I never fail to be blown away by the beautiful childhood so many adopted children have been blessed with. But still, there is always an injury there. So happy Viktoria got to connect with her lovely birth mum and her family.

My kids (now in their 20's) were adopted from Volgograd, Russia as babies in 2001. I love seeing these videos and the re-connections made. One thing I'd really like would be if you would discuss the conditions the Russian birth parents were experiencing at the time they chose to or felt they had no other choice than to place their children in orphanages...how very rough life in Russia was for them. We in the west hear, "they were too poor to care for you", but I don't think our idea of poverty, with the social services and resources available to us here in the US and other 1st world nations, compares with what many Russians were experiencing in the 90's and early 2000's. My Russian kids are all-American kids...hearing a real-life description of what life was like for the birth families might go a long way toward helping them understand why a birth parent would feel the need to relinquish their child. Thanks and keep up the great work!!

Great story! I am from Russia and I am extremely glad that one of the children got a better fate than the thousands of others who remained in orphanages in Russia. Alex! Thanks for the hope and your incredibly needed work!

    Very blessed children
I believe the biological parents placed their children in the orphanages to try and protect them and to give them a chance at a better life.

Great story i am slowly working my way through watching these videos i think with work and life the last video's i saw you were on a roadtrip in Russia with Vera. You should be proud of the work you are doing Alex as these videos clearly show many adoptees didn't/don't know where to start looking . its really fascinating to see each adoptees take on living in New Zealand and some miss Russia more than others . The biggest shame from an outsider looking in is how far the two countries are apart and especially with the world at the minute some may only get to visit a few times at best . Keep up the good work supporting from the uk.

Interesting that Victoria’s birth mother says her birth father is not a nice man, saying don’t go and see him. Wonder if the birth mother has stated why the birth father is not nice? If she has not said why, then I would take what she says with a pinch of salt.

Let her know she needs to forgive herself. You have forgiven her, now she needs to forgive herself.
