    This channel has crawled right into my favorites in no time. Stumbled across it about 6 months back watching you cook a steak and some fries at camp. Been a fan since. Cheers.

    The closest thing we have up here in the US (that I've heard of) is Bannock. I'd never heard of damper before I started watching some Aussie bush cooking on the tube. Course I'd never heard of jaffles either but once I saw the iron...aha! hobo pies!
    I baked up a couple dampers in the camp oven a while ago and they really are easy. I may try this one, too. Thanks Harry.

      Ahhhh bannock, just looked it up and it looks very similar, that's great to know.

    Will 100% give this a go. The missus isnt a massive fan of my damper, but i reckon this will change her mind.
    You should chuck all these ideas in cookbook, id buy it.

    Back in 2000 I walked from Sydney to Bundaberg. Damper was my staple.
    I made two every evening. One savoury one sweet. Baking powder, bread improver and milk powder your damper experience will jump through the roof.
    Cheeseburger damper however is next level. :) keep em coming.

    I can't help associating golden syrup and butter with damper.
    At first i was put off as it wasn't sweet and I couldn't wrap my head around the concept but a new pathway has been created in my brain. The connection was made after I saw the bacon and i had an immediate reminder of maple bacon and it all clicked together.

    damn it .. i'm hungry again, BTW in scotland i guess the closest we have is Bannock .. but i will make them both .. for research of course

    Certainly a new twist on plain old damper. I have an awesome boiled fruit cake recipe that I have been thinking about filming. Trouble is, if I film it, only half a dozen people will get to see it and it is a fantastic recipe. It is a bit rare to cook cake while camping but this one is easy and almost fool proof - I know because I can make it :) If I can dig it out I will send it to you and maybe you might like to include it on your channel.

    • @lastknownlocation8760
      @lastknownlocation8760 4 роки тому +2

      Fire to Fork true I guess but it gives a buffer. And then you wouldn’t need to put it on the heat on the bottom in the end to finish it..
      I use a stainless semi solid trivet (drilled with holes) and it comes out perfectly every time.
      I go about 85/15 % heat top and bottom
      Nice job though Harry
