The street version includes percussion. The two church versions include strings.Both are worth watching (studio vs church acoustics).
The street and the first church version might both use the same studio vocal track. Interesting is hearing the different perceptions by changing the instrumentals.

Angelina's doesn't exactly have fans. We've watched since she was just a wee babe and we've become her adoptive parents/grandparents, cheering every accomplishment and hope for the future. We're proud of every new release as if we had something to do with us.
I have to admit that when I drove up to the Westgate Hotel in Las Vegas and saw her name and picture in lights it was a proud moment.

My brother picked me up at the airport and on the way home he asked me if I ever heard of Angelina Jordan. I said no I haven’t. He told me I should check her out. I did ,and now I don’t listen to anyone else because everyone else is just not as good. I am so proud of her that I cry every time I hear her sing. She is such a sweetheart with a big heart ❤️

Have you seen her Bohemian Rhapsody in AGT? She was only 13 then. It’s insane!
The most popular video of that performance has (July 2024) 104 million views. There are another 30 million views in other edits, plus a huge number of reaction views.
The only reason she isn’t a household name is because she has an abundance of class and an amazing family that looks out for her well-being, all in good time. I love that her family didn’t let her sell her soul to the music industry and just let her find her way and do her thing with style. Her voice to me is the best I’ve ever heard.
We angels say, Angelina doesn’t cover songs, she uncovers them. Shows their true meaning as the composer intended them to be.

She studied jazz since she was a toddler so you’re correct that she chooses her vowels and consonants purely for the sound and feeling it creates. And for me, she nails it. Many people would suggest starting with her performances on Norway's Got Talent, but she sang What A Difference A Day Makes shortly afterward, and she sings it wonderfully, so don't miss that one.There really is no way you can go wrong with Angelina. Some recordings are fan videos made with a phone and are of poor quantity audio. These are still things that Angels want to see, but I'm not sure that they are how I would introduce someone to her. She made several appearances on Norwegian TV after she won NGT, and these are professionally produced recordings that offer more clarity in hearing her early capabilities. Of course the recordings made by Republic Records when she was 14 are excellent but there are still real gems that her grandmother recorded of her singing at home with just a guitarist, and these are very good recordings of her at 12 years of age. I do really love the studio recording of her at six, but this is really something that people who are already fans of Angelina would want to see as opposed to what would be more interesting to someone who has never heard of her IMO. There are several long time Angels who will offer pre-selected lists intended to introduce her to new listeners, and these may be good places to start. I have really enjoyed your reviews of Angelina so far and look forward to many more! You guys are great! My own discovery of Angelina has been a wonderful experience, and I believe you will enjoy discovering her growth as an artist as well. She is just fantastic both as a person and as a vocalist. Surprisingly this version is the one that least showcases her talent. There is a live version of her in a London church (not the produced one in the same church) that just is quintessential Angelina. Angelina live is astonishingly good.
Angelina emotes better than any singer that I have ever experienced. Ever. She is the ultimate storyteller. You don't just listen to her songs... You FEEL them, deep. Utterly amazing and unprecidented - for me.

Her voice sounds expensive ... love it! Trust me, I've heard countless descriptive words for Angelina's voice, and this is the first time for expensive. You have just barely scratched the surface with her abilities. Angelina will thrill and mesmerize you time after time, at any age and in any genre.
A quick word about the Angels. We are fiercely loyal to Angelina, many of us having watched her in real time as she grew up over the past 10 years or so. Never Forget.....English IS NOT Angelina's first language.....she now INTENTIONALLY sings with an accent.
Any accent she may have had she lost a long time ago. Even in the pre performance interview on The View when she was 8, she really didn’t have an accent.

Following something you said, if I were a lyricist, I’d want Angelina to sing my song. She sings to each of us individually-even in songs like this one which I don’t particularly like.
Bohemian Rhapsody-possibly the best live performance I’ve ever heard-should be your next. Her incredible arrangement, her voice, her presence-all at 13 years old. (New reactors frequently say they want to hear Angelina chronologically. That just doesn’t work because there are dozens and dozens of amazing performances before her teen years-and you’ll want to hear her later work).

When Angelina was asked by an interviewer at the Ivors Awards how she approached the reinterpretation of this song, her response was: "When I do covers, I love to make it my own, to do an rendition of it basically."
As for modifying vowels, dropping consonants, changing whole words, not finishing sentences - she is often criticised for this (no "clean" lyrics) - but using these tools from the Jazz singers toolkit really helps to create her own magic. She's also great in using empty space. It is said she learned phrasing from Sinatra, which he was the master. Plus as Frank once said "I never let a song get in the way of my storytelling" and she sticks to that - she's a great storyteller already (you guys remember her "Suspicious minds" rendition at age 16?).
As for suggestions, that's a hard task for 90 minutes ain't long - you can include 18 songs, maybe 20. Way to less.

The genius in this production is in realizing when Bruce Springsteen did it in his 'Academy Award' winning
video for 'Streets of Philadelphia', the impact it had 'worldwide' was huge. Angelina emulates what Bruce did,
but whereas he did it in monotone 'talking' form, Angelina adds power replies throughout her walking thru the
streets rendition.

My suggestion for a view to the past is her first time in public, the audition of NGT. Her rendition of Gloomy Sunday, the notorious Song of Billie holiday was a big surprise and started her career train 🚂 7y old girl 🎉
If you want an example of just what a prodigy/genius she is I think you would be well served to go back to one of her first visits to the studio at age 6/7 when she sang “I Who Have Nothing” and then hit the 4 NGT videos. Those show her obvious growth in the span of a year or so. Be sure to get the longer NGT videos with subtitles so you can read the judges comments. Those videos will give you a foundation of just how special this girl is. She is a musical force of nature. From there, it’s anything goes.
I’m a Filipino fan of yours here in SoCal but I’m also a fan of Angelina since I first heard her sing Bohemian Rhapsody at a singing contest I forgot what it was. She has her own style and a unique quality to her powerful voice… just ❤️her so much. America is missing on many talents around the world , I wish the American music industry will have an awakening soon. We’re the lucky ones to have known so many amazing artists around the world because our eyes are always open but I really believe these artists’ gifts need to be heard by 8 billion people.

All of her arrangements are incredible and unique. My absolute favorite arrangement is what she did with Bohemian Rapsody. To be able to take an over 6 min song, reduce it to less than 3 mins and allow you, the listener, to honor the original with a new appreciation. It's stunning.
I think this song really showed the range she has in terms of what she can do vocally. The end part is just pure pop sparkle bliss. We all know she can do a great vocal fry, but it is nice to see that side of her too.

Angelina has , I think seven versions of this song with with Toby and they're actually even more wonderful to watch. As you have already mentioned. I would suggest that you get a chance to watch her other videos called "Bad Valentine" with Toby Gat live which is absolutely fantastic that will become a single next month and also "Unchained Melody " from her live performance at the Nobel Peace prize last December in Oslo, Norway at 17. She demonstrated a fantastic emotional connection to that song that is one of her best live performances ever with the world famous Kork orchestra from Norway. More importantly, to get the real bang for your dollar, I would suggest two of her earlier performances. Both live with an orchestra called "Loving You" and " . It's a man's world" when she was only 11 on stage. It is absolutely mind-blowing like"I Put a Spell on You." Angelina at a young young age was absolutely overwhelmingly powerful and delivered vocally dynamic performances ! . Guys keep posting. You've got 300 videos to go and I'm glad that you're on this journey with us. A recent commenter called AJ's use of vibrato through vocal fry "frybrato" -- and I think that's absolutely correct!
She is a master story teller.
Both covers of this by Angelina are glorious but I prefer the stripped down version Piano Diaries. That version lets her voice absolutely shine. Thanks to Toby for asking her to sing this cover of his song for his Piano Diaries album. Toby is quoted saying, “Working with Angelina has been nothing short of inspiring. Her ability to channel profound emotion through her voice adds a whole new depth to the song.” They are also working on other songs for AJ. This will be huge for her.

Your analysis is spot on. Angelina plays with the words. They are both means of conveying meaning and emotion for her, and they are sounds to be sung. There are many examples of it in her other songs. Perhaps she does this because English is not her first language. Or she just is a musical genius from another galaxy.

Fantastic reaction, thanks Richard and Johnny. This is a more rhythmic, thanks to the percussion, and less urgent version of the other in the cathedral, with a walk in an urban setting, probably more suited to younger listeners and with city overtones. It's however another wonderful rereading of this song, so sweet and powerful at the same time, her voice seems to fill the streets she travels. Angelina always manages to bring the soul of the songs to life. Also listen to the new song just released by Angelina and Toby Gad, "Bad Valentine", it's pure and beautiful power! 💛🧡❤

How this cover came about: Producer, musician, songwriter Toby Gad recently released an album (May) called Piano Diaries which includes reworkings of songs that he co-wrote. He asked several different artists to provide vocals on these new versions for his album.
Angelina was asked to provide the vocals for this song. Two versions were released that use the same vocal track however with different instrumentation. There is this version with more contemporary instrumentation and a version with more stripped down instrumentation which allows you to hear the details in her performance more clearly.
Prior to this release and since, she and Toby have performed the song live at least 5 times.
Toby says that Angelina is very inspiring so they are actually working on new material also.
The three songs she sang at AGT are all phenomenal … at 13 years old!

Why? Why does she make those choices? Modifying vowels, dropping consonants, everything else; and they sound good? I decided long ago that Angelina’s brain works with music the reverse of everyone else. We hear a series of sounds and our brain decides, “does it sound better or worse”, but Angelina’s seems to just stream out what sounds better. Because she did this from such an early age, I believe it’s subconscious; a musical savant without the social deficits.
It's because she is a musical genius... can't really understand how she does it, just have to enjoy it.. and indeed the "lack of social deficits" goes against the stereotype of a genius (but it is just a stereotype )

Hi guys, yes the omission of consonants is due to her jazz background, and you're right, she is a godsend for every sound engineer because she doesn't use and doesn't need autotune, for me she is the best singer in the world right now and Tony Gad has asked her for this and other songs, one song that hasn't been released yet can be heard here on UA-cam Live with his permission, you just have to search for the song "Bad Valentine"

Another thing you’ll notice about Angelina is that on repeated parts of a song she usually won’t do them the same way each time. For example on her Norways Got Talent performance of Bang Bang at age 8, each “bang bang” was slightly different
