Ladies and Gentlemen, this is Part 6 of battle of midway from Japanese Perspective , Image used in this video is of Japanese aircraft carrier Hiryū , which was an aircraft carrier built for the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) during the 1930s. Hiryū and three other fleet carriers of the First Air Fleet (Kido Butai) participated in the Battle of Midway in June 1942. After bombarding American forces on the atoll, the carriers were attacked by aircraft from Midway and the carriers USS Enterprise, Hornet, and Yorktown. Dive bombers from Yorktown and Enterprise crippled Hiryū and set her afire. She was scuttled the following day after it became clear that she could not be salvaged. The loss of Hiryū and three other IJN carriers at Midway was a crucial strategic defeat for Japan and contributed significantly to the Allies' ultimate victory in the Pacific.

The explanation of the Japanese Navy mindset and lack of ability to adjust is really fascinating. During my entire military and business careers, I was taught that flexibility and the importance to adapt was a prerequisite. When I was serving in the SF, we were constantly told the Mind was the ultimate weapon. Leading Men requires adaptation once the operation starts. A highly planned and effective Five Paragraph Order gets you onto the target. Often something occurs that requires adaptation.
The Japanese training and mindset of the Navy seems to have been as responsible for the developments at Midway and later battles. Admiral Nagumo would have been a master of his training and strict disciplined to his orders. I now question if the Admiral had the authority or ability to deviate from Naval doctrine. I thank you for this new perspective and knowledge.
Someone famously once said, "No plan survives first contact with the enemy". That was definitely true for the Japanese at Midway.
A weakness like that of the French in 1940, They refused to support Sedan. Yet if the commander had positioned his main force there. it was strong enough to cause the Germans real tuble since their forces were stilll backed up in the Ardennes. But he was mainly concerned to protect the rear of the Maginot line. .
Don't pretty much all really repressive societies have that same problem with once their original operational plan goes awry due to their senior command staff being taken out Don't have junior officers and nco's stepping up like Americans always have?

This whole series about Midway is excellent. The research must have been extremely difficult, as much of the info seems to come from Japanese naval officers' diaries, and other written sources written in Japanese. Great job!

There is an old saying of :
"let the enemy , be its own worst enemy* .
This simple tactic was successfully employed by the US military against the Germans and Japanese.
In my opinion , it saved the lives of thousands of American service men in Europe and the Pacific theater .
I want to know more about the days after the bombs. What happened? Where were the Japanese? What was the plan if the bombs didn't work.
The Japanese were foolish constantly dividing their forces i.e. their powerful ships, didn't they have a couple of more carriers that could have been at Midway and therefore have 6 or 8 more aviation squadrons to attack the Americans with? I realize the Japanese lost their tiptop aircrews and aircraft ground crew members but they would have had those aircraft to counterattack the Americans wit? Maybe I'm wrong, I thought a couple of carriers went to the Alaskan waters?
Yes they did have other carriers, why Alaska I've never understood.
There were but we broke their code and they probably would have lost those carriers as well
The Japanise lost the war over having the delusion they were simply conducting a 'mopping up operation' , instead of living in the reality they were in a war with a nation 4 times its size , and had unlimited resources to fight a war .
@@berenc7619 also they had failed to get the US carriers in Pearl Harbor and did not realize how big of a problem that would be.
Our advantage was better intelligence and.recon.And god and luck were on our side.

The Germans and Japanese military failed for the following reasons :
1) the ledership was inflexable in making changes in stratagy once plans were implimented .
2) enemy troops were only trained to follow the orders of their unit commanders , the units and average trooper could not function when their unit commande wounded or killed killed - German units easly surrended when this happened .
Every member l of American military was and is trained from the Private up was and is trained to lead a unit if unit commanding officers were and are wounded or killed .
The Japanise made that same mistake , Japanise reistance colallpsed when their unit leaders were taken out .
American military knew this weakness in the German and Japanese military training, and explotted it by trageted enemy unit leaders
- and this tactic was hugely effective in either wiping out entire enemy units , or casuing them to surrender .
