"Elizabeth Warren dropped out of the presidential race following another round of disappointing finishes in primary contests across the country on Super Tuesday.
The Massachusetts senator, who centered her bid on a promise to wipe out corruption in Washington, announced her decision on a staff call Thursday morning and later held a news conference outside of her home in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
"I announced this morning that I am suspending my campaign for president," Warren told reporters.
She continued: "I say this with a deep sense of gratitude for every single person who got in this fight, every single person who tried out a new idea, every single person who just moved a little in their notion of what a President of the United States should look like."

Maybe it's my skewed European perspective but I don't see Warren as a progressive. She is a neoliberal-orientated, very market-friendly, capitalist-minded social democrat. Over here she would be seen as the most moderate, standard bearer of the centre, or left-leaning centre. All of her positions are basically establishment positions. What does it say about the political spectrum in the US if somebody who in most other democratic nations is considered a centrist is viewed there as a strong progressive?
This. I don't have the context of her banking bill that everybody harps on about, but as a European who only got into American politics after Trump got elected, I've seen nothing from Warren that I'd call Progressive either. I mean yeah, she chews out a banker/crook in a publicised political interrogation from time to time, but so does Corey Booker and Kamala Harris and Amy Klobuchar, and in every case nothing ever happens of it because like most political drama it's all show with no substance.
@@davidbates3057 I think the banking bill was her proposal to reintroduce Glass-Steagall, which had been repealled by Clinton in the 90s. But even liberal politicians like Macron pay at least some lip service to the seperation of commercial and investment banking over here, let alone so-called democratic parties like Labour or SPD and this is also a serious discussion at least among some conservatives parties.

I'm tired of the Warren bashing. Yes, she's made some pretty poor political choices regarding campaign direction, but she is still progressive. She needs to endorse Bernie now for maximum impact.

Damn - she can't have a minute? Buttigieg and Klobachar endorsed fast because Super Tuesday was the next day. Bloomberg endorsed Biden because he was NEVER going to endorse Sanders and Warren ate his lunch every time they met on the debate stage.

@@kimbleist oh c'mon - Buttigieg dropped out on Sunday and Klobachar dropped out on Monday. Both endorsed Biden on Monday. Warren was expected to just throw herself on her sword with hours notice? Even when she was expecting to possibly get some delegates of her own on Super Tuesday because she had a great debate performance on Friday? No one - not even this channel - expected Biden to do so well on Tuesday. It's really unfair folks thought she should sacrifice her campaign immediately because a block of other candidates - who even got debate a question about the fact that they might be diluting the moderate vote block - dropped out.

She has a snowball's chance in hell to get his VP spot. While Bernie does need to appoint a woman to stop at least some "sexist" attacks against him, and he also needs a woman of colour to stop some of the "white Bernie Bro" narrative and to win over some black support from Biden, he also needs somebody from the Midwest to not just win those states in the primary but more importantly in the generl election. Nina Turner and Rashida Tlaib both fit that bill. Plus, they didn't vote "present" on impeachment. Regardless what you might think about it - and I don't think that was the right thing to do, sorry - in order to win over "moderate" Democratic voters who feel uneasy about Bernie's talk about a revolution, he at the very least needs a VP who was 100% in on impeaching and removing Trump from office. That's not to mention that Clinton already started a Russia narrative about Gabbard and Sanders, which is another reason why Sanders can't pick her. And last but not least, he needs a VP that as strong on M4A as he is and Gabbard moved away from that position during her campaign.
The thing that I love about these two host is that that agree in principle but they don’t always agree on tactics and things like that. That’s the beauty of this country. If someone is always agreeing with you then they probably are fake af, and that goes for everyday life also

At the beginning of this race, I believed in Warren. But this race only showed me that she is nothing if not a common politician. And to me, politician isn't a good thing. I wanted her, and Sanders to run together. But I wouldn't wanna see her beside him as his VP anymore.

Ana is wrong about Warren needing to endorse right away. Warren endorsing Bernie in her driveway would have little effect. If Warren is going to endorse Bernie it has to be a spectacle like what Biden did. A big rally in primetime with all the networks covering it. Bernie and Warren take the stage together and the crowd goes nuts.

If Warren endorses Bernie now almost everything she did to attack Bernie would be forgiven and I would support her in everything she does going forward...as frustrating as this primary has done I have never forgotten what Warren has done for progressive movement

Not endorsing anyone is essentially an endorsement against Bernie. Even if she endorses him later it won't really help him because not endorsing him immediately speaks volumes about how she really feels about him.
If she's going to endorse Bernie it has to happen before Tuesday, otherwise, an endorsement for Bernie becomes useless

I really liked Warren, and considered her my first choice early in the campaign. But as much as I hate to say it, it is hard not to think that she is holding off until the establishment fix is complete and Biden has secured the majority of the delegates. Then she will "endorse" (aka bow her head to) Biden so that she can be coronated his pet progressive in an effort to bring in progressive support to the general election. It won't work, and all it will do is massively damage the progressive movement and re-elect Trump. I hope I am wrong, but it would be foolish to not see the writing on the wall.
Bernie needs to grow a set of balls and play harder.

College-educated women are a dominate part of Warren's base. At best, these people would probably split between Biden and Bernie, though it's more likely that most of them would support Biden. I say this as someone who voted for Bernie in 2016 and was planning to vote for Warren this time.
Bernie's campaign is based on turning out record numbers of younger voters, rather than appealing to moderates. That didn't seem to work for him on Super Tuesday and it's unlikely to to work for him in the next few primaries. It's still possible Bernie could win, but the odds are against him. This isn't my preference, mind you, it's only what I think is likely to happen.

To be fair Cenk, Warren has shown that she's a craven politician, even if progressive. I think she's thinking about number 1, rather than any progressive moment. She'll likely do what she did in 2016, wait to see the way of the wind and endorse whoever has a plurality/majority.

She's not gonna endorse him, but a lot of her former supporters are coming into the Sanders camp and we welcome them with open arms. Despite her wishy-washy positioning within the time of her campaign, we'll take her supoort as well, but I really don't think its going to happen. Im hopeful, but not holding my breath. We'll see what hapens, though, there could be some major upsets still to come for Biden!

About past Dem presidents: FDR's New Deal was slandered as "socialist" by 1930's Republicans. FDR wasn't a moderate, nor a radical, but a progressive. Kennedy ran as a progressive, and the Civil Rights Act during LBJ was certainly not moderate. These presidents implemented radical changes with progressive reforms.
But then, what does "moderate" even mean? "Do Nothing" Democrats? That's what Biden promised to his big donors.

In my opinion, painting him as centrist (or moderate) is a fraud.
I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to be wrong and have Warren support Sanders, but I will bet huge money, she will not. She wants a place at the Insider Democratic Table and endorsing Bernie won't get that for her. We shall see. (BTW, I also said that if she dropped out she would not endorse anyone immediately. There are still 191 delegates unassigned from Super Tuesday and Biden is currently ahead of Bernie 610 to 541. If they end up favoring Bernie enough to put him in the lead, Elizabeth Warren would be a fantastic messenger for that information.
It would be nice if the two progressives could unite, but it might not happen. Shame. I realize she doesn't have to endorse Bernie. I wish she would though.
If Warren decides to sit this one out, then I think it is game over for Bernie. If Super Tuesday taught us anything, it's that the establishment (no doubt led by Obama) are excellent at playing strategy. Bernie cannot win without some strategies of his own. He needs to sit down with Warren and promise her a place of power in his administration in exchange for her endorsement.

It would be incredibly irresponsible of her to NOT endorse someone during the primaries. And even if she wants to pitch herself as the “in between” candidate, many of her policies lean closer to Bernie’s vision so it only makes sense for her to endorse him as soon as possible

At first I liked her and was okay with supporting her if she became the nominee. I even liked the idea that there would be a "back-up" candidate. However after her campaign unraveled and she began to back track on her principles her true colors shone and I did not like them. She was more interested in being the first woman president rather than being a president.

Voters saw that(along with her other recent jabs at other candidates) and saw a woman who had lost focus on why she was even in the race, It became more about her being a woman rather than about the issues. Voters want answers, not mud slinging. We're tired of it. Once she started with that, Voters abandoned her in droves.
