In an interview a while back, Vassell said he watches a lot of Devin Booker tape, and with that in mind, you can really see the Booker in Vassell's play-style
I've been noticing this for a minute. While KJ may be more popular, I've always thought Devin was our best overall player last season even in limited time. Hopefully he stays healthy this year. Would love to see a full season of him especially now with Victor in the fold.
Mikal looks good because he has the spotlight on him when he plays in Phoenix but if you watch closely Vassell has the higher ceiling comparable to Jalen Brown.
@@nicholasrobinson2501 i didnt say vasell didnt have a higher ceiling i think he does as an offensive player but as a 2 way player i feel like mikal will likely stay better
This man is the most efficient scorer that the Spurs have and has only ever needed time on the court. I saw 1 person say that on a contending team he averages 19, he's already there and is only getting better the game has definitely slowed for him.
He and Malaki are super efficient and, even without Wemby, they would be a lock for a combined 35 points per game next year. Excited to see how much more efficient they will be once Wemby, Bassey, and Collins become our regular stretch 5 contributors. The spacing for Vassell and others will improve greatly, imo.
New sub here! Your video is the proof of what my intuition was already telling me. In fact I've been saying that Vassell can have a higher ceiling than Keldon Johnson. To me he is already a more impactful player. Even if Vassell doesn't have a big scoring game, he can still make a big difference in the game. Because of his movement, I think he should start at the 2 (Jones - Vassell - Socham - Wemby - ZCollins) The best scores are those that make difficult shots look easy and complicated things look simple... consistently.
Very much possible, but we will likely also need Keldon Johnson on the team, so let's not play the player comparison game, it's a team sport, after all.
@@nkrumansantos1794 Interestingly, so do I - well, I think that would be Keldon's floor, he is still not even 24 yet and clearly has lots of room to develope left. If he can accept that role anywhere, it would in a title contending Spurs team under Pop (or at least clearly still in a system developed by Pop before passing the baton to another coach).
First off thanks for watching and commenting bro 🙏 Honestly… I think that lineup would work because collins and Wemby can both stretch the floor. I think the question just is would Keldon accept that role? Idk. Sometimes these young guys egos are too fragile, but I do think that Keldon would benefit from slightly less usage. It’s not that he’s bad by any means but I do think that Vassell possess a little more and overall has higher upside

@@Claudiosg04 With all due respect, you're getting a 2nd team All-NBA guy who is 26 for role players. Don't let his playoff showing with an injured hand deceive you
@@connor8627 with all due respect, 1) we don't want the trade lol first and foremost. 2) if they are a bunch of roleplayers then why do you want them. Lol go get the star you want and leave our role players for us 3) Jaylen Brown is really good but not good enough to package all of our young talent for. Also Sochan has shown so much promise and we don't even know the limits of how good he can get. Really like devins game but he will never be an all star in the nba. 10-15 years ago maybe a year he sneaks in, injury reserve backup maybe then. Not in This nba and not even the nba the last couple years. What used to be an all stars numbers and the shallower depth at each position (versus now and recently) is now the high end role player/starter and going forward the gap and depth just.get larger
I totally get what you’re saying bro the league talent is at an all time high and it is very difficult to be an all star. But I legitimately think peak Vassell can average all star numbers. And while the spurs are a ways away right now I think with this core and coaching staff 3 years or so from now this spurs team can be a very good. Do you think something like 24/25 a game, with a couple helpers, good defense and a good record is out of the picture for him in his prime?
@@malagadrivehoops6634 on a contending teams, he averages 19. Solid creator of the dribble but nothing screams all star. Think the most efficient way for him to produce on a contending team is working as a motion outside shooter & once teams start closing hard on him, then he can get into those 1 or 2 dribble pull ups but I don’t see him being the main shot creator on a contending team

You can tell he learned a lot from Demar that's why he's so good at mid range shots now. He is a better Mikal Bridges in my opinion
