Yeah it was. I'm a pies fan and there was so many soft frees paid and non calls not given for both sides that it was a joke. It's not an excuse for Essendon losing because of our frees were in the thick of play and we would deliver high balls in our 50 where Hurley and Hooker would intercept every ball coming in.
Just Saiyan it did play a big affect though if the umpiring wasn’t like that Essendon could have won. It was a decent game until the umpires just started throwing free kicks around. 🎽
I wouldn't say big, minor affect at best. Essendon was leading at half time whilst Collingwood dominated free kick count. After half time, Essendon won the free kick count and pies won. Nothing much more is needed to be said.

As a Richmond supporter I hate Collingwood, but isn’t it great to have two big Victorian teams up the top of the ladder instead of boring inbred interstate teams. Love it
You only need eyes and half a brain to know that that umpiring was horrific to say the least. But it didn't decide the game, just made it difficult to watch.
Anybody who knows anything about footy should know that collingwood aren’t as good as people think, they have only beaten 2 teams in the top 8 and they were placed 7,8. They have had 3 games outside of Victoria. And had the easiest run in this season, when they actually beat a good side then good on them.
HaydosAmigos why at the start of the season were people saying that we had the hardest run? they’ve beaten the bottom teams who are bottom currently but in the first 10 rounds most of them would have been close to the 8, we finished 13th last year so its expected that we had an easy draw, richmond were the same position as us last year but they still went great, collingwood has one of the bets defences in the league and we basically didn’t score for 2nd and third quarter scoring not even 4 goals then in last quarter kicked 5 and still won the game
I mean they’ve won their like past 7 games and they’re second on the ladder at a late stage in the season, so I think it’s normal to think they’re somewhat a chance
Pies are still second on the ladder despite having the most injuries of any club this season. As long as they can prevent more injuries testing their depth further, they've got the best chance of contesting with Richmond, especially with players coming back.
We should be getting 7 players back from injury in the next 2-3 weeks as well as Ben Reid in about 5 weeks, yes it's been an easy run, but now is our time to prove that we can hang with the best and we might be able to pull off some upsets.
The umpires were atrocious in general. Whilst Essendon got the shorter end of the stick, don't pretend the pies were somehow in the umps favour. Especially towards the second half, collingwood got plenty of crap decisions against their way too.
It was a very entertaining game and even though I go for Essendon it was a good win by Collingwood.
