In my opinion there should be a rule that if you once win the whole thing, then you couldn't take part later again. So Loreen should not even had been there. She already won that once in 2012.

@@oh2mpagreed. But then again im not mad even though it did hurt as Finn to lose. Because atleast as person I do adore Loreen, even though im not exactly fan of her kind of music. But she as person she is amazing and the girl sure can sign and perform and Euphoria is certainly one of the most legendary Eurovision songs
But ye the moment she won Melodifestivalen again it was clear she had bit unfair advantage going into this competition because she was ofc Eurovision fans favorite and she had the fame/reputation already

I don't usually much like the Finnish songs in Eurovision, but I like this one for some reason. Käärijä came second after Sweden's Loreen. The jury gave "only" 150 points to Finland compared to 340 for Sweden, so it was almost impossible for Finland to win after that, but the public overwhelmingly voted for Käärijä so in the end the gap wasn't that big. Many still think that Finland should have won. Because of the voting system, sometimes it happens that there is a big difference between what the public likes and how the jury votes. There were many countries where the jury didn't give any points at all to Käärijä.

Yeah, the jury definitely seem to treat it more as a singing competition than a song/performance competition. Really hope they'd do it like the finnish UMK votes go. 25% jury, 75% audience.
Käärijä absolutely overbooking his schedule and being throat/body tired during the finals didn't help, heard the jury performance didn't go too well in general, hard to say. He's definitely someone who exels in front of live crowd.

Käärijä calls this genre party metal.
No, he didn't win, but he came in second, and there was a bit of a controversy about that actually. Käärijä got more televote points than anyone else ever in the entire history of Eurovision, except for Ukraine in 2022. The only reason he didn't win was the fact that the juries gave Sweden such a lead in points that it was basically impossible for anyone else to catch up. A lot of voters were upset and felt it was unfair that it was basically a small number of juries who decided the winner and overruled their voting.
Käärijä has a lot of other good songs too, try It's Crazy It's Party or Huhhahhei :)

It came in 2nd, public favourite but the jury votes decided for a better singer.
I think the best performing Finnish entries like this one display the creativity that is born and allowed when every Finn is encouraged to be a unique individual, because we are a small nation and need everyone's input. For example, if every nation has to have 10 world-class specialist in a certain field, we need to encourage and help the 10 people in our country even interested in that field to be world-class. Maybe bad example, but you get the idea why we encourage people to be their best self.
Here you have an artist that believed in themselves and persevered during their self-made career without a music factory behind them. We are proud that he represents Finland, because he is true, he connects with his audience genuinely, touches people's hearts, he is just like any other very kind Finnish guy - and it turns out that in his field he is world-class. And so are the other people behind this song and performance.

That's right. You can't compare Loreen with Käärijä. But you should compare Loreen Tattoo with Mika Newton V Plenu.

But he won the public vote by a landslide, Sweden didn't come anywhere near close and got one of the worst public points for a winner. No 12 points and even less 10 points than Finland. Finland got the highest amount pf public votes after Ukraine which probably got a bump in points for obvious reasons.

Disclaimer: I do think Ukraine was very good and winner of course. But the amount of points was probably a bit higher due to the situation.

If we only should accept televote. We would have many different winners through out the years!
