The Carol Burnett Show is iconic. It had the best guests, the costume design was off the charts (Bob Mackie), and the humor was actually clean. Seriously the best comedic show ever. "The Dentist" sketch is known as the best in comedy. Harvey Korman peed his pants after all. 😆 Tim Conway was always trying to break him, as you can see. He would act differently in rehearsal and switch it up during the show.

I always preferred the Veterinarian house call. Tim was the husband. Harvey Corman was the Vet and Carol was the wife. Tim ended up getting the shot intended for the dog. Let your imagination run wild with this.

Tim was the star. What made him so hilarious was that he did a lot of improv which caught everyone off guard & made them crack up laughing. It was also filmed in front of a live audience.

Tim Conway (the "old" man) and Harvey Korman (the tall one) were excellent with their comedy routines. I watched the Carol Burnett Show for it's entertainment, but mostly to watch these two guys doing their comedy skits. My favorite is The Dentist. Harvey had such a hard time keeping a straight face. When Tim got started, Harvey would always end up laughing. The show was great entertainment for the whole family. Besides Carol, Tim, and Harvey, Vickie Lawrence later joined the cast.

This was a great show that I would look forward to each week. The main cast was Carol, Tim, Harvey and Vicki. I always thought Vicki Lawrence look like she could be Carol's little sister. Her main character was Mama. She was Carol's bitter and crochety old mama. She does a great job with it. Lot of times they had guest to joined them. One of the main ones was a guy named Lyle Waggoner. He was tall, dark and handsome. All the ladies went nuts for him. Love your reactions, keep up the great work.

I was in high school when Carol Burnett was on the air. I have seen all of the shows when it was on the air. I laugh just as much when I see them now. I am 65 years old now. Wow, how time flies. Tim would ad lib sometime to see how to get his cast mates off script. They never knew what he was going to do.

Growing up this was a huge part of our family time. Every week my parents, my siblings and I would gather in front of the TV with a big bowl of popcorn and watch the Carol Burnett Show. We would roar with laughter and just enjoy that time together. Tim Conway and Harvey Korman were always in a constant battle to see who would break first, 9 times out of 10 Tim would get him. Love this lol

There where 5 cast members. Carol/Tim/Harvey/Vicki/Lyle. Tim loved seeing how long till he could make someone on cast laugh. Majority of the time it was aimed at Harvey. There’s also a spinoff called Mamas Family from a skit they did on the show. Vicki Lawrence played Mama and Carol played Eunice. And yes the Annie your thinking of is the OG Annie it came out in June 1982 (I was 9 yrs old)

Tim Conway had several recurring characters just like in a lot of Comedy sketch shows but one of his most iconic is whenever he plays a really old man that moves and does everything in really slow motion. I cannot tell you how many times I was in stitches rolling on the floor with laughter is a little kid as he shuffled his feet forward inch by inch as he went to go across the floor and he'd run into the bottom tread of a stair and just keep repeating or into a wall and just keep repeating, and he always cracked the other cast members up

This was a variety show, the did skits and had guest, like Cher and Lucille Ball. Other regulars were Lyle Waggoner, who was on the 70's "Wonder Woman" TV show for 4 years, after Carol's show ended. Vicki Lawrence, who played Mama on a lot of the shows and, later had her own TV show called "Mama's Family". Also, she recorded "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia", 20 years before Reba McEntire, It went to No.1, on the Billboard charts.

Now if you have ever seen Gone With the Wind, then you need to react to their sketch of Went With the Wind.... The longest sustained laugh they ever got. They frequently did skits based on old classic movies because that was the one thing that Carol and her grandmother could afford to do when she was growing up in Hollywood. Carol always tugged at her ear to signal to Nanny that she was OK on every TV appearance she made on her show and the Gary Moore Show where she started earlier in her career.

So Harvey Korman (taller) one was always the one to break up. They would do two filmings of the show with two different audiences. Tim Conway would also go by the book on the first one and then asked the production staff if they got what they needed in the first taping. If they did then he would completely go off book for the second taping. They say they usually used the second taping because of it. They discussed this on a reunion show one year. Britt you are great thanks for making me smile and laugh all the time.

The first thing was Harvey had not heard that accent Tim did during rehearsals, thats why he cracked. Tim later used that voice for the Mr. Tudball and Ms . Wiggins sketches

It was a great variety show. They had many guest stars appear. It was filmed in front of a studio audience every week.

Tim Conway was a comic genius! As the old man Tim would us the Koala line because he knew it would always crack Harvey Korman up and cause him to break character.

Carol Burnett was inspired by Lucille Ball. Carol took the best of what Lucy did and combined it with her incredible comedic genius to create some of the best comedy sketches ever. She surrounded herself with true comedic geniuses in their own right - Harvey Korman, Tim Conway, and Vickie Lawrence. And each week she had the best of the best as guest stars to make the sketches all the more memorable. It was, definitely, the best comedy show on television during its eleven-season run, and in my mind, the greatest comedy variety show in TV history..

One of my all time favorite shows. Tim Conway was a national treasure and Harvey Korman was fabulous. Conway was a top notch improv guy and Korman his forever foil. These are gems. "Koala" was a standing joke.

The first time Tim did that slow shuffle it was unrehearsed and unscripted. It made the cast laugh so hard they almost couldn’t continue with the show.

I’m 73. When I was growing up, families had one telephone, one car, one TV set although all that was starting to change. These kinds of shows were on TV once a week during their regular time slot so the family would gather to watch their favorite shows when they came on. The Carol Burnett Show had 4-5 regular actors plus a guest star each week who performed with them. They had great musical numbers as well as comedy skits and wonderful costumes and sets.

The Carol Burnett show would have two tapings in front of a live audience. Conway would change up the jokes he made between each show. The second taping was normally the one used for broadcast with occasional substitutions from the "dress rehearsal" taping.

The Carol Burnett Show had four main players. Carol Burnett, Tim Conway, Vicki Lawrence and Harvey Korman. Each show would also have a guest star who was usually an actor or musical artist. Later on Lyle Wagoner joined the cast but nobody cared for him....lol
