i remember playing this with my dad when i was 8 years old. i was always the keyboard and dad the mouse. dad scored somehow just before the halfway line using the mouse. always on the same team... =]...wish i was still 8.
I loved the team selection screen. So classy. And the game was strange but fun back in the day. I played it a lot and still remember the goald made from long distances.
am i the only one that is so blown away by how much technology and games have improved in 15 years? Fifa 97 was such a good game haha they should defo bring back indoors mode :D
Nostalgia indeed. Haven't played this for nearly 15 years now, and the quirky commentary lines just come flooding back. Not to mention the title music. Players took the heaviest touches ever (you can see an example in the vid where the guy slows down the player when he's running towards his own net, because you could easily put that past your own keeper). I remember the step up to fifa 98 being unreal, as players could actually turn properly with the ball. Fifa 99 was still the best though!
I remember playing FIFA 97, on Sega Mega Drive, and PS1, when I owned them, my best friend used to be Manchester United, and I was Leeds United, on the indoor game, but why didn't Sega put the best players, in the indoor game, like the did on the outdoor game ?.
@lmcgregoruk yeah but that barely even loads. it's just there for like i think a second. and i never knew why the indoor field was blue on the playstation either. this indoor field and the ps1 indoor field has the same black and yellow soccer ball. same with the outdoor on both versions. black and white ball. let's talk about the models, shall we?
I had FIFA 97 when I was a small kid and the indoor feature was nice, although the game was not great. I remember you could dive in this game, but I never pulled it off, always got a deserved yellow card. Also, I remember the crazy shots you could do. If I am not mistaken, you coudl basically steer the shot even after it left your foot. Scored some unbelievable goals with David Beckham from long range.
To be fair if you're talking about the history of fifa video by nedevd, then his video shows Fifa International Soccer on Megadrive, then Fifa 95 on Megadrive, then Fifa 96 on Sega 32X, then Fifa 97 on Megadrive again before showing Fifa RTWC 98 on Playstation? or PC?, but this video however is Fifa 97 for PC/MS-DOS, I'll upload an indoor match on FIFA RTWC 98 PC version later if you want? It's just annoying to get working under Vista 64-bit, need to make the screen small for a match.
@OreoMan951 Well technically there is a loading screen, it's that second or so when it shows you the team stats :p I never understood why the Playstation used a blue indoor floor though, when even the megadrive used a wooden look.
ah man fifa 97 was brilliant! they should bring back indoor football in fifa 13 - maybe even with the legends of old like they do during the summer lol!
at least on this version, there's no loading screen. the one thing that's not like the playstation version is the character models. if you look at the character models on the pc and the playstation, they're alot different. i don't know if their faces look pissed off in this version but on the playstation, their faces make them look like they're pissed off. that's one thing that struck me the first time playing this game.
@JamieMelbie3 Well it was the first Fifa game to use polygonal models rather than sprites, and I doubt you could fit FIFA 11's models/animation into 8MB Ram :p
when i was a kid (8yrs old in 97) i used to set up PC v PC games for a full 90mins and watch a full game as if it was real. scores were like 28 - 30 lol anyone else?
I remember this too well. The year when FIFA got crap after the legendary FIFA '95 and pretty good '96. The quick, fun intense gameplay of those previous games was totally lost in the fancy new graphics of this version. I remember hating it so much at the time and being so disappointed. Obviously needed to be done though..
@4UltimateGamers Speak English at all? All I can get from that is either, "How much for the game"" or "How much for the game manual/leaflet/instructions?"
oh.. thanks. thats a much smarter/logical response than a few others. :) i had no idea about that. No worries, I played a lot of fifa 98 as a child.. thats why I thought this is fifa '98. still fresh in my mind you see.
I bet EA would be willing to add this to the game as paid DLC......Remember good old games where you just bought the disc with everything on? Now they only give you half a game, pay for the rest.....
Until 1993 it was impossible to play soccer in a videogame. EA Sports has revolutionized this game since 1994. I was FIFA 94, 95, 96, 97 and 98. After these years, I never played. I went back to play now. The revolution of 1994, which allowed to play this game was the automatic change of players, the ones with the yellow wheel
Indoor matches are in the PS1 version, but they're on a bluey-grey surface. Even the Mega Drive/Genesis and SNES used a wooden texture for the floor in indoor matches.
ah the good ol days! this was hilarious shite, gettin goals from the centre of the pitch and the funny commentary. 'its old fashioned skill dribbling but he's good at it!'
This game Mode was one of the best ever.
I genuinely spent so many hours of my weeks playing this.
Came here to say EXACTLY THIS!
I had 99 goals once and i scored again and my score went back to zero lol
I loved when I accidently scored an own goal didn't the broadcaster say "what the hell was that" or something haha loved that
Where can I get this one from? Was the indoor mode only on 97? Was this one the one that had the theme song of windows down?
i remember playing this with my dad when i was 8 years old. i was always the keyboard and dad the mouse. dad scored somehow just before the halfway line using the mouse. always on the same team... =]...wish i was still 8.
I really miss this. I don't know why they only had this indoor feature on Fifa 97. So much fun.
It was so much fun
I loved the team selection screen. So classy. And the game was strange but fun back in the day. I played it a lot and still remember the goald made from long distances.
Only Jameson and Levine are playing.
True
But this is very limited because of when it was made but it still is the shit at the time it was made
And 25 years later they've sure made the games realistic, but they've forgotten to make them fun...
fifa 17 needs this.
am i the only one that is so blown away by how much technology and games have improved in 15 years? Fifa 97 was such a good game haha they should defo bring back indoors mode :D

This vid is older than most fortnite players
this was the SHIT!! bring it back
I really miss that game. These indoor matches was nice as hell
i want indoor match back !
Well...
I remember playing FIFA 97, on Sega Mega Drive, and PS1, when I owned them, my best friend used to be Manchester United, and I was Leeds United, on the indoor game, but why didn't Sega put the best players, in the indoor game, like the did on the outdoor game ?.

One of my first games ever actually and one of my favourites, you can feel the nostalgia attacking you just by hearing the menu music :)
Those were the days... :(
shows you how far gaming has come and is going to keep getting better. i bet people thought these were good graphics at the time
memorable...i was 14 years old back then argghhhh..growing up games!!!!!!!
I had FIFA 97 when I was a small kid and the indoor feature was nice, although the game was not great. I remember you could dive in this game, but I never pulled it off, always got a deserved yellow card.

Interception by Levine!

Better than fifa 14
stfu
And 15,16,17,18,19,20 and prolly 21
I had this game and I always played indoor matches! :D that pitch looked so cool to me! nice memories!
@OreoMan951 Well technically there is a loading screen, it's that second or so when it shows you the team stats :p I never understood why the Playstation used a blue indoor floor though, when even the megadrive used a wooden look.
@rohanbahadur92 Ah, that would explain why the boards are advertising NHL Hockey 97, NBA Live 97 and for some strange reason Fifa 97 :p
@Phoottis
what do you expect mate?the year was 1997, do you even remeber that year?
@adnil24 I think the last Fifa to feature an indoor mode was Fifa 11 on the Wii.
@Hashpotato heh, last time I checked you can score from kickoff in Fifa 09 outdoors :p
@MultiSHti Yes, there's a Malaysian league there with Malaysian clubs.
I used to play this sooo much - they should totally have an indoor mode in the new fifas - or maybe like a beach football mode...
ah man fifa 97 was brilliant! they should bring back indoor football in fifa 13 - maybe even with the legends of old like they do during the summer lol!
is that luigi playing goal for them?
@bloonmaster Er no, it's Fifa 97 as you can clearly hear/see at 0:18
i miss this game!
@bloonmaster oh well, the timing must be off for me, "Fifa 97 indoor soccer" starts at my 0.18 and ends at 0.20
fifa97's interface was beautiful, fun fun fun game, my first fifa.
at least on this version, there's no loading screen. the one thing that's not like the playstation version is the character models. if you look at the character models on the pc and the playstation, they're alot different. i don't know if their faces look pissed off in this version but on the playstation, their faces make them look like they're pissed off. that's one thing that struck me the first time playing this game.
@jacobcapewell they had indoor soccer on fifa 11 but that mode was only on the nintendo wii. i played it actually and it was as good as this.
Bebeto could score from the halfway line if I recall, and Steve McManaman was a speed demon. Classic game.
Damn they had FIFA street in 1997???? How tf i never knew that? I was a teen back then.
my first pc game:)
Yeah, on the Wii. Fifa 12 on the Wii has indoor mode too, as informed to me by GillGamingPro
Memories!
@willzegreek The commentators or me, John Motson isn't, Andy Gray is, and I am.
Used to love playing this as a kid
That is what fifa 16 should have real indoor teams and stadiums
@JamieMelbie3 Well it was the first Fifa game to use polygonal models rather than sprites, and I doubt you could fit FIFA 11's models/animation into 8MB Ram :p
Any link that I could download the game?
Indoor matches for new fifa games!Thumbs up if you want it too!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bring It BACK!!!
World cup 98 was on PC and it was awesome :D
@raveboy24 Yeah, in the 2nd half of extra time.
They need to bring it back for FIFA 23!
when i was a kid (8yrs old in 97) i used to set up PC v PC games for a full 90mins and watch a full game as if it was real.
scores were like 28 - 30 lol
anyone else?
Best FIFA game ever.

@1PlacebOOO May be boring but at least its not a PES clone like Fifa 12 will be.
@MrALMOSTSK8ter It isn't any console, it's a pc.
Used to hit it off the sides it was like table football
I can not understand how come youtube advertises E-toro for me , when I´m watching a cheap mega drive game from 25 years ago
@4UltimateGamers Speak English at all? All I can get from that is either, "How much for the game"" or "How much for the game manual/leaflet/instructions?"
skip to 6:08 for most anti climatic goal ever
A lot of goals in FIFA 97 were like that.
I'm pretty sure you could have saved that with two goal keepers
Goalkeeper looks bipolar, celebrating, then serious, then celebrating again.
Interception by Levein!
oh.. thanks. thats a much smarter/logical response than a few others. :)
i had no idea about that.
No worries, I played a lot of fifa 98 as a child.. thats why I thought this is fifa '98. still fresh in my mind you see.
BRING BACK FIFA INDOOR FOOTBALL
I bet EA would be willing to add this to the game as paid DLC......Remember good old games where you just bought the disc with everything on? Now they only give you half a game, pay for the rest.....
@tsubasapt Yeah, I remember when the first EA Fifa game came out, I couldn't understand why it was so highly rated.
brings back memories
My childhood
haha class i remember playing this on my pc back in the day
I played this game a lot. I was 6 years old.
this is still better gameplay then FIFA07 for my mobile phone :)
@djbackflip789 Yeah, but then again, so do you :-)
versao pc ?
Doesn't help people with only a pc and no console though :p
Fifa 94-2012 all on pc, except 95 and spinoffs like World Cup/Street Series.
@lmcgregoruk The german guy asking how much for the game manual
Until 1993 it was impossible to play soccer in a videogame. EA Sports has revolutionized this game since 1994. I was FIFA 94, 95, 96, 97 and 98. After these years, I never played. Is this in the ps1 version?

They should do an indoor mode in fifa 13
EA already told that this mode is gonne be in the Fifa 14, i came here because i didn't know what this mode really is.
i can't believe you didn't slide tackle the keeper
@iisrael98 Yes.
I was born that year .
@lmcgregoruk i kno like but there was sumthin stupidly special about fifa indoor football:P
Great interception by LAVINE.
the crowd sounds like a demented hoover.
beggining of fifa street
Is this my gym class or fifa?
They'll release another FIFA Street instead of putting indoor stadiums in FIFA 12
They had my country malaysia in this game!
Yes back thats right back then FIFA use to have the license for the Malaysian league so you could play for Malaysian clubs
if indoors comes back ill buy fifa again. if not shove it
The ultimate cheat was to stand right in front of the goalie as he was about to kick it then it bounced in
@OmgItsMarcXP Thanks for reminding me, Imma go get teh pes12 demo :-)
ah the good ol days! this was hilarious shite, gettin goals from the centre of the pitch and the funny commentary.
'its old fashioned skill dribbling but he's good at it!'
what a fascinating match
Del Piero TOGON !!! :D
fifa street is probably the closest u can get
SOCCER SHOOT OUT , THE BEST INDOOR SOCCER,( FOR SNES)
Why not, it would be fun
