My 20 cascade delights just arrived and I’m ready to plant. One question I have…do you recommend planting a few roots together in the same ground hole or separate each one?
You stated we may get either type of bare root raspberries from Raintree. How do we know which method to use? Will the variety we order state which way to plant? I ordered Fall Gold, Caroline, & Boyne...
So excited to pick up my order in just over a week. I also purchased apple and peach trees in addition to raspberries. About how tall are the semi-dwarf and dwarf fruit trees when we pick them up? Are they bare root or are they potted or wrapped in burlap? Trying to figure out how big of a vehicle I need to bring with me for transport. Thank you!
Your order should require no more than 6 feet of length. Even an order of 20 trees can easily fit in the back of a small truck, smaller orders in the rear floorboard of a passenger car.
I've got raspberry plants from Raintree I planted 10+ years ago...they still produce like gangbusters! I wonder what the typical lifespan of these plants is though...my old man told me when he was a kid they'd completely pull and replace all the raspberry bushes every year or two. I wonder if that was even necessary!
The average lifespan of a raspberry patch is anywhere from 5-15 years. It depends on your climate, soil health, cultivation practices, and local disease and pest populations. With good soil, some care, and a little luck raspberries can remain productive for a long time!
The writing for hearing impaired is right over the part we want to see, which is how you plant it... could you change your camera angle? BTW, this is such a great new thing!
I received raspberries with new green growth. The growth is what I assume new canes it's at the base of the plant. Should this new growth be buried at all?
Hi! Great information. I ordered a bunch from Raintree. I also picked up other bareroot from a nursery down the street. I can use the same method correct?
Previously raspberries have had their roots more evenly distributed at the center so the old cane could be planted upright. If you plant this style that way the shoots will often rot before they can break the surface of the soil.
Cool! Makes so much sense, and wonderfully explained. Reminds me of how I was taught to plant tomatoes…
Thanks! I'm about to receive my raspberries from you guys and I'm a first time grower of raspberries, so this is super helpful 👍
Thanks for the helpful video. Do you recommend soaking the cane before planting? If so how long.
Thank you!
Short and sweet. Love it!!! Thank you Laura!!!!!
Wonderful information! I will be sending raspberries to friends soon!
Well-explained and very helpful-thanks!
Same technique as cordon, interesting! Pretty much everything I’m planting in March will be at a 45 deg angle
Just found you, you’re so fun! ❤Love your enthusiasm !
Awesome thanks 🙏🏼
Does this also apply to areas where it gets quite cold still (teens F.) in mid April? Thank You!
Planted last year just as directed … they did not do well, no new growth along roots hopefully they’ll do better this season

Is it the same procedure for potted raspberries? Anything else to add for potted raspberries? Thanks!

This year your raspberries will be like they are in the video, plant them as instructed.
@@RaintreeNursery Would this planting style work for any raspberries though? Such as shoots that need to be relocated?

Thank you.
What is the distance between the plants?
2-4ft depending on how you want to manage it.

Interesting...

Take a look at the shape of the plant and the roots, that will tell you if you need to do it this way or not.
What is done differently when you prepare them vs. the old way?
