I didn't specifically prepare for system design, data modeling rounds since that was my strong suit.
