You have done this very beautifully with heartfelt love and compassion about a lost love. I have only heard Inga Swenson, Julie Andrews, and the great Judy Garland sing this song. You did great , however I feel that Judy Garland has always owned this song. Many singers are inspired by this when they hear Judy at Carnegie Hall or on her TV show. I would like very much to see who inspired you with this song. I feel your version is better than everyone else's, except of course the incomparable Judy Garland. 🤔🤗👍♥️😌
Firstly, I would like to thank you immensely for talking the time to comment and for all your kind words, it means a lot. You rightly pointed out that Judy Garland owns this song and i absolutely agree. It was Judy that inspired me to learn this song and encouraged me to go on and learn many more lesser known songs she recorded and brought to the stage. (It Never Was You by Kurt Weil, Friendly Star by Harry Warren and Better Luck Next Time by Irving Berlin) She has been a great influence on me as a singer in general, along with a few other lady legends. I wanted to add that I also feel the genius of this song is down to the composer Noel Coward. His lyrics in line with the melody are so bittersweet and I really love the challange of trying to convey those emotions to my audience in the most honest and earnst way possible. Anyway Charlie, I'm so glad you liked it. We will forever remember the great Judy singing this but i do love to try and keep the repertoire of The Great American Songbook alive. Kindest regards. Sara Dowling. x
Oh so nice ❤
