I've always looked at him as human from the start, all I saw was him actually opening up to one of the people he truly trust. That's exactly the same as I would've done. He deserves the credit he gets for his acting, it made it feel as if I wasn't even seeing Pedro Pascal but Joel Miller himself in that scene with his brother. Pedro Pascal's acting is exceptional, it really draws you in and makes you forget that you know these actors already. That's the epitome and purpose of acting entirely. What a performance
I think the game trusted its players a little more to look beyond the surface (and based on some of the comment arguments I've seen, maybe not universally perceived). Not complaining; it just makes sense for the scale of the audience shift.
Yes it was a panic/anxiety attack. There are about 30 different symptoms that you can have. I get them and the symptoms I get are feels like my heart is pounding so hard it's going to rip out of my chest, it feels hard to breath, my hands and feet go numb, it feels as if there is something crawling inside of the back of my skull and my vision goes blurred. To relieve one I need darkness and silence and to concentrate on my breathing. Otherwise it will last longer. The longest one has lasted for me is 30 minutes. As with a lot of mental illnesses they are debilitating.
Everyone did such a fantastic job with this episode. Pedro seeing "his daughter" & how he could very well be a grandpa was so damn good. The editing and flashbacks to Nico Parker got me all emotional...proving again how fucking good Nico was as Sarah. The writing and adaptation from the game is amazing. They know when to lean into the actual gameplay of the game and when it's not necessary & the story is more important.
Considering just how much, and how consistently, the series has put Magy (and so many viewers) through an emotional wringer throughout, it's a superb tribute to the way the show has been crafted altogether.
Pedro Pascal deserves a freaking Oscar for the scene when he was opening up to Tommy about everything it was beautifully written scene way better than the video game version I prefer this over the video game version ♥️
I love watching people who didn't play the game watch this series, because I wonder what reaction I would've have if I was learning this story for the first time.
I don’t think this show is going to let you or anyone else catch their breath for even one episode. This has been one hell of a rollercoaster of a show so far and I can’t wait to see what happens next after this ending. Great episode, great reaction as always. Thank You Magy.
This is why this has been the only first-person shooter video game that I like. There are so many video games out there where you can just turn off your feelings and become a killing machine, shooting and killing you way into getting better and better at such violence with no issues, but this game was different. It was created so that you feel remorse for killing, especially the NPCs you don't have to kill. (like most of the dogs) This world is still so far fetched but it to me allows me to feel the way I would feel if this were to really take place. to many of us, life is worth something and to just kill with no remorse is not in any way desirable.
🎶I'm taking a ride with my best friend I hope he never lets me down again He knows where he's taking me Taking me where I want to be I'm taking a ride with my best friend...🎶
Magy, you don't have to worry about Joel and Ellie...they do great until they are killed by the whispers in the Walking Dead crossover 😉😉😉 That's actually how the world is saved. The Walkers and Infected fight and destroy each other. I hear that for season 3, they're planning for the Night King to show up and raise them all from the dead.
You touched on an important thematic difference between the dog and the machine they used in Boston. The machine is soulless and thus couldn’t tell the difference between ellie and the infected. The dog is alive, the dog can feel, the dog knew the difference. Boston, under FEDRA, was like a cold soulless machine and you couldn’t trust anyone there; Jackson is a place where people trust people and that’s why it’s a paradise which is why they use the dog and not the machine. The episode is about trust. The husband trusts his wife in the cabin. The dog trusts Ellie. Joel trusts his brother and confesses he fears Ellie can’t trust him. Ellie trusts Joel anyway. Tommy’s wife warns Ellie about who you trust.
The dog is probably pretty good at picking out infected people, too. Remember Mercy the dog of the Adler family in episode 1? She knew something was up with grandma before the infection actually took over her brain completely
15:27 yeah that’s some Hollywood stuff that Tara wasn’t having to cut matts/dreads out of Ellie’s hair. She hasn’t showered in months and doesn’t have a comb or brush on the travel
3 reasons: 1 - we have never seen her use one. 2 - such an item would be rare in a world that doesnt have machines making them anymore (most factories and manufacturing are history, and anything reclaimed would be used for survival items like food, tools or weapons. hygene products would be low priority) 3 - even if they picked up something from Alan and Frank's house, they had to abandon all their supplies when they arrived at Kansas City and lost their truck.
@@tinman3747 fine Bill and Frank. my bad, i got that wrong. However, that still doesn't disprove my point about her never actually using one on screen in a world where such items would be rare
The version of "Never Let Me Down," which I'm sure you noticed was a cover of the original Depeche Mode song at the end of episode 1, was performed by the creator's daughter, Jessica Mazin. It was the perfect choice for the moment.... Ellie did feel safe as houses.... until the attack. Thank you Magy for your reactions. I am looking forward to the next (potentially last) episode, depending on if Joel is dead or not.
They’ve been having some great covers for the credits, the new order cover of their song true faith by lotte kestner earlier in the season was fantastic too. I didn’t know Mazin’s daughter was singing the Depeche Mode cover, she sounded great.
Hi Magy , First you are so pretty🌸, I really love your reaction to this Episode like you're crying and laughing Was the best and glad Joel found his brother and hopefully joel's OK next episode.
Having a hard time imaging Joel as a sheep farmer 😂😂🤯 The dog definitely should have smelled that Ellie's infected that bit was odd but cute Great reaction Magy 😃👍
depends what the dog reacts to. The device probably measures anti bodies or the fungus cells => Ellie positive because she has them. The dog may smell some other change in body odour because of the infection. He did growls at first so smelled something but as she is without symptoms the dog did not smell the same thing as with normal infected.
HOW, HOW DOES THIS SHOW KEEP GETTING BETTER EVERY EPISODE?!?! If both Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey are not nominated for best actor and actress at the next awards season WE RAMPAGE!! This was perhaps my most anticipated episode of the season because it has THE SCENE of Joel and Ellie in the bedroom and I wanted to see more of Jackson. But my god, I didn’t think anything could make me cry more than I did in episode 3 with Bill and Frank, and yet they did it! The scenes of Joel clutching his heart and looking up to see a young woman who almost looks like Sarah, and when he was telling Tommy the truth that he believed that he was going to fail Ellie and get her killed. God I was crying so damn hard, and then when we got to THE SCENE in bedroom I was a complete mess.😭😭😭😭
You're giving me reasons to play TLOU again. Which is great b/c I don't remember what it is you are describing. I might remember when I watch this episode. As for E3. It was background noise for me.
I love the fact that Magy is seriously trying to compute this ending with such fervor. She is having a serious inner dialogue trying to make this make sense. I sometimes feel these reaction channels are a little fabricated, but her reaction seems very genuine to me. Which makes me enjoy it that much more. Nice job.
Hey magy !❤️.wow another Rollercoaster of emotions as i definitely enjoyed the episode and as always your reactions makes everything better!💯👍. I like how joel was able to open about how he really felt and expressed himself for the first time ,something he felt he couldn't do because he don't want to worry elle considering he feels responsible for her and wants to protect her.
yea poor Joel what a horrible way to go, splintered bat to the abdomen 😔 I suppose it could he worse I mean imagine if it was a golf club to the head 😨 🤢

Graham Green!. My native brother and sister, I love how you laugh at her sarcasm and attitude. Magy can I recommend a movie? 1992 ThunderHeart, staring Val Kilmar & Graham Green.
Magy going back and forth in her mind over Joel's possible death is part of the legacy of Game of Thrones. Before G.O.T. we would have never questioned Joel's survival as one of the two main characters, now.....
You are so lucky to watch this blind. Please avoid spoilers, tempting as they may be. I love your reactions. Please, no matter what happens, Please keep watching the show.
Hello Miss Magy ! Hopefully the week treats you well 👍😁🌞 Still Subscribed, like button 🔘 has been Illuminated 😁 If I offer you A suggestion for A movie you might like to try Arnold Schwarzenegger 's Conan the Barbarian !!! Not only for the Epic Sound Track but the Amazing Action !!!
I was thinking wouldn't it be funny if there was a sudden mid-season hiatus of several months before the next episode after this cliff hanger? They did that with LOST season 3 when episode 6 ended on a dramatic cliff hanger. Episode 7 came 4 months later. Is Joel dead? Considering how the series keeps killing off major characters so easily (not unlike a certain other HBO show) its a possibility. Even The Walking Dead killed off major characters. Though TWD had "faked" some deaths in the series at times. But the timing of the end of this episode is obviously made to keep you wondering. And we know its not always following the game scene by scene. OTOH there would be very predictable riots in the streets if our worst fears came true about this 6th episode.
Harsh, but Tommy isn't wrong though. Time pretty much stopped for Joel when he lost Sarah all those years ago just like the broken watch he still wears as a reminder.
Damn... This show is killing me!
That scene where Joel is opening up with Tommy is heartbreakingly beautiful.
Pedro deserves an award.
This show and its actors will absolutely win many major awards... Unless something even better comes out this year, it feels like a homerun.
Joel keeps delivering phenomenal performance his speech to Tommy was so well done and a welcome change from the game to make him more human
"I'm failing in my sleep." Ouch. Outstanding acting chops.
I've always looked at him as human from the start, all I saw was him actually opening up to one of the people he truly trust. That's exactly the same as I would've done.
