    I'm going to go out on a limb here and bring up a square I wish was available. I'm just an amateur and I've found that it's always a fuss to maintain the center line on guitars I build. Since the center has to be drawn from the center of the neck pocket, it would be oh so cool to have a square that fit inside the neck pocket and extended down the guitar body. Like a T-square but instead of the T, it would have a neck pocket shape. If the straight edge was off side so that one edge was the center line then I could set it in the neck pocket and in one stroke confirm the center line. It would save us amateurs a lot fuss and uncertainty. Anyway, just an idea. :)

    Really enjoyed the video!! I’ve been following you for a long time, and have drawn considerable inspiration from you over the years so thank you for that, Tim!
    I’ve often wondered why no one makes a small bevel gauge that locks solid enough for metal layout. As part of my work, I’m often laying out from the end of a strip of steel and since there are no small bevel gauges, I’ve just knocked together a pair of tiny squares set at the most common angles I use. I know that there probably isn’t a huge demand for them or they would already exist, but just something I’ve often wished I had.
    I’ve also been toying with the idea of a physical template/template creation software to cut smaller boxes out of larger pieces of second-use cardboard. 100% of my orders have shipped in reclaimed boxes with all second-use packing materials except the tape. I’d love to be able to cut smaller shipping boxes out of some of the larger ones I’ve used so there’s not so much wasted space to have to pack out. It may not be possible, but I think it’s an interesting idea that I’ve returned to many times over the years.
    Anyway, thanks again for sharing what you do!

      I think the box idea is fantastic for sure. Like the letter/envelope kit we make. The trick would be to make it some sort of calculator/sliding system that can accomodate many box sizes. How small do you picture the bevel gauge needs to be?

    A stand alone string spacing gauge in acrylic maybe?

      @timsway  10 місяців тому +2

      I have an idea for a string spacing tool that I've been working on for a while, but I haven't quite cracked the code yet.

    Why are you not making the radius gauges out of hollow core door skins? That seems like the perfect use case. Super cheap and eco-friendly. It's just a reference tool, so it shouldn't see the kind of use where durability would be an issue.

      I wouldn't trust the edge to hold or be accurate enough. Drop it once and it's garbage, y'know?

      @@timsway Perhaps immersion into a quick drying epoxy would solve that problem?

    Any plans to get uk distribution? Maybe crimson guitars would be interested in stocking the centre Sqwayre finder?

    • @timsway
      @timsway  10 місяців тому +2

      I have thought about it but there are myriad reasons why I want direct control of all my sales, the main one being markup issues. I do ship everywhere in the world, but for me to stock them in other locations they'd have to raise the price or I would have to cut into my slim margin, so it starts to not make sense financially. I think it still works out better for everyone to pay international shipping. I have the same philosophy with my music, that you can download from NewPerspectivesMusic.com. If only 10 people download a track directly from me I make more money than 1,000,000+ streams on Spotify. I'm long beyond caring about being famous :)

    What about a tuner spacer and alignment tool?

    • @timsway
      @timsway  10 місяців тому +1

      Hmmm... there may be something to this. I made mdf templates for an inline 6 that accompanied my old diy kits. Maybe it's as simple as that, a 3x3, 4x2 and 6x1 template?

    • @LightBranches
      @LightBranches 10 місяців тому +1

      @@timsway that’s more or less what I was thinking, plus a flat side, to align the tuners. I don’t think it would need guide holes for mounting screws, as you can use the tuners to mark the headset.

    stay in the uk so get stuffed over import duty but i would def go with the plastic as an option, one thing, shouldnt it be 7.25"

    • @timsway
      @timsway  10 місяців тому

      yes, 7.25" is a common neck radius, too.

    Making tools out of aluminum and then saying the wax is eco friendly. Seems like greenwashing.

    • @timsway
      @timsway  10 місяців тому

      Hardly. We do what we can, where we can, when we can to make up for the times we can't, right?
