I loved how mine worked with the GCM scale driveline at KNK. It's one of my favorite rigs now. However, I also missed one of the events so I think I was like 27 or something. I put leaf binders on my springs it stopped the axle wrap that breaks leafs. The the is a heavier rig but to get the springs to work right it has to be heavy. If you want some pics let me know if. It's a gr8 mod, haven't seen any mention of the trick in your vids

    • @scalebuildersguild

It's a brilliant idea... but magnets don't transfer 3s power very well. I remove the switch, and my lights are actually BRIGHTER? and no brown out... ever.

      Scale Builder's Guild 6.6v.... i got the BEC because of the brown out. Didn't help at all. I notice that there's a wear mark from the magnets touching each other. It's a tiny lil line on just the outside ends, as if the magnets in the base aren't level. I'm experimenting too.

      Going slow in small scale can be achieved with good throttle control. There's plenty of torque too. No need to have multiple transfer cases like an actual Marlin.

    Does anyone make those quick connect battery accessories for Tamiya connectors? I want one but don't really want to change out the connectors on all my rigs

    • @scalebuildersguild
      @scalebuildersguild  6 років тому

      He does not. Nothing says you couldn't snip the deans and make your own, but, Tamiya connectors do not allow for a lot of current. I'd consider upgrading to something a little more hobby grade.

    Hi Matt, I just finished painting my TF2 and was wondering if you do a final coat with TS clear, gloss, semi or matte. Thank you.

      It depends on the finish I'm looking for, but yes.

      @@scalebuildersguild Thank you for the quick reply. I have one that I put a silver under layer and wanted the scratches to show through. But my current body looks nice, that's what she said, I'm thinking semi gloss to protect it. The TS Dark blue looks great (TS-55). Have you ever used AS paints? I thinking these are aircraft colors but some look awesome. Thanks again!

    Sorry for all the questions pal but your build is a big inspiration for my build.
    When you removed the internal springs from the shocks did you re-fill the shocks with oil ?
    If so what weight and how much oil

    • @scalebuildersguild
      @scalebuildersguild  5 років тому +1

      Nope, no oil. Just whatever was in there to lubricate.

    Ok I'm a big Toyota fan really love your channel because I've been into rc for 30 years and have always liked the scale side of the hobby. So I'll ask a time tested question. Sc10 2 rtr or the marlin crawler rtr for class 1? Marlin is 500 scx10 is 350ish.. do you feel the price is worth the diference

    • @scalebuildersguild
      @scalebuildersguild  5 років тому

      There's more than just a price difference. Leafs on the TF2 require a lot more fiddling to make it work in C1, but the extra points in SORRCA are worth it. SCX10II will require a lot more work to get all the points.

    • @theclan4adventures
      @theclan4adventures 5 років тому

      @@scalebuildersguild thanks for the reply and after watching all your videos on the marlin crawler and tf2 chassis decided it was worth it and picked one up over another scx102.. after basic mods and wheeling it today with a few scx102's I'm really happy with it. Thanks for all the work you put in and for sharing your videos and builds with all of us. Hope to meet you in person one day and shake your hand

    where did you get that orange 4 runner body from????

  • @falkenphil557
    @falkenphil557 2 роки тому

    Thanks for all the good info Matt! Just bought a Marlin used, it’ll be my first personal experience with a tf2. Interested to see if the axles break as easily as I’ve seen others break them…
    On a side note, I always laugh at everyone reversing the front shackles, because from my 10+ years of 1/1 off-road we all reverse the front shackles how the Marlin comes out of box! 🤣 the reason why we do it is because the tire moves in the direction of the shackle, so if it’s on the front of the front of the truck and the rear of the rear of the truck, then when you go to push your tire into an obstacle the forward movement of the shackle will force your tire to move forwards as the leaf spring is compressed. Stock the tire moves backwards as you go to drive into a rock, which obviously is counter productive.
    I’m gonna leave it out it comes out of box because to me, it’s actually more scale to what I would see out in the woods here in the PNW.
    Love the video bro!
