1:08 "I was kinda just shoving things in and hoping for the best - just like my love life." Can you PLEASE stop catching me off guard like that? I nearly choked on my drink.
My sister has always said that poachers deserve to get put in a cage and let the animals poach them. So it would be halarious if you put a little statue or a staff worker in a little cage and surround it by frequently poached African animal statues🤣🤣🤣 The idea kills me🤣🤣🤣
A great build for my favorite animal however the habitat has way to many plants because elephants already live in partially barren environments. It may just be me from liking to build within the comfortable areas but still it looks like way to many plants for a desert like biome.
Same. I don’t like how he has too much foliage in a lot of his exhibits. The African savannah often just has the high grass and a few trees. Every elephant exhibit I have seen in my life is very basic. Green grass and some trees but it’s that basic. I like it that way. If you get the chance check out the North Carolina zoo exhibit for the elephants. It’s huge but it’s very basic. Make it simple is often the way to go. My main problem though is that he l puts all of his emphasis on exhibit building and devotes like two percent of the video time to actually giving us the chance to see the animals. I go to the zoo to see the animals not the exhibits.
elephants actually live in quite densely grown areas. one of the two kinds of african elephants actually lives only in forests, the other kind also finds shelter in foliage, making them invisible when they want to be despite being incredibly huge so it's not too weird :)
I saw their was a collection o Dinosaur skeletons on the steam workshop, including the Spinosaurus, Which could look really cool almost eroded out of a rock background, that could be a really cool non-animal display; I believe there is also a mammoth one that you could use for your elephant graveyard.
I have been watching this channel since the 2013 King Kong game play through. Edit : That empty space in the corner, you could add a Staff building. Just a suggestion rather than blocking it off with a wall.
I think it wou,d be really cool to have a small museum with some exibit animals in side of it and some skeletons , an elephant graveyard , some African tribe pieces and maybe types of African plant . You could also have your poaching display there
I'd cover the poaching display away from the elephant BestInSlot, have you seen Attenborough's soul-crushing documentaries where they stop and have a funeral every time they see elephant bones!?! It's tragic!!!! Don't put them through it!!!!!!
"I was just kinda shoving things in it, hoping for the best. Much like my love life." -BiS, 2020 I replayed this part of the video at least 12 times to make sure I really heard him say that! 🤣🤣
I suggest Noodle Nose as one of the elephant sign names lol. It has nice alliteration. Also for the blank wall, maybe some kind of display of info signs about the path elephants take during migration? The “Elephant” documentary on Disney+ might inspire you! It’s a beautiful documentary.
Just love the fact that all the names are in Afrikaans !😍 (The English kind of throws off the pronunciation of "Olifant huis" but thats okay ! Atleast Im Afrikaans and know what you mean 😂)
suggestion: when you make the eating area connect it to an enclosure. i went to a zoo like that once and it was really convenient to just finish eating and be in the next exhibit in a matter of minutes. i'll have to ask my grandma what zoo it was but i will update as soon as i find out.
To make a tall thin baobab tree you could put the tree in and turn it upside down so the leaves are hidden and then put another baobab on top of it facing up so you get a taller effect.
I think that he should showcase the plant life in the exhibit on the long Gap in the elephant house, and each one gets and brief description. I just thought that since the exhibit has so much foliage, it would be cool to learn a little about each type of plant.
personally I'd do a mix of mostly standard long grass with generous patches of foliage. but a little more African scrubland foliage rather than all those plants from different environments. since bush elephants tend to inhabit more scrubland and barren areas i'd leave some of the lusher greenery more around the water's edge, giving it sort of an oasis-ish vibe (although I understand if you had that idea planned for another exhibit.)
For the sake of your sanity you might want to adjust that barrier of the warthog's enclosure. As for the elephant signs, you should title one either "Super Snoot" or "Wonder Nose"
About the pronunciation: the -o in olifant is exactly the same as the -o in 'over'. It's like a longer o-sound, if that makes sense to you. The rest you pronounce just fine :) the -li is like the lea in 'leaf' and the -fant is like 'fun' with a t attached to it.
on the basis that you're going to have a central part of the zoo dedicated to reuniting the north & south, but like to give the impression that your guests have seen all the individual exhibits first, how about a safari ride/monorail/cable car from the last exhibit in each half to the central area of the island..........possibly the only way to get there?
O- as in road Li - as in Christopher Lee F - as in flamingo :p Ant- as in kinda the middle between aunt and ant. The emphasis is on the first 2 syllables, O-li and then fant. Hope this helps. :)
Love the aesthetic even if it physically pains me to have so man sunken trees (both for graphics load and for the elephants' comfort. they're fine tho) please please change the terrible education boards! XD they're still for the angry water horses
6:35 If elephant tastes good, that's how we protect them. Cows? Would be extinct if they weren't delicious. Chickens? Pigs? Same goes for them. If elephants and rhinos and polar bears are delicious, we farm them, and keep them around.
If you look at ADDO Elephant National Park the elephant's there live in very thick bushes and trees( I especially love ADDO and another park called Mountain Zebra National Park)
Ou poot He was one of the biggest bull elephants that lived in the Knysna forests and man hunters wanted to kill him but he survived till one day when he got to old he got shot but one of the lumberjack was there first before the hunter was at the site because one of the other bull elephants charged him so the lumberjack cutten of the tusk and buried it so that no one can find and sell ot btw his in a book "Kringe in 'n bos"
Soda is named "Läsk" in Sweden, and the closest thing we have to a nickname to it that I know of is "Läskeblask" wich was canned by Donald Duck comics this is rarly used thought. Most just say "Läsk" :D
Hi for the spring bokke can you put a someting cool because springbokke are the national animal of Africa even the rugby team is called the springbokke
hi Mr. bestInSlot can i ask you something ?? Where do you download Zoo tycoon 2 Ultimate Collection ?? Full with no virus !! Please help me !! I hope you answer my question !! TQ
i think making something educational about poaching is a very good idea BUT i think it would be more relevant for rhinos rather than elephants? obviously elephant poaching is a big issue but (from my experience living in south africa) there is a bigger emphasis on rhino poaching prevention than elephant poaching
Name a male Mbazo please .Named for Lynn van Rooyen who served in conservation for South African National Park for 39 years. (Mbazo meaning ‘axe’ refers to Lynn’s early years as a ranger where he was known to lead field patrols armed only with an axe)(Mbazo is a real elephant in the KNP)
1:08 "I was kinda just shoving things in and hoping for the best - just like my love life." Can you PLEASE stop catching me off guard like that? I nearly choked on my drink.
I heard that, and realized I hadn't heard BIS say that since god knows when. BIS is amazing. Love the build and the entire zoo.
My sister has always said that poachers deserve to get put in a cage and let the animals poach them. So it would be halarious if you put a little statue or a staff worker in a little cage and surround it by frequently poached African animal statues🤣🤣🤣 The idea kills me🤣🤣🤣
Yes I agree
Same
It must be done
That’s how it should be oop-
DO IT !!!!
I suggest Junk with a trunk as an alternate name for the elephants. Actually, this is what I will be calling elephants from now on and nothing else.
For one of the fun names, I suggest "Naked Mammoth"
Goddammit. For what it's worth, "D***head."
You realise that mammoths were 'naked' only woolly mammoths had fur. Most mammoths had no fur.
You should have hyenas in the graveyard, they fit (absolutely not because they are There in the lion king)
Razzze1001 yo that’ll be sick!
Those hyenas were just lion around while the zookeepers make them a cub sandwich.

Andrew ramirez u r right elephants live in much more harsh savaaaaaina environments😬😀😀
elephants actually live in quite densely grown areas. one of the two kinds of african elephants actually lives only in forests, the other kind also finds shelter in foliage, making them invisible when they want to be despite being incredibly huge so it's not too weird :)
Minor chaos is fun in hindsight~ The exhibit turned out lovely, too, even if you had to take a few plants out.
I saw their was a collection o Dinosaur skeletons on the steam workshop, including the Spinosaurus, Which could look really cool almost eroded out of a rock background, that could be a really cool non-animal display; I believe there is also a mammoth one that you could use for your elephant graveyard.
I'm preatty sure BIS said that he's not using workshop items for his parks aside from the letterfonts things
I have been watching this channel since the 2013 King Kong game play through.
Edit : That empty space in the corner, you could add a Staff building. Just a suggestion rather than blocking it off with a wall.
Red Mortonater that's a long time I was here since the primal carnage days.
I was here since Primal Carnage and far back in 2014
I would love it if Best in Slot replayed some of the classic games like the jaws and some of the other dinosaur games.
I think it wou,d be really cool to have a small museum with some exibit animals in side of it and some skeletons , an elephant graveyard , some African tribe pieces and maybe types of African plant . You could also have your poaching display there
"I just shove things in.

You cheeky bastard
Love the elephants here, along with their exhibit! I especially like how they have their own shower.
I'd cover the poaching display away from the elephant BestInSlot, have you seen Attenborough's soul-crushing documentaries where they stop and have a funeral every time
they see elephant bones!?!
It's tragic!!!!

Fair point!
@@VagrantGames Wow, Bestinslots second channel comments on his other channels video...

Did you just forget this zoo or something, almost 3 weeks without another episode
For the wall you could do like a timeline of the area where the elephants live! I think that would be cool
Always love your builds, especially your plant work!
We just say soda here in NY
Just love the fact that all the names are in Afrikaans !😍
(The English kind of throws off the pronunciation of "Olifant huis" but thats okay ! Atleast Im Afrikaans and know what you mean 😂)
I didn't even saw a Afrikaans game before.
It's soda. Always has been, always will be.
idk how people can call it anything else
Soft drink

To make a tall thin baobab tree you could put the tree in and turn it upside down so the leaves are hidden and then put another baobab on top of it facing up so you get a taller effect.
Maybe on the long walkway you can add benches, a mural of the Savanah, an info shop and a drink shop.
Hope you get back into this at some point!
I think that he should showcase the plant life in the exhibit on the long Gap in the elephant house, and each one gets and brief description. I just thought that since the exhibit has so much foliage, it would be cool to learn a little about each type of plant.
For a name do mud smuggler, Boom walkers, or possibly even worm nose.
The poacher idea is a good one I think it would look really cool
Your so good at making zoos if only I could visit them in real life
The wit is strong in this video
you’re almost there!!! Just roll the r👀😂

maybe on that wall you could make a short story about elephants or something
edit : or now thinking about it you could write some fun facts about them
Agreed
We call them "fizzy drinks". "Soft drinks" is fairly common as well

Loved this friend! Happy Wednesday to you!@
Amazing work!
You should make a little entrance in the dome so the Elephants have somewhere to go.
The formations remind me of the "Kraansberge" in SA(just a little extra something maybe 😂)
Marakele national park has them
I was wondering if you could upload the shelter but for the path, I tired doing one myself but it just looks silly to me
Die Olifante lyk majestieuse
You need to watch Okavango on Disney plus! Very similar to your zoo. Very green lots of water and wildlife and is surrounded by the Kalahari desert.
It’s tooo Greeeeeeennnn!!!! 😂
Gonna say the back of the elephant habitat look like big faces maybe make a story out of that
elephants really like to swim so you could make an under water viewing area. and I think you should name the female on Elly
I see the domes or buildings as lodging for staff for the wildlife park, I see this as kinda a cross between a zoo and wildlife park.
For the hyenas, you should do the elephant graveyard idea like in The Lion King
You should put all the names of the elephants on the empty wall inside the enclosure.
O- as in road
Li - as in Christopher Lee
F - as in flamingo :p
Ant- as in kinda the middle between aunt and ant.

In Denmark we call It soda to

its definitely soda
Did you know, the Africaans word Oliphaunt was used by Tolkien for his four-tusked war elephants in Lord of the Rings??
Oliphaunt is not Afrikaans it's Netherlands. Olifant is Afrikaans. And that little sentence can be read in english or Afrikaans and won't be wrong
Oliphaunt is actually the name the hobbits given them. They are actually called Mûmakil and we’re used by the Haradrim as beasts of war.
Its also the name of the african truck from Halo 3 ODST
