Excellent job! I am a quilter and I teach free motion quilting. People are terrified of free motion quilting. And yet, you just jumped into this project with calm aplomb. Well done.
I truly love that you include all the behind the scenes real world aspects of your projects (child on your lap, completing a project while injured, your awesome husband helping you behind the scenes) its just so wholesome and grounded. I love watching and listening to your videos while working on my own projects. Beautiful job on this one!!!! ❤
As someone who works in a quilt shop, we swear by friction pens and use them in nearly all of our projects. Definitely test them on your material first, because occasionally they can leave marks once you hit it with the iron, but unless you stick your material in a freezer for an extended period of time, you're really not gonna see any issues, and even then you can just hit it with the iron again
Great job of the free motion quilting! It’s an art and yours looks great. And welcome to the 11 lb baby club. It’s the club no one actually sets out to join, but our babies are just so cute and kissable!!!
Congrats!!! 11 pounds, like wow! Your are amazing. You grew an 11 pound human while injured and yet you kept on working on your projects. Your smile says so much. It gave me grandmother happys to see you happy and hear little one noises.
What a roller coaster of emotions in one short video 🤯 Congratulations on a wonderful quilted petticoat, so sorry to hear about your foot, and a hale & hearty congratulations on the birth of your nearly-eleven-pound baby!!
Congratulations on your new bundle of joy. Like always, you are a mother a wife and a very creative women. I really appreciate you live a normal life and take us along with it. It’s not all fun and games and you don’t hide it. And yes I agree your next project should be a bubble wrap, you need it. But as they say, “mothers don’t get a brake unless they brake”. Take care and enjoy your new arrival.
Congratulations on a safe delivery of your son. I hope your daughters are enjoying having a little brother and that he quickly learns to sleep through most of the night. I also hope that your foot has healed. Oh my goodness! You've had a very challenging year. Kudos to you for free-motion quilting your petticoat. It came out really lovely. I hope you get to wear it, often, even without the bump, and hopefully without any injuries. Please thank your husband for helping with the filming. It's much appreciated!
Congratulations on your new baby boy, please thank your husband for helping out and your both amazing, I hope your foot is better now, and it's lovely to see that even though you were injured and pregnant you still didn't let it stop you making your beautiful petticoat. 💖
Congratulations on getting this lovely petticoat finished with so many challenges. You had more than your fair share during this process. Hopefully your foot is all nicely healed up. Congratulations on the arrival of your son.
It has been a crazy ride! I hope praying it will slow down soooon! I have the cast off now, but I've been told it could be up to 18 months before it is fully healed.
Wow that’s so beautiful! The free motion quilting is stunning! Congratulations on your new baby! Wow it took me three tries to get an 8 pounder! I only made that by 1 oz! Enjoy your baby take lots of cuddles as you already know they grow too fast!!
This is just gorgeous! It is almost a shame it's a petticoat and not an outer layer! And yes, please wrap yourself in bubble wrap and take care! Congrats on the new little guy!
This one can be worn as an outer layer too!!! If you check out the Pinterest board I linked in the description you can see some portraits of women showing off their quilted petticoats!
Congratulations on the birth of your newborn son and finishing your lovely quilted petticoat. Hope your foot heals quickly and hope you have time to rest. Wonderful episode. Thanks so much for sharing with us.
Congratulations on your baby boy!! My mom never fails to mention I was nearly 10lbs whenever baby weights come up, lol! 😅 The petticoat came out beautifully! I’m amazed at the amount of work you were able to do with injuries and being pregnant!!
Congratulations on your safe delivery. Well done! A lovely petticoat indeed and all that detail work too. Thank you for sharing, it's great to have you back.
Beautiful! Congratulations again! I hope you're healing up nicely and enjoying those baby snuggles. Love the color, and the pleating - everything turned out great.
Your petticoat turned out marvelously. I really enjoyed seeing how you came up with the quilting pattern, and how you put it on the fabric. I'm so happy for you. I hope you and all your family are doing well, and that your new little fella is thriving! I know recovering from having babies on the biggish side can take time (my big girl gave me a hernia 😖), and I can't imagine doing it while still mending your own broken bones. You're a rock star!!!
So glad to se the end result of the quilting-experiment. It turned out lovely! Also happy to get an update. Thought about it being a long time since your last upplode just about half an hour before you posted this, and figured it was bc of the baby and that it would probably be a while. Am (very selfishly) happy that I was wrong, as this is one of my most beloved channels here on the youtubes. Your videos are always so pleasant, amiable, and relatable, and you have so often inspired me to try out new things.
First of all congratulations on yours baby boy. You will love having a boy. They give the best snuggles. Sorry to say but you will also be hearing fart jokes for the rest of your life now. I have 4 boys myself and only one girl. Anyways you were a bison if beauty sitting on your chair rocking your baby bump while hand stitching your hem in place. Made me miss those days. My youngest will be 7 in December so I think my baby days are done. I absolutely love how yours petticoat came out. Its just beautiful. You looked gorgeous with it on. Its a shame you didn't get more shots of it before baby came into the world. But her is here and healthy and that's all that's what matters.
Congratulations on the birth of your son 💙💙💙and quite a mammoth task to complete this project while pregnant ánd injured. You poor thing! All my love and a speedy recovery 😘😘😘
Thank you. Such great timing. Last spring I bought a HANDSTITCHED (gasp) quilt which was so loved it was washed until threadbare. At resale. For $9.99USD. I neeed to honor the creator. Maybe I can make it into a petticoat. Mommy taught me so many ways to repair things. I may do applique on the worn areas.
What a sweet video 😊 I adore that you have your little one in the background, I love the noises and your sweet sentiments about having your baby here instead of pictures 😊 love love LOVE all the momma-ing
I have two vintage machines in cabinets with knee controls. Once you get used to it, those are really easy to use those instead of a foot control. I’ve seen the treadles used for FMQ and want to try that as well. Congrats on your new baby! Enjoy him, eat him up with love! It goes by so fast. And then they’re 30! And I’m still 36, lol. Okay, maybe not.
Marika! Congratulations on the birth of your son! Wow he's a big one 😁🇨🇦 When you read the word stout I didn't think that was a good word as I thought you were pregnant. You're quite tall too aren't you? But I know what you mean. I haven't seem your videos in awhile ( stuck on horse videos for sanity reasons lol) But now your quilting! And longarm at that! Terrific 👍 💗 The pattern you designed looks beautiful 😍. Those notchers are a must for pattern makers. And in other news ...so sorry about your broken foot! 😥 did you cry like crazy, I know that pain...several times. Take care of yourself, we want you creating for a long time 💖🙏🕊🍁
Congratulations! The petticoat looks wonderful. If you make a bubble wrap outfit, I'll happily watch the video. I need one too with how clumsy I am... 😅
congrats for your beautiful baby boy. I am so happy for you and your loving family. I just enjoyed your video so much and I am so glad your petticoat turned out so well. Love from Mississauga... 🥰🤗
I LOVE this SO much! It's so pretty! I wish I could make one. It looks so comforting and soft and warm. I feel like I'd actually want to go out in it on cold days ❄ Well done completing it and the video with all the challenges you've had! And congratulations on your little boy! 🥳
Good morning! Your petticoat turned out just beautifully! The feather design is my favourite as well and if I had something this lovely in my closet I surely would not want to layer plain skirts over it. Congratulations on the birth of your son.
Cool 🥰. Although when I make a petticoat I don’t cut them into panels just to sew them back together. I made a quilted petticoat(hand sewn) for my doll (a 1/3 BJD) which was a lot of work but worth it🤗
Hi I just found you ,and within the first 5 minutes, I have subscribed.,oh my I have a feast of catching up to do ,perfect . TINY BABY NOISES! Congratulations on your little addition, I hope everything is going smoothly for your recovery.
Thank you so much!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who loved the little baby noises :-) Never apologize for those! TBH, I wouldn't mind more of them, not less 😅❤️👶❤️

After fifty years of sewing I always say it’s better to have too much fabric than too little!!
100000% agree!!!
You can trim away the extra, but it's hard to work around not having enough fabric
